+TrailRecon Oh cool and thanks! I'll be doing this procedure again to accommodate the 37's now. I'm going to try to get access to a buddy's table saw this time and make quick work of it.
37's will be awesome! I've got to wear down my original set of tires before I can convince the wife I need to upgrade to 35's..... I need to go do some more burnouts or something! LOL
Awesome!! I just installed some today that I got from a fellow Jeeper and the price was right. I noticed they were a bit long back there with my 35’s... you definitely went super geek mode. Great job. I will probably cut a few of those corners.
JEEPARMY USA we think so too.. The NotaRubicon currently has some step sliders that stick too far out, and too far down.. we’re always getting hung up on them.. cant wait to change to something less giant and ‘rock catchee”
Nice brother! That's a really good deal. If I could have done anything differently, I would have trimmed 2 inches vs 1 inch. It worked fine for 35's but now on 37's.
my next project,i put a set on little over a year ago and with 2.5 inch lift and 35 inch tires its tight, just took them off today to put some poison spyder body armor on then gonna cut rubi rails and put back on, nice writeup
hey man. i literally have the same jeep as you. i have a 2016 sport in the granite metallic and i was wondering how it looked with black wheels etc . its a rare color to see so is hard to look at someone elses.
Nice video. I like your method of doing this. Well thought out. Do you think you needed the epoxy though? Did you trim enough that you won't ever have to do it again? Thanks for the video.
Since you have a lot of experience with your Jeep, I need some advice. If the Jk is going to be my daily driver and occasional off-road trails. I plan to add bigger tires and rock rails. What would you model would you recommend to purchase?
Any Wrangler will be very good off road. The most import thing would be try and get a 2012 or newer with automatic and 4.10 gears. You will be able to run up to 35 inch tires with that combination. I personally wouldn't go over 33 inch tires unless you plan on extreme trails. I have the Rubicon but a careful driver in a sport can go anywhere a Rubicon can. My suggestion would be a four door, hard top automatic Willys Wheeler if you can find a good deal on one.
Walter Sigona Thanks for replying. I got a 15' Rubi 2 months ago. Enjoying it so far. I don't have 4.10 gears though and plan to run 35s and do some light trails. Sounds like that may not be a good idea.
***** have you had any tires rub on the lower control arms, fenders, or edges of the bumper at full turn or flex? really on the fence about 35's, i also have 3.73 gears on my jk.
+Rommel R Hey man! Thank you for watching. I'll have to take a look at that setup online. There are so many rail options out there now. What's the name of those rock guards? Are they the rocker knockers?
JEEPARMY USA it seems like I have to put a body lift to place a rock rails bolted onto the body and a rocker knocker bolted onto the frame to create that space.
Tim Sharky Productions Sorry about the late response. Just saw this in my notifications. Thanks for the comment and the fenders are just stock fenders.
My son and I were just talking about probably having to cut ours when the time comes to upgrade the tires... great detailed install video!

Crazy how things have changed for trail recon randomly saw this comment
@@TrailRecon How's things looking 5 years later? haha
Great timing, I was eyeballing Rubicon Rails. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for this! Picking up mine tomorrow ($50, almost brand new!).
Cleanest looking rock sliders ever. There are others that offer more protection but these are definitely the cleanest.

NotaRubicon Productions Not aRubicon is awesome 👍
Great video 👍
Just picked up a set on Craigslist for $80. Thanks for the writeup

+JeepArmy USA Did yours sit about 1/2" off the body? I'm assuming they are supposed to so they can flex a bit but I wasn't 100% sure.
Yup, totally normal. When your in town pull up along side a parked Rubicon and you'll see.
+JeepArmy USA appreciate it man
Brave man doing this over white carpet.
RyeinBee lol. It's just old garage carpet. I hope my buddy AJ doesn't see this comment... It's his garage :\ hahahaha #friendslife
Thanks. Picked up set for same price $100. Your video was right on.
+zulumastiff Nice!! Thanks for watching!

+Drew Brown it's a great color with black accents! I have more pics on IG @jeeparmyusa
Great work! What tires and wheels exactly? I dig this setup for sure! thx!
+Greg Shrewsbury 315/70/17 inch Goodyear wrangler duratracs and KMC Endure 122's in this video. Thanks for watching!!
+JEEPARMY USA Outstanding, thanks again!
+Greg Shrewsbury of course brother! #Jeepwave
U have a bad ass jeep playa!
Thank you my G.
Nice video. I like your method of doing this. Well thought out. Do you think you needed the epoxy though? Did you trim enough that you won't ever have to do it again? Thanks for the video.
Thank you! The epoxy was just to hold it in. I was afraid vibration would shake it loose. And yes I had to do it again with 37’s then again at 40’s.
I got a set but mine didn't have the screws :( what kind should get? Just regular half inch? And what was the other one?
Did your end caps have plastic pins holding them in? Mine do and I think I have to drill them out to get the caps out.
Yes I just cut through them.
Nice detail video 👍
Quick question will these fit a sport model JKU??
Just picked up my first Jeep last weekend and found some local for sale
Yes, mines a sport 👍🏽
Sweet good to hear!!
Do you have to trim if you have 35s?

My suggestion would be 285 75 17 or 295 70 17 tires. They are a 34 inch tires and would be ok with your 3.73 gears.
Can you get replacement caps?
what size lift and tires are you running?
35 inch Goodyear wrangler duratracs and 2.5 inch Teraflex coil lift with teraflex shocks. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe.
***** have you had any tires rub on the lower control arms, fenders, or edges of the bumper at full turn or flex? really on the fence about 35's, i also have 3.73 gears on my jk.
I was planning to put this rock rails on my 2 door...on top of that I also want to put a tubular rock guard by spider. You think it would fit?

What size of socket for the bolts on the rockers?
He said 10mm for the little ones and 1/2" for the bigger ones. I guessing you could also use 14mm or 15mm in place of the 1/2".
do u hapen to kno torque specs jus swoopt up a set yesserday 70bux
very nice looking jk you've got there. what kind of fenders are those?
Tim Sharky Productions Sorry about the late response. Just saw this in my notifications. Thanks for the comment and the fenders are just stock fenders.
@JeepArmy USA
Can the rails take the abuse?
I believe so. They are definitely thick and heavy. I guess it depends on how bad the abuse is :)
Where can buy the kit of rail guard, can send me a link! Thanks everybody!
Aye got a nice set for $40 :D
+SuperCellProductions nice!

13mm & 10mm. Looks a little anal of you filing, grinding, cleaning, then painting and gluing.
A little anal...🤔
