Judging from the furniture, the items (like the record player) and the housing.."old timey" it points to the setting being in the mid to late 1930s. 50 or so years before Blade was even born even moreso came of age to hunt vampires.
In the comics Man-Thing is empathic and driven by emotions he feels coming off of others, human reasoning is not really his thing even though he was one, once - (Dr. Theodore "Ted" Sallis). If your thoughts are pleasant or kind, he's cool, if you're aggressive, scared or angry it directly affects him causing him to emit the chemical that is like a burning acid. "Whoever knows Fear burns at the Tough of the Man-Thing" I'm so surprised to see him done so well in movie/tv form. Great reaction, i loved this as well.
The actor plays Jack is Gael Garcia Bernal. Mexican actor friend of Diego Luna, "Andor" main character. As a Mexican myself I am glad to see these actors on main roles for these great franchises. Congratulations for your great reactions, look forward for what's next. Thank you
This was so, so, SO GOOD!!! Easily one of my favorite things that Marvel has done!! Both Jack and Elsa were fantastic, and I can't wait to see more. A few other things: 1) They nailed Man-Thing!! He's my favorite Marvel monster, and I am so very happy with his introduction! He was a scientist named Ted Sallis, and as Man-Thing he is drawn to people's emotions, especially fear. His tag line in the comics was "Whatever knows fear burns at the Man-Thing's touch!" 2) I haven't heard any reactors mention this yet, but there was a fun little easter egg in the opening narration when he said the phrase "where monsters dwell," which was the title of a long-running Marvel horror comic. 3) Moon Knight actually debuted in an issue of the Werewolf by Night comic, so I'm sure we'll see Jack and Moon Knight crossing paths at some point. 4) I strongly recommend that you watch the Disney+ documentary "Director by Night," which is about Michael Giacchino and his brother, and how they grew up making movies with their friends. It's extremely good! Keep it up M & C!! You guys are awesome!
This is the best thing Marvel has released in a while. I am not hating on anything I just really liked how different this was. Opening up more of the supernatural aspect of the marvel world is something I am really hoping for. I think it help shake up the whole super hero genre.
So Fun Fact: Elsa Bloodstone, WereWolf by Night and Man-Thing are all core members of a team that fights super natural beings in Marvel. they are called the "Midnight Sons" and other members of that team are... Blade, Doctor Strange, Moon Knight/Mr.Knight, Wong, Morbius, Johnny Blaze (In human form) Danny Ketch ( the 3rd Ghost Rider) Scarlet Witch (Briefly) The Hood (Briefly, & he will appear in the Iron-Heart disney plus series, and the actor was revealed at D23 this year) Wolverine, The Punisher, Iron-Fist, and then theirs a few lesser know characters like, Daimon Hellstrom, Hannibal King, Magik, Nico Minoru, Zoe Laveu, Doctor Voodoo, Scarlet Spider (Ben Riley) and Jennifer Kale. I think Marvel is getting us ready for a more darker, mature, Bloody horror side of Marvel, the Super natural side of Marvel, cause why else make this special feature and introduce us to 3 members of the "Midnight Sons" and i think its funny how we already had Moon Knight, and Oscar Isaac himself said on an interview that he would love Moon Knight to join a Team, and he said Not The Avengers cause that's already been done, but a new team that's lesser know but way cooler, like "The Midnight Sons" i find it funny that Oscar knew about that team and mentioned it in that interview, so something must be getting planned for later on in the future since we are getting Blade as well. :)
By the way in the comics Man Thing real name is Ted Sallis he was born human he was scientist, Elsa bloodstone in the comics she's like mixed version of Buffy the vampire slayer and the bloodstone amulet necklace gives her strength, speed, and invulnerability
This one was a lot of fun. I don't even know anything about Man Thing but he has such an iconic look that I couldn't help but get excited to see him here. Marvel definitely treated us this Halloween & I can't wait to see future specials.
I know theres a race (i guess that's the word) of Man Things out there somewhere cus Toth's parents in Strange Academy, (a comic about Dr Strange's magic school for young beings) are a different Man Thing and the Queen of a race of people made of crystal showed up a few months ago and they made a point of mentioning he wasn't *the* Man Thing but another of the race. Little comic deep cut for ya'll , Scarlett Witch and Agatha Harkness even show up as teachers there.
Michael Giacchino has been kicking ass this year. Made 5 movie soundtracks. He also directed this special as well. It's vey rare to have a director who is also a composer. Since there are issues with the new Blade movie right now, they should get Giacchino to direct and score it at this point. That would be the smart move on their part if they do! Werewolf by Night was freaking awesome! I loved the 1920’s aesthetic and that it’s in black and white color for most of it until the very end. Had this old school gothic atmosphere and cinematography that I really appreciated a lot. What I did not expect at all was some blood and gore. The fight scenes were dope as hell and the humor was subtle. The plot and characters were intriguing. Had me sucked in from the very moment I started to watch it. The score by composer Giacchino was one of my favorite parts about it. Very sublime and beautifully haunting while also having suspense and had a creepy Halloween kind of flare to it. It felt right in the spirit of all things related to the spooky season. I definitely do not see that coming at all. I really enjoyed what I watched. My only complaint was that it was too short! I wanted to see more of it. All and all, it was great and I enjoyed it alot. Good job to Mr. Giacchino for not only scoring the special but also directing it as well. Hopefully the MCU will do more of these! We deserve more darker and brutal MCU movies at this point!!
Man Thing (Ted) is awesome. Great characters added to the MCU. Man Thing is important to traveling the multiverse and now that Elsa and Jack Russell are added there are some great stories that can be told. hello MidNight Sons
@@johnsantos507 That is if the MCU does the comic cast. Honestly they change things around but at least the horror element added to the MCU opens up so much. Honestly with the history of Marvel comics there are so many more titles to open up. The Star Wars universe is technically part of the Marvel Universe. Maybe Dr Strange could teleport to a galaxy far far away, haha.
moon knight's debut appearance was actually as a villain-of-the-month in the werewolf by night comic. he'd been hired and outfitted to capture the werewolf but found out his shady employers intended to use the werewolf to kill threats to their activities, so moon knight set him free. since his intro moon knight's origin has gone through a number of reboots.

cool shit abt man thing he communicates through emotion and can open portals to other dimensions while burning anyone that feels fear but yes the scientist Ted Sallis is stuck as the Man Thing after a super soldier serum recreation
This is so much different from anything marvel had done inside the mcu. Closest thing would be multiverse of madness. Very nice claw marks in the intro and Frankenstein lightning.
