Benchmarks are LIVE! www.patreon.com/posts/xiaomi-showdown-112826953 It's a fun showdown between two Xiaomi phones! Slate versus Foldable! Qualcomm vs Mediatek! Here's the scoop on REAL WORLD performance and some thoughts on gaming! A HUGE thank you to my Patrons for supporting production on this channel!
It's SO nice that band support is improving for T-Mo, but it still sucks that we're not quite there like where we were at the end of LTE for global phone support.
@SomeGadgetGuy i have the 13 for a backup and b roll device. I live in east Texas with 60ft pine trees. Unless I'm in town, I'm searching for signal more than I should.
Yup. I'm out in the burbs. It's gotten so much better, but I still dont feel like I can daily one exactly the same as I can a USA phone. It has improved over last year though, which is nice to see.
I mean I'm still using my 13 Ultra in the US and I'm content, but I do like flip phones partly because of some of the content I can make it with it :). I might pick this one up
My main gripe with Xiaomi phones is how restrictive they are with experimentation. There's enough room that most people might not come across those limits, but if you like serious customization and play around with launchers and more inn depth customization, you'll soon come across the limits of what they'll allow you to do
I really need to find a way to make those points more of my videos, but there's SO little interest these days in even basic functionality discussions. I feel the era of tinkering and customizing is almost dead.
Still much more customisable than OneUI. It is still a bit overwhelming for most people. The only time I was complaining about customisation was when I was using TouchWiz and OneUI. I remember slapping MIUI on older galaxy phones.
I wish there were more phones that are similar to a moon drop MIA D01 android phone since it has a 3.5 mm unbalanced headphone and 4.4 mm balance headphone jack. The moon drop android phone has dual physical sim card support, 5g support, 5,000 mah, 6.7 inch 120 hz 1080p oled display, micro sd card slot, dual cirrus logic master hifi flagship dac chip and 33 watt charging. I wish that fiio and topping made android phones and with fiio they would implement the thx amp like the fiio q3 and use an ess sabre dac.
I really appreciate your analogy of phones with laptops. One size doesn't fit everyone. These flip phones are helpful when I want to disconnect from a regular phone and be more present.
From somebody with Flip6 eho enjoys the form factor: fitting in pockets (women pants pockets aren't very phone friendly) and easy to carry in scrubs at work are good enough trade off for me, even tho I would have loved a better camera system. I used to carry my slab phone in my hand most of the time, since it fitted so awkwardly in my jeans pocket. Now I walk no phone in hand :).
@@SomeGadgetGuy yeah, maybe younger generation will be different since they wear looser clothing, I just wanted to add my perspective, since I have seen few guys saying "who the hell needs those" (But then again some guys get them too! It is not and should not be a gender thingy. Smaller screen not being all that convinient is actally good when trying to cut down on screen time etc. 😅).
I'm waiting for anyone who acts like that's a downgrade. You can IMMEDIATELY ignore anything that person has to say about tech. I published my head to head between the Mix Flip and the 14t Pro, and that mediatek is a MONSTER...
Most people that complain about that only care about high end emulation, especially now that Windows game emulation has become the new shinny toy in the Android world (for whatever reason). God knows why people are spending hundreds/thousands of dollars on mobile devices with the aim of playing PC games on potato settings instead of just building a low end PC that can do the same without turning into a nuclear reactor.
@@Albert-SC08you cant put a PC in your pocket and besides mobile gaming is very popular in asian countries....only western ppl like you bash ppl for playing games on phones
I have a Samsung Z Flip 5 and as you say it's really fun and my rationale for buying it is I've never been a watch wearer (Analog or Smart). Being a geek I also have a OnePlus 12R and I keep the SIM in one phone for 2 weeks then swap. Each phone has its pros. The Z flip is less distracting if I don't open it, but the OnePlus has the alert slider and VOOC charging which is mind blowing if you've never had a fast charging phone before. Overall I like the fold form factor but it's not a must for me. A slab phone has its advantages too. I am salty that the Z Flip doesn't have Dex! (It has display out). How cool would a little puck micro PC be? Even on the Flip 6, no Dex.
I just don't want the added Flip and Unflip step to interact with my mobile My wife, OTOH, loves her flip and not just because it fits in Girl Pockets. Geeze, yes I wish phones were more, even generally, categorized!
That's EXACTLY it. I kinda LIKE that action of opening and closing BECAUSE I want to use my phone less LOL. I just turn to a smartwatch as my gatekeeper. My wife's purse is where gadgets go to die. She took one look at the Flip and just laughed. "I'd kill it in a week..."
As interesting as flip phones are I agree I don't think they're for me. Although I may buy one just to experience it one day. I thought your idea of reviewing phones based their broad category. Really enjoyed the video!
Nice review. The flip form factor isn't for me. Though when I used my v60 with the removable second screen for a mini laptop format, Sometimes I would have found it handy to have a second screen attach to the top, forming a 6. 8" flip communicator that doubled screen size vertically. I sometimes hold two phones like that for ease of use. That would be a tricky and niche bit of innovation - a removable second screen that could be attached to the side or top of a phone. Out of curiosity how long does the xiaomi get updates for? Security and OS. The last Xiaomi I had only got 2 years which put me off and their speed to delivery updates wasn't great.
The situation is the best it's ever been in the 5G era, but yeah, we still cant always count on total band support for USA carriers. 5G feels like such a scam.
Haaaas anyone made what would essentially be a Watch Band Case for any of the Flip Phones on the market? I mean, sure it would be a ridiculous form factor, but I'll wager some folks would use it... Hell, even Google Glass sold some units
@@SomeGadgetGuy If I knew how to make such a thing, I might! LOL In the Long Time Ago, I was the guy who wanted to wear my mobile, in landscape, on my wrist.... Because 1970s Sci Fi tv really got into my brain as a kid 🤣🤣🤣

Great video as ever. Please can you tell me what is the video app you displayed?! Is it capcut or something else?!
If only Xiaomi can be as brave as Samsung by giving USB3 with wired video output. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is plenty overkill for everyday use.
USB3 as in? Because the rebranding of USBC screwed up the naming scheme
@@CGGS_0 USB-C 3.1/3.2
@@CGGS_0 Xiaomi Mix Flip has an USB-C, but it only uses USB 2.0 speeds, where as Samsung Z Flip 6 uses USB 3.2 speeds (which are much faster).
@@chujackam Yes, however the Z Flip doesn’t have a dock/desktop mode tho. So, your point being?
@@CGGS_0 Technically, Z Flip6 has DeX, but not the Classic version. Instead, you only get the New DeX version made for tablet screens.
Wish we could run these in the USA! I would have their folder!

I tried keeping people interested throughout the LG Quad DAC era. It's a shame techies were the ones mostly chilling that feature out.
I really appreciate your analogy of phones with laptops. One size doesn't fit everyone. These flip phones are helpful when I want to disconnect from a regular phone and be more present.
It's EXACTLY that kind of use that I think makes the Flip more successful than the mini-tablet for most consumers.

That makes a lot of sense. And really, what's the deal with women's pockets? They make no sense.

7:17 fantastic point. This is what's happening in the tablet space now with the Tab S10 Ultra going with a Mediatek chip over Snapdragon.

Except for Oppo N3 flip which has the exact triple camera used in OnePlus 11. Still not the best but much better than any Z flips or Razr to date

The vertical camara bump looks ugly preffer the Flip 6 Camara with the horizontal camara even if the screen is a bit smaller.
