I recently bought this lens for my 6-year old daughter, to use it on my old PEN E-PL7, because it was cheap and tiny. I gave it a try and was quite impressed. Still love my Olympus 17/1.8 more
Love this lens. It goes everywhere with me (heck it is with me right now on a trip to London). So light, and I think it looks great, plus low profile on the street.
Best informative video I have seen of this lens. I tried to decide of getting this one or the 20mm Panasonic lens. Thanks to your videos I got a better picture of them and know what to get.
PL 15 is truly a special lens! I do use the PL15 a lot and always loving the result. The 14mm is more for like travel and fun stuff, while PL15 is more for serious stuff.
Thank you for this video. I wanted the 20mm f1.7 but did not like the price. I do need a wider lens though so I will get this for my GX80. I already have the 25mm at 1.7 so a nice cheap setup. Really well laid out review. 👍🏾
Nice informative video Gary. I have a question to you. Compare it with 12-32 at 14mm is this lenses better or simiral except of course the bigger aperture. Im thinking to buy this lenses but i always stoped because of my good (but goring) 12-32mm lumix one.
Thank you for the kind words! I do think it's very identical especially in terms of sharpness. I also have the 12-32mm, and I do think the 12-32mm is more flexible. The 14mm f2.5 is more like a sort of a "fun" lens, I use it to get a little bit more "character" out of an image, especially for environmental portrait.
Nice video, to the point and informative! My favorite prime is the Oly 25mm f1.8, because it's the only prime lens i have ;) My other lens is the kit telephoto 40-150, so I'm actually working on finding a kit 12-32mm, before i can afford the 12-40 f2.8 pro lens :)
I used to have the Oly 25mm f1.8 too, such a nice lens, great image quality too. Good luck with the 12-32mm, I hope you'll get a good deal! Thanks for the kind words 😁
@@Gary_W I just found one, $80 used including shipping, I'm happy with that :) And I just learned about TTArtisan and Brightin Star lenses, so I'm definitely going to look into those in the future as well for budget options. Thanks again for your hard work!
How does it compare to the 15mm in terms of field of view? Do you find one or the other more restricting? Which do you prefer for which situations (ignoring brightness/bokeh considerations)?
The 14mm and 15mm is very similar in terms of field of view, I don't feel like I'm missing the extra 1mm wideness of the 14mm when I'm using the 15mm. In fact, I often confuse myself looking at the images taken using both lenses, I frequently forget which one is taken with which lens especially if there's no other telling signs like the extra bokeh of the 15mm.
Production quality: 10/10
Information value: 10/10
Entertainment value: 10/10
Love your reviews!
Thank you very much for the kind words 😁
well discussed and gre info ! you may have just convinced me to buy one…thanks for the fab video

Both lenses are actually very impressive. I used to own Olympus 17mm f1.8 as well.

Enjoy the lens, currently also my favorite for general purpose walk around lens.

@@Gary_W thank you too 😊
Thanks for the video. I prefer the PL 15mm f1.7 because it is a bit faster.

It is just a must-have lens for any Lumix-Olympus camera, specially for street photography😊
It really is, also great for travel and everyday photography too!
Very nice video. I have it and like it a lot, but my everyday lens is the 7Artisan 18/6,3 mk II.
I should check out the 7artisan lens, I think it is an interesting option as well. Cheers!

Thank you for the kind words! I think you will enjoy the 14mm, I use it a lot frequently nowadays.
My preference at the moment is the Olympus 17mm f1.8 but also like the Lumix 25mm f1.7 when I am looking for the 50mm equiv look.
Thanks for sharing! Both are great lenses!

So I should not be buying it then as I have 1232 yoo

@@nicojan that definitely is a good deal! I made a review about the TTArtisan 25mm f0.95, it's a nice lens too from my experience. All the best 😁😁
The smallest and lightest mft lens that I own is the Olympus 9mm f/8.
That sounds like an interesting lens, thanks for sharing!
