I'm 16 and have been riding for 11 years, I'm CASI (snowboard instructor) certified. I have been shredding most of my riding time and have only hit the park for small features, this season im gonna try and learn so much more. in the park. I finally got a sweet burton park board for a great price! SnowboardProCamp has actually taught me so much! thanks
Thanks to this channel, I feel ready and confident for this winter! I've been skiing for years but I feel so intreuged by boarding. Thanks again for all of the tips, now yet again I can't wait for snowfall!
I love the number 5 rule, its so important. You're gonna fall and fail plenty, key is to get yourself right back up, learn from it then try again! Keeping positive people with you when you're riding is a great tip as well.
Good crew is the key! As I started riding just two seasons ago, the thing which helped me the most (and still is) was following my buds around the mountain, looking at what they are doing and trying to mimic them, getting their advices and just feed on them.
Dude, thanks for the tips...awesome videos. I'm going snowboarding for the first time Saturday, I've been surfing for 20 years and have yet to try it. Your vids have got me stoked!
Kevin, I support your ideas. The Wright Brothers put in plenty of hours inventing the airplane. They designed and tested manned gliders before achieving powered flight. They spent days watching birds. They had to build a lightweight engine because existing engines were too heavy. They found that there was no science in propeller design; ship captains all had their own ideas. They invented the wind tunnel (a box with an electric fan), and tested models of airplane wings to maximize lift. The same wind tunnel ideas are used today at Montana State University. Your ideas are valid. Thanks for posting the video.
Your absolutely right,if u fail you just get back up and try again.do not stop until you can master what u failed at doing because when u master it you will feel confident as well as proud of yourself
Great video. Everything you talked about actually applies to anything you want to learn. Learn the basics, learn from others who are better than you and learn from your mistakes. I like how you pointed out how the 10,000 hr rule was to reach a professional or expert level and not to just be decent at something. That really takes about 20 hrs. 20hrs of focused practice that is. Subscribed!
Definitely try and try again after failure, last year I injured my back for 3-4 months from a fall at high speed, and this year I came back to the same mountain and nail the shit out of it 👍
Number one is so true for me, have 2 groups a snowboarding friends, my good friends and my bad friends. Fun riding with both, but i only get better with the good ones.
excellent video and tips. for your confidence and motivation. I can see you are very successful person and have growth tremendously in the snowboarding . thanks for sharing your experience and tips. learn a lot watching your videos. you have passion in the snowboard and a great teacher .
dude what an awesome video. thanks for putting the thought and time into covering such seemingly simple yet often overlooked aspects of snowboarding when trying to progress
I have been snowboarding for 1 year and I'm trying to get over my fear of hop on rails can you do a video on how to plz and thank you. Like a vid for front lips and front boards on rails would be good too!!!!!!
hey i had the same problem. i 100% agree with evan d. Just find a small flat rail (the wide ones.) and go from there. even if you fall its so low to the ground that there is no way you going to injure yourself(still wear a helmet ofc). and just keep hitting the same rail until you feel really comfy with it. thats when you can move on to something little bit bigger. thats how i learned at least. good luck.
***** like I can to ride on rails 2 feet high, down boxes, up boxes and gap to box its just hop on but Friday in going boarding so I'll practice hoping onto those boxes! Thanks for the tips!
This might sound like a stupid question but what if I dont have a crew because I live in phoenix and not one of the good areas so none of my freinds snowboard or want to
+Shaq diezel i had one mate who got me into wakeboarding, but we are on opposite work rosters so i only get one day with him. since then i've been hitting the cable park by myself. i already made tonnes a friends and the pro guys have been helping me out. it's been 3 months and i can already tantrum, scarecrow, hit sliders with decent presses and now i'm moving onto bigger and technical tricks. without that motivation and getting myself out there i don't think i'd be half as good.
so true! any time I went with just my older brother he pushed me to go on runs I was a little scared to ride but it pushed me to be better and get better
There's good TED talk about 10,000 hours rule out there. In brief: this is amount of time one needs to become top class in a discipline. So for snowboarder it would be getting to podium during Olympic Games. To become decent one needs 20 hours.
SnowboardProCamp Hello and congrats for the great channel and videos ! I have a question: I've found a Burton Custom V-Rocker board on sale, but the only size available is 158 mid-wide. I'm begginer to intermediate, 190cm 95kg(210 pounds), boot size 13 and my riding style is all mountain i guess. Do you think this board is too small for me ? I usually rent 160-161 boards when on the mountain.
ichangedmyname Sadly yes, however, you can change the severity of the injury. I have been snowboarding for 11 years. My only real injuries have been dislocating my right shoulder three times, and getting three concussions. Chances are, if I didn't use protective movements, ie. crossing my hands across my chest in an "x" position. I could have spent a lot more money and time on injuries.
Whats the best way to recover from a majore injury ? I shattered my shoulder snow boarding 2 seasons ago and I am finally on the road to recovery, but I am worried about getting back on the board. What is the best way to get over that newly developed "fear" that is in the back of your mind after such a injury and being out of riding for so long ?
Your videos are awesome. I took some of your tips up to Big Bear last week and I saw a lot of improvement. Swithcing over to a camber thanks to you. Haha!
Same dude... I started off skiing but then quickly switched to snowboarding when I saw how much fun you can have on them! Stay different and stick to what you like brudda
Hey Snowboard Pro Camp, I'm a beginner snowboarder, and I've been practicing for 2 seasons with some improvement. But it's difficult to learn because none of my friends are into snowboarding, I don't have friends who are learning to snowboard themselves, so I'm kind of a loner when it comes to it. Should I have friends to snowboard with? How would I go about making some if I'm still a beginner? Thanks!
I have been snowboarding for about 3 years, but i never hit the park. I just rode for speed, but recently I decided to turn to the park and I have been having success with rails and boxes, but whenever I get onto a medium size jump, I loose my balance in the air and normally fall. Do you have and tips?
Hi Kevin, I found when a slope is steeper than blue, it's very hard to steer my back foot and turn my board from one edge to another. Also, I noticed my weight shift backward in that circumstances. Do you have any tip on keep my weight centered when the slope is steeper than green or blue? Maybe I'm just too scared lol.
I got the same board man... everyone's getting leid! I have a question though, Ive been working in the park really hard lately and when I spin my front 3s and back 3s I can't seem to be able to compress enough to grab... any suggestions? also I've been working on rodeo 5s and barrel rolls, but when I get around in the flip I fall as soon as I land... any suggestions for that too? thanks
Great tips as ever! Man! I must be a pro already! I'm awesome at falling! Ask my ass! Lol... Kevin, you are so right, some trick have come easy but others I have spent hours trying to hit them and falling every time or not quite making the spin... I could've said "screw this, I'll do something easier!" but no, I get my but off the snow, have a think and get on it... Sure, sometimes my body hurts but I get there. Thanks for your videos!
Also, a very good tip would be to look and imitate the better snowboarders in the park. Whenever I see better snowboarders than me I have them make the jump first and observe their moves. Observe people every time, even when you are on the lift. :)
i go up to snowboard at leate only a week a year, my goal this year is to ride a grind. Alli can do is boxes, 180 off smaller jumps. Could i acheve my goal?
Hi SnowboardProCamp. I´m looking for a new board, and I´m going with the Burton Custom Flying V. But I don´t know how long my board should be. I´m 1,71cm and i weigh 66kg. I´m also an Intermediate snowboarder, and like to ride both park, and all- round mountain. What length do you suggest? :)
I like your videos. I come back to them often. I wish however I had some friends as you say to push you further. I have friends but not snowboarding ones. I'm a lone wolf on the hill. I used to have those buddies years ago but now that I'm 44 it's difficult to find people your age that are willing to take big risks. I don't want to be that creepy old dude in the park looking for friends. Any advice?
I wanna start doing 180's and 360's off jumps. My goofy off jumps is for shit, but okay for regular riding. Should I just go for 360's since it'll probably take a bit to get my goofy off jumps to be where my regular is?
i remember my first flip i did I was exiting a ramp and my board clipped the edge and I went flying through the air good thing i landed as if I was doing a break roll
+snowboardprocamp I just bought a brand new k2 select ride 158 cm board and went to the slop the other day when I went to a hill side turn it felt as though it tried to fight me to cut into the snow to stop y would this happen
+Young ADV Many people think like you, including me :( .. but thats the reason pros are good, they are little crazy in their minds pushing through the fear of getting hurt
+Haxuu fear is an option. That is what will help you get better. If you can remember that then you will be more successful because you can do a lot more than your body thinks you can.
I'm scared of jumping and rails by myself and when I go with a friend, even if they're worse than me, they push me to do that stuff and that's how I get better. And I used to have that problem with blacks and just remember that you can take it as slow as you want, you don't have to go fast. You can plow the whole way down if you want, just progress more and more with speed and you'll be golden
Kristie Nemeth i pushed through my fear, went 100% for fs 360.. dislocated my shoulder, and its been 2 weeks since that happend and i can barely move my shoulder at all.. :(
LyingParachute Yeah, the biggest tip is to just be patient. Everyone learns at their own pace, so give them one thing at a time to work on. Give the person more to work on as they ask for it or if they're making really good progress. Also get them to watch my beginner videos. haha!
I love SnowProfessor's channel; it is basically snowboarding for dummies. They really do a good job of breaking down each step, plus they are funny (in a dorky kind of way.) Hope this helps!
I would say I'm a decent snowboarder. I can go as fast and "smooth" as i want, in the woods too, but I have never become any better in the park. I can"t even do a 360, and I"m too afraid to try, 'cause i fear that people will laugh at me failing. What should I do?
Hey SnowboardProCamp is there snow up at grouse mountain every day of the year of only when its winter? I am thinking about going to grouse mountain but im not sure yet.
Grouse is usually open late November until late April. They use snow machines to supplement natural snowfall, but unfortunately, on two occasions this year, in mid December, and over the last week, so much warm rain has fallen that most of the runs have closed again. Bummer.
great tips. got a question for you. my home mountain has terrain parks but the problem is there jumps are wired. Thanks to this channel, I feel ready and confident for this winter! I've been skiing for years but I feel so intreuged by boarding. Thanks again for all of the tips, now yet again I can't wait for snowfall!

Best of luck with surgery and therapy. Come back next year stronger than ever!
Thank you! I will :]
Should I thumbs up or thumbs down? How did you do it? That sucks. Do you stretch before riding?
These videos you put out are awesome.
excellent video and tips. for your confidence and motivation. I can see you are very successful person and have growth tremendously in the snowboarding . thanks for sharing your experience and tips. learn a lot watching your videos. you have passion in the snowboard and a great teacher .
I broke my arm skiing but I kept going next season and tried out snowboarding so far I love it and I'm working on tricks
dude what an awesome video. thanks for putting the thought and time into covering such seemingly simple yet often overlooked aspects of snowboarding when trying to progress
Super helpful! Love this video! All of it is so true! Whenever I go up with my friends that all want to progress, I do so much better! And learn more!

You are amazing I love your videos please continue making great videos
Quoting Rocky in a snowboard video? Awesome.
Really gd advice thanks
Do preventing injuries
I have snowboarded for many years. I know a lot of ways you can prevent injury, but would encourage a video covering that! Good on you sir!
Injuries is going to happen no matter what you try

ride switch. do everything on a board switch.

I need a new snowboard but it needs to be cheap. Do you have any suggestions?
Also, a very good tip would be to look and imitate the better snowboarders in the park. Whenever I see better snowboarders than me I have them make the jump first and observe their moves. Observe people every time, even when you are on the lift. :)
I do the same haha, time for me to practice switch tomorrow again!
+GTA Loony good luck mate! I am not sure if you already know this but a duck stance for me makes it easier to do a fakie.
i go up to snowboard at leate only a week a year, my goal this year is to ride a grind. Alli can do is boxes, 180 off smaller jumps. Could i acheve my goal?
+steve **rail
I only did snowboarding for less then 3 days and I could go on a box and do small jumps and small 180s so in a week yes you could
rails are easier than u think.

Could you do a video on how to do kinked rails?
awesome
That kid at the end is 101% more awesome than me :))
+snowboardprocamp I just bought a brand new k2 select ride 158 cm board and went to the slop the other day when I went to a hill side turn it felt as though it tried to fight me to cut into the snow to stop y would this happen
Yeah see I think I'm a pretty decent snowboarder, but im too afraid of pushing myself further on the blacks. Getting hurt just isn't worth it.
+Young ADV Many people think like you, including me :( .. but thats the reason pros are good, they are little crazy in their minds pushing through the fear of getting hurt

Can u make a new gear video for 2015 Plz?
Keep it up!
jumping onto rails tutorial please? (Ollie on from the side of rails)
Scott Meaw Just made that video: ruclips.net/video/NeY6sSsbbZw/видео.html
I've got the strongest enthusiasm around my crew, maybe it's best for me to train alone.
Everyone trying to progress in snowboarding, this is for you
Maybe there should be a video of how to practice snowboarding when a snowboard or snow slope is not available.
Keerthan Diddige You can do exercises that get you ready for snowboarding. ruclips.net/video/bDBJ6IclnBA/видео.html
Any tips how to teach someone snowboarding? I've beed riding for 3yrs. Thanks!
LyingParachute Yeah, the biggest tip is to just be patient. Everyone learns at their own pace, so give them one thing at a time to work on. Give the person more to work on as they ask for it or if they're making really good progress. Also get them to watch my beginner videos. haha!
SnowboardProCamp My friend have already seen all the videos, they're really helpfull ! Good work man, keep it up :)
I love SnowProfessor's channel; it is basically snowboarding for dummies. They really do a good job of breaking down each step, plus they are funny (in a dorky kind of way.) Hope this helps!
