    This is amazing! I'm going to get one of these, even though the machine is 10 years old, boss got the convenience and fun factor down here, yes iPads are surpreme but carrying around an interface, mic, pads for the equivalent of the button mashing in this video makes it a bit less fun and more of a hassle with the extra wires and what not, this all in one is really cool! The vintage feel helps too, thank goodness for eBay!

    I just bought a unit because of this video even though it’s outdated, this thing is just so unique and dope I would love to have modern version of a 8 track with a built in sampler. with midi controls too would be so fye

    What? I had no idea. I've had this unit for almost 15 years now and there's so much that it does that I just don't know.
    It's just amazing.
    I just wish the interface was easier to work with. (For me)

    Hey man!!! Do you know if this machine has "choke" groups like the MPC? I wanna make some beats on it but can't seem to find a way to chop some samples without em overlapping each other 👇😩
    Also..do you know if the samples lock to the overall tempo of the project?? Love your channel man! Greetings from Spain!!!

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  Год назад +2

      I'm so glad you like the channel :) Sadly the answer is 'no' to The 'choke' thing. It's primarily a recorder so sampling options are quite limited. Although, if you have a sequenced beat and replace the drum sounds with samples, it will remain in time even if you change tempo.

      It's difficult to service. First thing I'd suggest is go to an electronics store and see if they have some spray to improve it, or any other advice. Those people can be really helpful.

      Not sure if it provides the necessary phantom power, but you can google the manual (Search "Boss BR600 PDF")

      Great question! I can't remember clearly (I haven't had this machine for a long time) but yes I think it was possible to route the pad sounds through the master effect, or record them in an un-editable way with an effect active.

    Hi, thanks for your video, just wondering if i can download the songs i have created on my laptop with a windows 10 operating system. When I bought it it was compatible with XP and windows 2000: On the backup, it does recognize the card, but it doesn't seems to show the tracks I have recorded. thank you in advance for your advice

      I've been using the BR Wave Converter software (free from Boss) with Windows 10 and it seems to work fine. It's not very 'smooth' software, in fact it's quite annoying in some ways but it gets the job done perfectly. You can load and save tracks as individual wav files. It's far from perfect but it's better than just copying the files straight off the card. I hope that helps. I may be uploading a video about this very soon. :) GF

    Where is the song or track you are playing and chopping up coming from though, and how did you get it on there to do so? Are you just using track one for this, and can you select any of the other tracks to do this?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  5 лет назад

      Hi Nathan. The source sound is recorded to track one as a normal continuous track. The sampler takes little bits out of that track to use as its samples. You can grab sounds from any track and assemble them into kits. As a kit, they will occupy the drum track which is a separate thing on its own so all your recorded tracks will be unaffected by the sampling process (I say sampling, but it's not really true sampling - still a useful tool though!) @@gearfacts Thanks alot for the feed back. It just seems like so much on this thing, my buddy gave me this and the manual, there is no way, unless I absolutely had to, is read that thick thing. And yeah, this is great, because I might not even need a sampler to make my own voice sounds and instrument/synth sounds now, so this was really helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks again brother. Keep it up. It's because of people like you that we can learn different options and how to use these tools given to us.

      It's just a nifty 8 track recorder really. The 'sampling' side of things, if you can really call it that, is just a kind of a bonus.

    youve got to be kidding?! people ...buy a SP606 over this for sampling if you must buy old stuff.... this is too time consuming menu driven to be musically useful ...disrupts workflow..... lifes too short ...i was looking to buy one of these as a line in digital recorder to record vinyl dj-ing as the small recorders with mics ie tascam dr-05 dont have line in but this br600 only uses max 1 GB compact flash cards and records wav ONLY...

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  6 лет назад

      trailwayz Hi there, the point of the video wasn’t that it’s a good sampler, it was more that it has a pseudo-sampling feature that users can access. It’s useful for assembling a song in blocks, saving the composer the time of copying and pasting phrases multiple times. So yeah, not a great sampler in its own right but a good multi track recorder that uses samples and sequencing as a tool. Thanks for watching Gearfacts:)
