For all of you who read the crawl during this video, I will tell you the story of my nickname, Coco. But I warned you it wasn't very exciting! Here goes. Back in the late 1980s, I worked in recording studios as an engineer and MIDI technician. I was in a session working with the producer/writer of the biggest one-hit-wonder single to ever come out of Minneapolis. He and his co-producer were working on the arrangement for a new song. They were playing synths and drum machines and I was working the Macintosh. They were having a disagreement over how to transition from the chorus to the bridge of the song. I knew my place in the session was as a technician, and not part of the creative team. Still, I piped up with my idea of how best to proceed. The co-producer turned to me and said, "Who do you think you are? The co-co-producer?" We all had a good laugh, and the name stuck. All my musician friends called me Coco for many years, and some still do. There. I told you it was boring. 😀
Coco Channel ??? Nay. I will stick with Rob. No use for lights here, you know. The seeds I sowed before Christmas are already producing loads of fruit. In one week or so, I expect to have 100's of ripe fruit, followed by 1,000s hi to Kat. Stay safe
Thank you Rob for your very thoughtful and candid review of this series of Sansi LED Grow lights. I would like to comment on the service side of Sansi lights through experience. Not so long ago I had a 70W version of these lights similar to the one you review here. For reasons I do not know, one of the LEDs went dark, and another went into a strobe like flashing mode. I established contact with Sansi, provided pictures of the issue at their request, and on very short order a replacement light arrived. I would have to say then that Sansi delivers on a quality product and is prepared to quickly respond should an issue evolve. Thank you for this update. Happy Easter as you may enjoy. Happy Gardening! -Bob...
First time indoor grower. I've been using the Sansi 40watt bulb. The results are astonishing, peppers flourish, and the bulbs don't get hot, or run up my electricity.
Honestly, Rob, you're the reason I ended up purchasing these (using your affiliate link of course) and my plants have NEVER been happier. :) My garden doesn't get prolonged sun in any area due to a large tree shading majority of it so I spend a lot of my day moving pots, chasing the sun, but this helped ease that burden. We also receive a lot of extreme heat (40C and up) so putting my plants under these lights instead of the scorching sun definitely saved them. Thanks so much for your in depth and honest review. I'll be using your affiliate link more in the future as my pepper collection is expanding!
That's a very nice comparison, Rob! Thanks for sharing that. I'll probably be sending folks to this video often, as I get asked a lot about which lights to use. You did a great job breaking it down. Your plants look great too!
This is my first year growing peppers and I've settled on the Sansi 70w thanks to your reviews. As a bonus, it just so happened to be on Amazon day sale for around $45! I Really enjoy the channel and look forward to more pepper packed content. Cheers!
I love their lights, been using them since the fall for houseplants, and it helped my plants through the winter. I was surprised you didn't mention the 40w version that they have, it's not geared for plants, but works just as good as 24w or 36w one, well it's better I find than the 24w one. I had no idea they had smaller ones, definitely need to grab some of those.
Your content is the best, Rob! Literally just today, my 60W Sansi light came in that I bought after seeing your last video. It's a great product. Stay safe and have a good season
The CRI rating of these LEDS is astounding! I am in the process of buying the 100 watt version. I will be building a small wooden enclosure for the light fixture using an 80mm axial fan to pull the heat through the fixture and out of my 36"×18"×42" grow cabinet. I have two 4" duct flanges(one inside cab, one outside) and a dust filtration inlet. Inside the cab is covered with highly reflective white poly-paper (panda paper). I also have HID lights and a 250 watt phantom digital ballast in case I needed more power... With my HPS bulbs I get around 33,500 lumens but it is warm. I used to use a 200 cfm inline blower with carbon filter for vegetation smells. I'm curious how the LED will fare.
Thank you! This easy to understand video finally answered all my questions about the grow light bulbs and measuring the light efficiency. Terrific video
Great reviews! This helped me figure out which lights I need for me setup this year. I'd love to hear your thoughts on pros and cons between different types of pots (fabric, plastic, ceramic) in a future video.
Hey Rob Love your channel and the work you put into it. I'm a HUGE fan. I just got into growing a few plants and now because of your channel I have the confidence to grow more. Keep up the great work! Already looking forward to the next video. Love em all. Keep growing those hot peppers!
Thanks a lot for this video Rob! As a first time pepper grower I was looking for a grow light that is not crazy expensive, this video helped me decide what to get. The video is also fun to watch. Subscribed!
Done a review on the 70 watt and the 60 watt wing light. Loved both! I am using the wing light for my lettuce that will grow year round in my living room. Highly recommend Sansi lights.
Great video, was waiting eagerly to decide. My first attempt to grow this winter in Melbourne coming to us in couple of months. My earlier attempts were not much successful. Thanks for the detail video. Thanks
Great video! And I love my Sansi grow lights! They do the job I need and are very reasonable for me! I believe you were the one that told me about them. I thank you for that....Thank you Rob!! 🙃🔥❣️
Thank you for this review this is my first year growing peppers from seed and second year growing peppers in general and I’ve been shopping for a grow light and this helped a lot I appreciate it! I’m going to try the 70 watt!
what light do you thinks is the best for a variegated plant? i want to have a set-up in my room and i dont really care about the size of the grow light.I need one that can cover like 4-5 plants.
I don't think variegated plants need different lighting than other plants. If you're talking 4-5 full-size pepper plants, none of these lights would cover that much area with just one light. You'll need multiple lights or one that's more powerful.
Nice overview Rob, I had already added a 60W Sansi to my family of Spider Farmer lights. Due in part to the plants getting bigger, and spreading them out more! Harold~
I think you need an average of at least 150-200 FC. Plants can have more somedays and less other days (just like outdoors) but that would be the average over time. Of course, more is better.
Thanks for the suggestion. I do grow a couple of tomato plants, but I don't have room to grow much more than peppers in our small yard. Maybe next year!
Hi there! Great video :-) If I wanted to give a little extra ooomph to my houseplants (mainly Calatheas, Monstera, Ivy, Pothos and Zamioculcas) do you think a 36W would be okay and if so can I keep it even a bit further than 15" so that I get more of them "in the frame". I was thinking of just giving the ones in the dark corners a little extra light every other day.
The quantum board models can put out more light but also consume more energy, so it's a trade-off. I think the SANSI lights are more efficient and possibly more reliable.
Loved it Rob, thank you! It's a shame that this year you probably wont be able to have your neighborhood garage sale this year. After coming last year my wife and I had planned on making it an annual trip down to the cities to make a day out of it :(. Stay safe my friend!
You're right, we probably won't be able to hold the plant sale as planned. However, I do plan to let people come and buy plants in a contactless way. Haven't worked out the details yet, but stay tuned!
Hi rob! I need help im looking to grow 4 plants. Peppers,Tomatoes, eggplants and snap peas. I want to use ither soil or a hydroponic method in a 5 gallon bucket. What do you think would be a good light(s) for me? Any advice would be helpful thank you!
It's listed on the chart. The first reading is 15 inches directly below the light. The others are averages of several readings at the edges of a rectangular area: 1 foot x 1 foot, 2 feet x 2 feet, and 2 feet x 3 feet.
Thank you for this informative video! I used two more 100 watt pink LED grow lights for my 5-ft lime tree every winter. And while those lights appear to do a good job as the plant grew and flowered throughout the winter time, I am sick to death of having a pink dining room! 😳 I'm sure all the neighbors are thinking that I'm having a rave! I bought a 36 watt Sansi today, being unsure what wattage I need. Anyone keeping citrus trees under Sansi lights and what wattage did you use. Thanks in advance! 🌿🍋
Led lights are technically incoherent laser. They have all of the wave lengths of "white light". That lessens the ability to be straight line focused, in simple wording. Diode lasers are fascinating but gas lasers are my favorite.
Glad they got hip to this , I've had to use home made frankin versions for a while now , dollar store has tons of them . U do need to of course modify the situation , just a bit 🥶 . The ten dollar Wallyworld ones work well to . Stay free , ✌️
Is the 36 Watt light enough for a 1.5 x1.5 feet box? I planning to use it on growing tropical plants like bamboo or palm trees. On the sansi website it also says "dont use in enclosed fixtures", so is it safe to use inside a growing box?
I think they mean don't put the bulb in an enclosed lamp fixture, but I don't want to provide safety advice. 😀 I think you would be happier with the 60W or 70W SANSI light for this purpose.
I think the 36W might work, but would suggest a brighter light that has broader coverage. If you're in the U.S., I do see both the 60W and 70W listed on this page: amzn.to/3uynaQL
You'd think so, but not always. In this case, the total power rating of the LEDs is 100W, but the power supply is supplying less wattage than that. To know why, we'd have to talk to the engineers that designed the light.
While I really like the smaller variants as they have much more value than the standard grow lights you find on Amazon, I’m sceptic about the larger ones. The Spider Farmer SF1000 and SF2000 seem to be a better deal, considering the power consumption, dimming feature and infrared LEDs.
@@7PotClub I have a video suggestion, I like baking, so I would love to see a video of you baking some meringue cookies! Basically egg whites, and sugar, some salt, and that’s it! Really easy, here is a recipe you can try, and make a video on baking these! :))) www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwit5tWemvjoAhXQlHIEHZKCAQQQtwIIKDAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fbakingamoment.com%2Fmeringue-cookies%2F&usg=AOvVaw3cAmJYiOEuab9GcuK-tcYg
I brought the 36W bulb just a few weeks back, worked great for a week then broke, looking at the amazon comments seems to be a common problem, so seems you had some luck, I will avoid SANSI for my grow lamp next season.
Sorry you had a problem. Based on a 4.3 of 5 rating on Amazon, I'm not sure it's a common issue. My first 70W has been running continuously for 6 months now with no issues. And SANSI does have a 5 year replacement warranty.
Why didnt u measure the ppfd that's why I stopped using the sensi lights, they are best for seedlings but if u want a light for a true indoor garden the PPFD needs to be waaay higher like around 500 and up
There's a lot of hype around grow lights. I'm not recommending SANSI lights for growing bud or commercial produce. For the average hobbyist's growing seedlings and plants indoors, SANSI and other lower wattage lights are a good value and inexpensive to operate.
I want to grow with 1 or 2 Sensi 36W LED LAMPS in a small Minibox 100×50×50cm only for my own. Is ot possible to get relativ good Stuff from it? Can you hwlp me to find the right e27 LED Lamp with 36 W?Greets
Have you ever investigated dormgrow.com's grow lights? Also LED. Frighteningly efficient, but pricey? Not criticizing, just because I wonder about them.
No, I haven't checked those out. They are kind of overkill for me because I'm just growing hot pepper seedlings. I feel like a lot of lights are made specifically for people who are growing a certain crop that is not legal to grow here. 😉
Was this a sponsored/paid review? I’m just curious because there are much better LED brands out there, and was wondering why you only reviewed one brand and every single Model they had.
I was provided the lights for free, but I wasn't paid to do the review. I would have to pushback a little, though, because for what I do with lights, the price/performance/energy usage of SANSI lights is quite good. You don't need monster lights to grow hot pepper seedlings. Thanks for watching!
So where are all the figures for the real power consumption at the mains outlet? Low cost companies have the nasty habit to pump up their products to make them sell but real power consumption is way lower when measured. If assuming good leds with an average light yield of 100-110 Lumen per electrical watt then a good approximation of light yield can be made. Using that Lux meter in its LUX mode the instant luminary flux can be measured. Dividing that by 74 gives a good approximation of the PAR value. With the figures provided in that video there is not much left of that further away than the classical 12 inch distance lamp plants.
Free doesn't hurt, but these use a lot less electricity. Plus, I needed more lights because I grew a lot more plants for the 2020 season. All my old lights went to good homes to grow more plants!

@@7PotClub I am very impressed with their versatility and efficiency! Absolutely awesome lights, I'm so happy with them👍
Hi Rob, so in the end, what is the suitable value of FC to grow plant indoor?
I think you need an average of at least 150-200 FC. Plants can have more somedays and less other days (just like outdoors) but that would be the average over time. Of course, more is better.
i bought 2x Sansi LED 36 W, i hope its enough for some Weed Plants ?
I used the 24 watt on a white widow plant. The nugs looked great. And were very dense.
I've question, can I use any of lights to grow saffron indoor? I'm trying to research and do some experiments on saffron. Plz let me know, thanx..
I don't specifically know anything about growing crocuses, but these lights should work for any plants that can be grown indoors. Good luck!
Great review video keep the good work coming
YES!!!!!!!!! A NEW VIDEO!!! THANK YOU ROB!!!!! i have a video suggestion thoguh!!!

I just got 2 of the 36w and I like them already 👍
Hi Rob, Im sorry for all the questions. Do you think the 70 watts would do well in a grow tent?
I think it would do well, but in a grow tent I might go for the 100W.
Great review Rob, and you look pretty good, all dressed up ❤️🔥🌶

Any opinions on efficiency vs some of the cheap quantum boards on amazon. Spider Farmer etc....? Thanks
The quantum board models can put out more light but also consume more energy, so it's a trade-off. I think the SANSI lights are more efficient and possibly more reliable.

I don't see why not!

which one is the best for VEG and BLOOM ?
These are full spectrum lights, so they work for all phases of development.
Love the video! I was wondering if you could shed some light on how far away from the plants you place your sansi grow lights?
Thanks! I keep the lights about 18" away from the top of the plants.
Did they use your idea of how to get to the bridge?
No. And it wasn't a hit.
Wow, thank you! You’re my hero
Wow, thanks

Thanks for letting me know. I removed the code from the video description, as it has expired. I don't have an updated code at this time. Sorry!
From West Saint Paul was trying to find from late year now no need haha. Thanks
Timing is not great, I know. 😀
Great video as always, Rob! Just one thing, why your old nickname is coco?
Thanks Anthony! The story is in the pinned comment for this video.
I used them on my planted fish tank.
While I really like the smaller variants as they have much more value than the standard grow lights you find on Amazon, I’m sceptic about the larger ones. The Spider Farmer SF1000 and SF2000 seem to be a better deal, considering the power consumption, dimming feature and infrared LEDs.
I like VIPARSPECTRA for larger lights. However, for growing seedlings, the SANSI lights perform just as well with a fraction of the power consumption.
Can the 36w Flower/bloom/fruit a pepper plant?
Sure. It should be enough light to fully grow one plant to maturity.
@@7PotClub Ah great!
Hi coco (id like to hear the story)! thanks to you my peppers look so fantastic! love your chanel! Best wishes sending you from switzerland.
Thanks Ricardo! I just added the story and it's in the pinned comment on this video.

@@7PotClub I have a video suggestion, I like baking, so I would love to see a video of you baking some meringue cookies! Basically egg whites, and sugar, some salt, and that’s it! Really easy, here is a recipe you can try, and make a video on baking these! :)))

Sansi has since produced 100W dimmable grow light.
And a 200W. I reviewed it earlier this year: ruclips.net/video/PDtZgtkaFIc/видео.html
@@7PotClub they had a lower rating on Amazon UK, since I returned mine the 36W has been delisted from my Amazon, as I said, I loved it until it broke!
Peace out Rob

That's the SANSI 70W LED Grow light: amzn.to/3fxKo40f

If you have a Smartphone you already have a PAR meter. All you need is the App and you can use your phone as a light meter.
When I made this video over 4 years ago there was no smartphone app that accurately measured the entire PAR range. Which ones do that now?
@@7PotClub The app called Photone will replace a par meter. It’s surprisingly accurate.

Stylish suit! You must have had a Taylor. No way you bought that off the rack.
Thanks! It's a Hugo Boss suit off the rack. Minimal alterations.
@@7PotClub Yeah, but I use it for Tomatoes and peppers. It works well, but I wonder about the cost/benefit ratio vs. some of the simpler lights.
Why you're nickname is coco, Rob?
Cheers from France!
Cheers William! The story is in the pinned comment for this video.
@@7PotClub thanks you to taking time to respond, happy Easter!
Woooo
Was this a sponsored/paid review? I’m just curious because there are much better LED brands out there, and was wondering why you only reviewed one brand and every single
Model they had.
It was a great video, I was just curious.
I was provided the lights for free, but I wasn't paid to do the review. I would have to pushback a little, though, because for what I do with lights, the price/performance/energy usage of SANSI lights is quite good. You don't need monster lights to grow hot pepper seedlings. Thanks for watching!
I just saw you had paid promotion to the start of the video. Perfect! You’re the man
So where are all the figures for the real power consumption at the mains outlet? Low cost companies have the nasty habit to pump up their products to make them sell but real power consumption is way lower when measured. If assuming good leds with an average light yield of 100-110 Lumen per electrical watt then a good approximation of light yield can be made. Using that Lux meter in its LUX mode the instant luminary flux can be measured. Dividing that by 74 gives a good approximation of the PAR value. With the figures provided in that video there is not much left of that further away than the classical 12 inch distance lamp plants.
I guess you missed that I used a Kill-A-Watt meter to test the actual power consumption of each light. 😀
Why did you change lights? Because they were free! .. so why not? Hehe
Free doesn't hurt, but these use a lot less electricity. Plus, I needed more lights because I grew a lot more plants for the 2020 season. All my old lights went to good homes to grow more plants!
