The working theory is that Yalena and her Mom & Dad were snapped, which is why Natasha had nothing in Endgame and was so hell bent of reversing the snap. Would also explain why Yalena doesn't have a lot of info on what actually happened to Natasha.
Very cool! Makes sense why she wanted to help Hawkeye so bad even though Rhodey kinda made him seem like a lost cause, she both lost their entire family so she understood how he felt

The vest is the one Natasha wears in Infinity War. Also, Yelena named her dog Fanny. Fanny Longbottom is the alias on Natasha's passport that she uses to reunite with Yelena. Yelena named her dog in her sister's memory.
Interesting that Nat’s grave has name but no body, while her mom had a grave with a body and no name. :(

Such a great movie, and the introduction of Florence Pugh as Yelena is a game-changer.
Pay attention to the scene when she tells Natasha she was chosen for her "genetic potential"....might be an easter egg of her being enhanced
Guess her enhancement doesn't help with a fall from great heights LUL.

i truly would never watch a full movie reaction on any channel but you two make it so enjoyable. you take what’s on screen and analyze it while staying super cool and positive instead of just complaining and saying things like “i hate this and that because it’s not what i wanted to happen”.

Yelena was the best part of the movie. And the scene where she says it was all real for her is completely heartbreaking.
The heartbreaking part was that there's signs that it was real for all of them. Melina kept their photo album. Natasha confessed at the end. Alexei had the daughters name tatooed on his arm and melina's face on his chest.
I liked the movie. I especially like the people whinging about taskmaster being a woman, I hope in the future they make her armor pink. She was under utilized though, like when Malina turns them into the red room, Taskmaster's just standing in the helicopter looking menacing, then in the car chase thing they have this epic chase, and then Taskmaster jumps down the access tunnel.
Yelena was a fucking fantastic character, I really hope Alexei gets to run into Sam at some point.
Also Nat *thought* she had murdered a child for who knows how many years, and even in finding out she didn't actually murder a child, she found she'd created a mass murderer in the process.
I haven't heard anyone complain about her being a woman(though of course people are going to) but I have heard people complain about her getting her powers from her tech instead of a serum and her not being a massive shit talker who can actually back it up. I would dislike the changes if she had been killed but since she wasn't until we are shown otherwise as far as I'm concerned the changes to Taskmaster are the same as the changes to Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp it's a woman instead of a man. I thought Taskmasters powers were a result of the explosion and the tech just kept her alive but apparently I'm the only person that thinks that. Nothing in her HUD made me think that was allowing her to copy people it just looked like predictive analysis or something to me. And she was being controlled of course she wouldn't be talking shit to her opponents. I hope we see her in the Hawkeye series later this year with Yelena.

@@skarletfenrir6979 taskmaster doesn’t even get powers from a serum. The main problem is they changed a talkative bad ass into basically another winter soldier.
@@Cream-2128 I thought his powers were just something he had but I heard multiple people say it was a serum. Also we don't know that she isn't a talkative badass because she couldn't be for this story. We will definitely see her again(hopefully in Hawkeye) and then we can see what she is really like and considering alot of people's opinions with this version I'm confident she will be talking shit.
@@skarletfenrir6979 he doesn’t get it from a serum. Natasha and yelena actually have a serum in comics not taskmaster. Also this just isn’t taskmaster at all taskmaster is a talkative merc that’s loses memories as they learn more styles and talks a ton of shit while fighting.
Hi there! I’m just going to share some knowledge I have of Natasha from the comics! So the red room only took girls because they were the best spies. In the comics Natasha is much older! So I believe it was during the Cold War if I’m remembering correctly. So women were under valued due to the time where misogyny and sexism was rampant. So therefore no one would suspect a women. That was the red rooms mission. All the women were given a version of the super soldier serum. While it didn’t do what it did to Steve Rogers it made the girls peak humans. They had enhanced healing, reflexes, agility, intelligence and so on. This also slowed their aging down. In the comics at least. In the MCU of course they didn’t go this route. In the comics the boys went to Hydra and were like Bucky Barnes. Meanwhile the girls went to the red room like Natasha! Yelena in the comics is actually a clone of Natasha but still under the red rooms control.

About Valentina in the post credits scene. It is true that she is lying about Clint's responsibility in Natasha's death. But it is also true that from Infinity War, to EndGame, Clint became a murderer, he took the identity of Ronin for 5 years, and therefore he was a murderer wanted by many governments, organizations and teams, good and bad. It would make sense for people with good intentions and plans to seek him out as well as people with bad intentions and plans.

Hey, finally caught up, now that this movie came to Disney+ with no added cost. I loved this movie; it was like the best Bond movie I have ever seen. The family stuff was also well done.
I did have some issues with it but overall it was very enjoyable and we had a blast watching it. A great addition to the MCU.
I think people forget sometimes that Black Widow has no powers. She only has a "very particular set of skills" 😂And this is enough. She's awesome!!!
The writers for this movie certainly forgot that.

So here is a theory I just discussed with someone on iG and it basically says we didn't even see taskmaster it was only his protocol that we saw so you the protocol is actually based on taskmaster's abilities as he can't actually make them like him any other way and control them at once. Makes perfect sense and i hope that's the case because it would make the most sense for antonia to only be another controlled widow.

I agree about TaskMaster. I thought he was really cool but very underused & I hated the ultimate reveal of who he really was. I also agree Dreykov was too much of a stereotypical James Bond villain. I like the idea of Dreykov's daughter being a regret for Natasha, but I could've done without the daughter actually being Taskmaster. Technically, she could be just the prototype and the Taskmaster protocol has improved since then & there are other Taskmasters in existence. I like to think The Red Room is still not completely destroyed and could still be a thorn in Yelena's and The Avengers side for the future & there are others still around the world...including boy versions of Black Widows too. Personally, I never was a fan of mind control as a plot device in movies and tv shows and also how easy it is to "cure" those people from that mind control. I like the ideas of psychological conditioning and brainwashing, but they still have ability to make their own choices. It is just that they have been conditioned to see good vs. evil or right vs. wrong differently than we do.
LOL...I wonder if the last name of Yelena's dog is "Longbottom". I hope this movie does really well financially. But, I do think it will also "suffer" from fan expectations. I thought it was a very well-done, fun & rewatchable movie that gives Black Widow much-deserved, great action scenes & honestly felt different (& darker) than a typical MCU movie. But I also think it was a much better MCU fit 5 years ago after Captain America Civil War vs. now that lacked the real big punch it could've had after Avengers Endgame. In fact, it may even flow better to see this movie right after Civil War and just skip the post-credit scene (a great scene, by the way). Scarlett Johansson was great in the movie, but Florence Pugh stole the whole movie & I think it was not really the origin story or solo Black Widow movie we thought it would be. In fact, even though I loved Red Guardian, I think you could've removed both parents and kept the same story and maybe even focused more on the sisters. I heard someone else suggest Valentina's comment about hating the mid-west could be alluding to her creating West Coast Avengers. But it was still very fun and I am very interested in a sequel.
Steve Rogers was in Wakanda with Bucky during this movie.
Rescuing the widows might have been somewhat less difficult because even though they still have the mind control drugs nobody is controlling them. No instructions.
Valentina is the one who is with Yelena at the Post-end credits scene. She also hired John Walker, the first guy who took the mantle of Captain America before it was passed down to Falcon and John was hellbent on turning into one in which onwards turned into a Super Soldier completely with some anger management issues. Soon John Walker was named US Agent by Valentina just like in the Dark Avengers comics Storyline. It was speculated that Yelena will take the place of Black Widow in the Dark Avengers just like how US Agent took the place of Captain America in the Dark Avengers.
The young Natalie is played by Milla Jovovich’s daughter.

I saw how upset you were about Taskmaster and I have something of a theory - which could work if Marvel receives enough backlash like with the portrayal of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 - in the movie I don't recall the characters ever referring to the girl as "The Taskmaster." The widows do request the Taskmaster Protocol. Which begs the question: who created the protocol? The program? Could it be the actual Taskmaster? It's open enough that they could take that route. I mean they are giving us the actual Mandarin it seems... why not Taskmaster at a later date?
I saw someone else suggest this too and that would be cool if they did that. Then Marvel could come out and say, "aha we had this planned all along!" And like you said they never actually refer to Antonia as Taskmaster so that leaves the door open for the real one.

I don't think Taskmaster will be a major MCU character. None of the normal comic bad guys have lasted past one or two movies. Think Red Skull, Crossbones or even Proxima Midnight. Most bad guys get small roles with Thanos being the exception yet he did not have much screen time. The next major baddie will be Kang. They could bring so much of this back but I doubt we get another movie focusing on the Black Widow world. MCU tends to circle around a larger story. If anything they only hope they could get is if a Disney + series happens. Honest though you have limited things you can do in the movies that will come out sparingly and Disney + is the only place you will see true character development.
Yelena will be Hawkeyes villain and kate bishop will be in her way too so they probably will fight each other and set up the new dark avengers
Tbh, I think she’ll only be trying to kill clint for like an episode or two before she realizes the truth and teams up with clint. They wouldn’t make her a villain

I hope Yelena doesn't become bad because many people is loving her (including me) and are saying that she already is one of their favorite characters. I hope that she just goes after Clint and then he tells her what really happened so they team up. It would be really dumb of Marvel to make this great character into a villain.
Taskmaster can be whatever, but It sucks that they played it "safe" by making it a tech thing and not a power. The character is such a good one in the comics.

Here is why they did Task Master the way they did. In the comics Task Master is officially a Mutant with the power they call Photographic reflexes where he can instantly learn any move he sees anyone else do in combat. He can not copy someone's actual powers, but he can copy all of their combat moves. Since there are still no Mutants in the MCU yet they had to make Task Master get the ability to copy people's fighting moves by a different means so they made the character have a partially computerized brain to do the same thing.
One glaring hole in the plot of the mind control though was when Malina was supposed to have used the mind control to make the pig stop breathing. Well breathing is not something our minds control directly, but is rather an autonomic function of our biology so it could not be controlled by a third party as they depicted in the film. The best they could do is make the subject, in this case the pig, hold their breathe and just like any good parent knows for those times when their child may threaten to hold their breathe all they have to do is wait for the kid to pass out and they will automatically start breathing again.

Also re: the thunderbolts thing, you forgot we have Abomination coming in Shang Chi. also, I feel like after Nat picked up the quinn jet from that dude, she went and picked up Steve, and *then* we get the civil war end credits scene where Steve's showing up at the raft.
As for where Nat went I feel like she had to have just gone and cut a deal with ross for destroying the red room and dismantling a massive network of assassin slaves.
Well Spiderman blew a boat in half and was taking down a plane in Homecoming without getting in trouble with the Sokovia Accords. There really wasn't that much movies in between Civil War and Infinity War to tackle the ramifications of the Sokovia Accords. Antman & the Wasp only featured FBI agents but it was played more for comedic relief. Im glad this movie tackled that subject a little more
Doubt it Ross was still trying to arrest her in infinity war. It was just kind of weird to just skip over that part.

This movie wasn’t bad, but it was disappointing. Especially the third act. She could have sat her own movie out and it wouldn’t make any difference
I mean Nick Fury didn't know Shield was like 1/3 HYDRA, and they fucking stole shit from HYDRA. And probably Tony Stark with the look of Taskmaster's tech, I definitely think they could have another bad one based on that.
The whole movie is an obvious metaphor for MeToo. So many world powers could have used or known about them in some way but because they were useful and only normally caused problems for homeless people they made disappear (fucked up I know) than why threaten such a terrifying organization. At least my theory.
Loved your reaction and how yall clearly saw the feelings the characters tried to portray, its a very interesting movie that had a lot of heart in the characters especially knowing the script was crunched.
