Hey man, I have the exact same thoughts about this camera. In fact, I love it so much I've had two! It's small enough to not take up space in the bag, but too big to fit in a pocket, and a little too heavy for its grip. I've been through many micro four thirds cameras. However, I have sold many of them. The GX85 was my favourite for a time, but have since sold it. Right now, I only have two cameras - my original Lumix GF7 as the "small" camera and a bigger DSLR camera (I kind of converted to DSLR for ergonomics, feedback and the OVF). I even used to have many Lumix lenses, but now just have the 12-32mm and the 20mm - that's it! The reason I stuck with the GF7 is because that's my first camera (sentimental) and I also noticed the images look very similar across pretty much any mirrorless camera so there was no reason to keep two or more of the same. Nevertheless, if I didn't have my GF7 first, I would still have my GX85 - it's an excellent camera still and I definitely miss the IBIS. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Sling bag solves all these problems for me personally. It's easy to imagine that the smaller camera will open things up somehow but mostly, it won't. You could look at the Pentax Q maybe if you want interchangeable lenses. Do you think it's possible that you're allowing consumerist desire to tempt you into getting something when what you have is perfectly fine?
I have GH5M2.. bought several lenses.. the camera size is bigger than apsc. But i’m willing to sacrifice for its stellar stabilisation as well its lens ecosystem. Finally i bought smaller size lumix GX10.. it is my daily camera for my hobby and testing my lenses as both share the same lens platform. Try to look at that camera, it is cheaper with its limitation it drives me to shoot video and picture everyday. Just a suggestion.
@@JonathanPace I have the GM1 and the GF7, with the 20mm, the 14mm f 2.5 or the 12-32 zoom they fit in any pocket. As the 20 and 14 have a focus ring, you can do manual focus simply by moving the ring even if the AF is still on, or if you disconnect the AF you can focus quickly just by moving the ring. That's impossible to do with the Ricoh GR because since the lens doesn't have a focuse ring, everything has to be controlled from the screen. You also have the 15mm f 1.7 which is a little bigger but in addition to the focus ring it has a diaphragm ring and a switch to turn the AF on/off with which you can access all the fundamental functions of the camera from the switch to manual manuals
That’s so true, and one of the reasons why I was saying that every choice comes with a compromise unfortunately 🤦♂️ your take on this is really interesting, thanks Alvaro!
@@alvaro5162 I have a GM1 and GX80. The GM1 has the 20mm/1.7 on it and is a pocket camera that is replacing my Iphone camera for all photography (no video). The GX80 has the 15mm/1.7 on it though sometimes I put the 20mm on it. I technically don't need the 15mm/1.7, I could just use the 20mm for both. cameras. I use the GX80 for actual street photography and video, where I go out planning on taking photos or video. I think the GX80 is a legitimately much better camera due to stab, 4k video and ease of use for photography. The GM1 is just a fun camera to take around with me everywhere and take random photos. I'm curious to see what I end up having better content with.
Why not buy a smaller camera? I cannot understand why any one would purchase a camera and then complain about the size. It is what it is and in this case you know exactly what your are getting regarding the size as soon as you pick it up.
@@davidcooper6704 Hi David! This video is ironic as you can understand from the tone, I like the camera (I've been using it for years) and it is objectively small compared to the average camera, this is a provocation about the fact that no matter how much you like something, it won't tick all the boxes, so you'll have to adapt 👍
You're not getting anything smaller. It fits in my jacket and it's great along with my pancake lenses along with my oly pl10.
@@psysword true, it’s really difficult to find something smaller without sacrificing its characteristics

Go for a GM5 if tou like to have viewfinder or a GM1 or GF7 if not, same 16 megapíx sensor with and smaler body
