Just come across this review, thanks for posting it. I have a cruise booked on it for early 2024 and another on it's sister ship the Spirit of adventure immediately before it. Cant wait. I cruised a few times on the old Spirit of Adventure and it's replacement the Quest for Adventure and loved them. My first cruise with the old Spirit was from Barbados, 1500k down the Amazon and back and it was the best 3 week port intensive cruise I've ever done. As an Australian I find It a shame Saga only seem to cruise ex UK now which limits the cruise destinations. In the past I have joined them in Barbados, Cuba, Borneo and Hong Kong for cruises to far too many exotic ports of call to mention. I have cruised on many of the megaships and Saga beats them hands down.
2023 update! Having just watched this again and shared with our friends who are joining us on Adventure next week, can confirm we are now Saga regulars.
Fabulous. We’d love to actually sail with them - we only spent one night on board for the christening and didn’t actually sail anywhere 😆 Thanks for watching and sharing 👍
Definitely my kind of ship! I love the promenade decks, as you pointed out that they are sadly missing on today’s behemoths. I agree with you about the bow, I was in the Merchant Navy and was doing the Titanic thing before “Titanic” was released (the film I mean, not the ship! I’m not that old or dead). Another gem vlog sir, more power to your elbow 😊
Thank you sir! A bow view is a lovely thing and I think they've missed an obvious trick here. It's a beautiful ship with a stunning strong bow, but nowhere to admire it!
I've already booked a cruise next year on this ship! It will be my first Saga cruise and Spirit of Discovery looks even better than I could have imagined! Can't wait! Many thanks for sharing your discoveries and opinions of this lovely ship
Hi Rich, the ship is lovely. I agree with your views of the ship, not too sure of the Lido though as you are, but the night view gave it a little more grandness. The stern of the ship reminded me of the old Royal Princess, as she had the same kind of rear end too, staircases and views. Looking forward to part two. greetings and salutations.
I love a real promenade deck that circles the entire ship, it's a great way to get a little walk and exercise and see everything around you. I also liked the LIDO pool deck design, simple and the right size for a smaller ship. The Terrace at the aft was perfect, every deck has a wake view.
Thanks for sharing! Very thorough as usual. I also love a bow view and disappointed that there is no place on the Spirit of Discovery to enjoy it. Also the stern design is quite unique and looks to be a nice place to enjoy watching the wake of the ship.
Great looking ship inside and out. The interiors are modern and elegant and having an open deck at the stern is a great design detail. Most new ships are not very attractive externally while Spirit of Discovery has really pleasing lines.
I saw her this morning docked at tilbury in Essex its great what thay have done offering her as a floating hospital as her first ever job she is a fantastic looks ship a thing of beauty
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. She's a total beauty and we can't wait to get on board Spirit of Adventure to do a video comparison. Please don't forget to subscribe (if you haven't already) and hit that bell notification button for future videos!
Looks lovely. Only thing that grates is that big LIDO sign with what looks like a white expanse of tupperware box behind it. I'm impressed the free coffee is good though!
I sat here thinking "I've seen this before", it took a few minutes, but, stay with me here, if Viking and Cunard had a baby, it would be the Spirit of Discovery, which IMHO is a great thing, I really like the look of the ship. Real coffee, pour your own, I like that touch. Well only 18 months until I could sail on her and truth be known it will probably be a couple of years after, but I could certainly see doing a Norway cruise on her.
Yes, you've hit the nail on the head! I was going to mention the similarity to Viking on the video and the service and style is very similar to Cunard. Great minds think alike sir! :D
@@visitwithus I don't know if you are going to do a cabin review, but I just watched another channel (sorry, I cheated on you) that showed the superior single, very very nice, however, I also just went and priced out a trip, pricing it against Viking Saga is about 30% more, is Saga 30% better ? I'm not so sure, but would love to be educated in this. Btw, if you reply and I don't get back to you, sorry, wife and I are heading out of town for a long weekend, pictures will be on instagram i'm sure.
@@lvthud Hi Dave. Yes, a standard cabin review coming up! Can't say wether Saga is better than Viking because we haven't sailed on either. The ships are very similar though. Have a great weekend! :D
Beautiful ship, excellent service along with friendly staff ! The rooms are top hotel standard 5⭐️plus especially with your own steward who will do their utmost to accommodate your requests also 24hr room service, we couldn’t ask for more , highly recommend even though it is tempting to keep it a secret 🤫 well done Saga !
What an absolutely stunning ship! It looks like Saga should really do well with bookings on the Spirit of Discovery. I liked all the design aspects that were featured. It will be interesting to see the interior of the sister ship, the Spirit of Adventure as I cannot think of how they could improve on the design of this one. The grand staircase looks wonderful with plenty of space and light. I love the design of the Lido and the fancy lighting at night turns the big funnel into an almost art deco feature at night. The only negative is passengers not being able to see the bow of the ship from any public areas and I'm assuming the sister ship will also have this same problem.
Travelled on this beautiful ship in 2019, wonderful experience and really sad when our 2020 cruise was cancelled due to pandemic. Can’t wait for our proposed 2021 cruise to Norway. Back in 2019 some cruise staff seemed unsure about their service but by now that should not be an issue. Looking forward to another great holiday.

Great review. Stunning interior, probably the best I've seen. Love how contemporary and airy she is, stunning. I do like the large white wall with the funnel atop, reminds you your actually on a large ship. Love the promenade wrapping around the whole ship, same as the Superstar Virgo/Leo from the same builder. Not so keen on the aft however. Look forward to part 2. I'm torn... Now seeing the entire video. That promenade! And that terraced aft! Yes, both beautiful, rare, dignified, and with purpose. The only ship that seems to offer both is Crystal Symphony (and maybe Serenity but haven't been on her yet). Though Crystal does provide bow views too.. it has the triple threat... Bow, promenade, and terraced aft. Thanks for a great tour!
And of course former Crystal Harmony, now Asuka II. She had/has same design as Symphony. She was given to Crystal's former, and original parent company's catering to the Japanese. I believe the only ships out there built in Japan.
This ship is absolutely gorgeous. My kind of peace and tranquility crushing. My only pause is the grand dining room with the large table sitting people so close to one another you barely have room to eat. (See large table of 16 people seating) not sure if you could select your own tables or not but that would be my preference. Thanks for the video.
She's beautiful isn't she? The grand dining room has tables of all sizes and didn't seem claustrophobic or too close together. If you don't want to sit with anyone else, I'm sure it's not a problem at all. :)

Fantastic video. Really well shot with great compositions, information, commentary style and non-intrusive background music. For improvement, there were a few issues with some shots being out of focus. Also, often the wide open aperture meant that you often couldn't see the whole room because it was blurred out. Bokeh has its place, but needs to be a conscious decision for that artistic look! Before all, the video is a wonderful piece of brief yet complete report, going into details to the right extend ! I have been looking forward many months to learn how Saga would fill-in their promises... and I rest amazed about the abundance of traditional assets, cruise ships out of a paradise dream should feature, turned into reality aboard this maritime marvel of this times ! It seems almost surreal to me that creating a cruise ship of this kind, size and spaciousness, full of contemporary artwork and stylish interiors proves to be possible. While admiring the fantastic open decks ("The Terrace", the promenade deck, the sun decks), allowing to enjoy what "days at sea" bring to life, it is for sure Spirit of Discovery offers Saga unlimited opportunities to treat their onboard passengers to a unique experience of genuine cruising.
Haha! Thanks. I do a little bit of narration here and there, but only when I can fit it in. Thank you so much! :D Here's a link to a recent one - www.amazon.co.uk/Poems-Surviving-Modern-Life-Collection/dp/B08YRVC2JT/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1617267150&sr=8-1
No view of the bow? MAJOR pet peeve and I will not sail on any ship that deprives of that pleasure, and for me, a necessity in orientation. I've been on dozens of ships, and after experiencing 2 without bow views, I now check before any consideration. It just so frustrating to the point of anger inducing because it's just obvious and easy to include. It would be like designing an oceanfront hotel, with no views of the ocean! Bah! I've said enough... But have I made my preference for bow views known ?
Haha! I totally agree about it being obvious and easy to include. I can't understand why they didn't TBH. Maybe Spirit of Adventure will rectify this by extending the Britannia Balcony over the bridge roof? Can't be that difficult!
@@visitwithus if they do, then it's on my list. Great review as always. Your style of commentary reminds me of the bulletin boards on Prodigy. It was intimate with ship lovers and always respectful. One of the contributors actually founded cruise critic, but I find that site to be impersonal and not geared toward discussions.
@@visitwithus .. I thought all ships were measured in feet and inches. ... It's a practice that the maritime industry uses, along with the English language which also applies to the aviation industry.

@@visitwithus bet that was a kick in the teeth for a single day. We are on board next year luckily my wife hasn’t started packing as yet but come August things will change.
At least it has a raked aft, which is something that is sadly missing from most new cruise ships. Would’ve loved a public bow view though. You can’t see it from anywhere on the ship. 🙁
I would like to have seen the number of lifts to all floor available, none shown, and where the hundreds of mobilty scooters would be parked! Looks OK if you are fully mobile, but a waste of time for the intended market. Where is the Cinema? Shopping? Bars? Pub? Cabaret lounge? Conference Centre? Ice rink? Nothing shown of the kitchens or menus! As for desgin looks clean but bland not being able to see the bow is madness. Id probaby do a three day cruise but any longer don't think so. So the comedians wil! Carry on with the Saga jokes on rival cruise ships. Saga Theatre fantastic not a dry seat in the house! Shame could have done so much more with this.

Haha!
Please give dimensions in feet ...... not metres. Thank you
Thanks for watching! Will do! :D
@@visitwithus .. I thought all ships were measured in feet and inches. ... It's a practice that the maritime industry uses, along with the English language which also applies to the aviation industry.
Google it yourself. Easy to do.
cabin sound insulation not good enough
We'll let you know when we've done a full voyage on her. :) I hope you consider subscribing as we have so much more to come in 2021! :D
We have 30 days on there in the States room, going to the carribean on 7th November to 7th December...This will be out 5th cruise but on Sapphire before...🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Sounds great! Have fun 🤩
Thanks for watching 👍
Way much better than Viking Ocean Cruises.
Thanks for watching 👍
It look's like one of those computer generated impressions!
Yes, they've done a remarkable job in making the real ship look almost exactly like their renderings. It's a fantastic ship!
No view of the cabins. Shame.
Sorry, we didn’t have access or time, we were only on for a day.
@@visitwithus bet that was a kick in the teeth for a single day. We are on board next year luckily my wife hasn’t started packing as yet but come August things will change.
An abundance of sunloungers, but an absence of side tables. Better learn to juggle your drink, book, sunglasses, sun lotion and hat then?
Haha! Or have a large lap. 😂
Music spoil it
Thanks for watching Rob. You can always re-watch on mute? ;)
It’s just bad it has the typical ugly profile of cruise ships today. Contemporary naval architects stink!
You'll never know unless you try her Julian. Who knows, you may completely change your perspective! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! :)
You are asking for an ice rink for an over 50s ship? Sounds like the recipe for a couple of broken hips on board on every cruise!
Agreed. It does seem between Cunard and Viking in quality. Priced accordingly!
