I grabbed a maxsisun mf2000 after watching this. I love the thing. Great buy IMO, so much so that I actually ordered another one last night now that my girls have outgrown their current set up. Last time it arrived a day early and I had it installed in minutes. Hope this helps someone like me... slow, skeptical, suspicious, shopper who reads every review possible if Im spending more than about $100. Some details... my grow room is 4 ft x 4 ft. thank you so much for doing all this work .It was a great reveal . I would never have been able to side by side these numbers and yes , I was really surprised at how deceitful they can be . This is FANTASTIC! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I have been looking at grow lights for a while now and didn't know how to make sense of the specs. This is great. Thank you so much! Subscribed!!
This has been terrific, as well as the other vids of yours that I stumbled on today. You are my new favorite homegrowing YT instructor. A lot of the light measuring science goes over my head (I went to art school) but I'm glad I can consult your interpretation of the data.
I Did that once, Took a beautiful Lady Plant and closeted her With grow lights and in 7 days she became a male and sprouted thousands of balls. Sad her early budding went male, but neighbors said Nice Plant so she had to go.
😢That is so cool. When I was about 7 me and my mother moved into a house in Waterloo Ohio the upstairs had nothing but clothesline strung from one side of the room to the other three rooms up there I think. Over in the corners were these big bundles of what I thought was corn stalks like I said I'm like seven at the time. My mom was mid 50. Neither of us had any idea until my older brother showed up and we were burning this in a wood stove starting fires using it for kindling. You can walk outside and the whole town smelled like a pot party. Obviously somebody had got a big harvest outdoors that year and that's where they hung it and cured it. True story
My friend uses viparspectra and he produces some pretty big buds using the p1000 I don't care about all the fancy this and fancy that I want to see results viparspectra gives good results and a very good price.
This is a brilliant video mate. As a reviewer you’ve convinced me to request and thoroughly examine the integrating sphere report. Although I never use manufacturer claims in my reviews this video thoroughly highlights the flaws within the industry. Especially the honesty in the relationship between light manufacturers and buyers. I’m not sure why they inflate their results, its not fooling anyone. I try to rely solely on my own measurements but the results of an IST would be a great yardstick assuming you can trust the results provided. You’ve convinced me to demand these tests before review. Fantastic video. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm shopping around for a light right now and this couldn't have been more helpful. you just got yourself a new subscriber👍💪💪
I Yielded 286 grams from my 2nd plant,a sour kush auto flower on a spider farmer sf1000 (first plant yielded 140 grams) I have 2 of them sf1000sand a Mars hydro ts1000, have gotten almost a lbs from 2 plants and those lights so far. My 3rd plant is goin to be around that 280 gram yield again. Love em so far!
Does the Mars produce much more heat....any increase in yields with the Mars..? I was thinking about getting the sf1000, but I've seen a fair bit positive comparison for the Mars units. I'm considering the Mars unit. Thanks
What a very clear & informative review! Makes a complex subject accessible and huge doses of common sense thrown in - what more could you ask? Well done.
This video was very refreshing!!! I was sick and tired of all these growers giving these great reviews to lights just because the Chinese gave them a “free” light. Give a grower a free light and he will give raving reviews . This industry is so full of lies and deceptions it makes me want to go back to HPS .
Physicist out of UW Madison here. Also, a growing and testing enthusiast. One refinement to your data - PPF doesn't include sub 400nm or >700nm, so the more IR+UV diodes, the lower the PPF and PPE (as you've calculated), though IR contribute even more on an energy basis (requiring less energy per photon (E=hv/lambda)). So the "2.9" data may just include a wider wavelength range, as PPF is an inherently flawed, invalid measurement parameter if IR+UV are included. Said another way, a purely IR+UV grow light would have 0 PPF, but would 1 draw power and 2 contribute greatly to plant growth. Awesome video and great work overall, though! Update: For anyone optimizing a grow room to run as cheaply as possible, plant growth scales with number of photons, NOT wattage drawn from the wall. It takes nearly twice as much wattage to make a blue photon as a red photon, yet to a plant, they're both the same as far as photosynthesis[1]. Said another way, a light that puts out more red than blue could have a much lower efficiency but deliver much more usable energy to your plant (red photons carry about 1.8eV whereas blue are ~3.1eV).
Thanks for your input! The 2.9 PPE data does not include IR / UV. It was a fabrication. This video update talks more about the PAR range and PPF efficacy vs Photon Flux efficacy: ruclips.net/video/WmjOSzSF-HI/видео.html I'm not sure where you get the data showing blue photons require nearly twice as much wattage. This source cites 450nm blue diodes as having an efficacy of 3.5 umol/J while 660nm reds are 4.5 umol/J: _doi.org/10.1038/s41438-020-0283-7__._ Red diodes get a boost, but they're not twice as efficacious. When optimizing a grow room to run cheaply, a grower would get the most PAR photons per watt if they simply used Red Diodes. But such diodes are more costly to manufacture so the upfront cost would be higher. More importantly, plants won't grow properly under such a narrow, limited bandwidth. You need to account for photomorphogenesis. Thus, blue LEDs are needed to avoid undesirable morphologies. But the phosphor coated blue diodes also add green light into the spectrum which brings its own inherent advantages like improved canopy penetration. Either way, higher efficacy is still crucial. On a watt per watt basis, the higher the PPE, the more PAR photons being emitted which means more growth potential.
I think everyone of these lights are at least good and probably can't go wrong with any of them. However, the Maxsisun company has taken engineering, build quality and convenience to a new level. I've owned a few of these brands but honestly, the Maxsisun, especially the MF series, has taken grow lights to the next level. Once you open the box, take it out and examine it, you'll be sold. If this doesn't sell you, the test results are top notch. It just feels so solid and looks so clean like someone really took their time making these.
You earned a subscriber! way to call these companies out. Unfortunately I understand some of them need to exaggerate to not get put in the shadow. Your message was clear and direct nice job👍
Very interesting video as always. I have two mars hydro TS600 and I'm very satisfied with them, I tested them with my PAR meter and my Watt meter, and I compared them with my old COB 100W lamps bought on aliexpres. The result is interesting, for the same number of Watt consumed, the TS600 at the same distance give twice as much PPFD as the COB. I bought the COB 50$ and my Mars Hydro 77$, for the price, the Mars Hydro TS600 or Maxisun PB1000 are much more interesting. I just ordered two TS1000 that I will receive in a few days, because as you explain in your video, at the price efficiency level it's the best.
Thanks for sharing those details from your testing! Compared to older units, that TS600 does well. But many of these newer LEDs are doing even better. I hope you enjoy those TS1000s. They should be a nice upgrade!
@@Albopepper Thank you for your answer. When I bought the TS600, the price was really interesting compared to other brands. Today it's a bit different, Mars Hydro has increased its rates and the price difference between a TS600 and a Maxisun PB1000 is small. If today I had to choose a 100w lamp, and after watching your video, I would take the PB1000. I like the MarsHydro brand because they make quality with affordable prices. I bought a 150x150cm grow tent, I'm very satisfied with it, it's really good quality and you can feel that it will last for many years. On the other hand, there's one thing I don't understand about them, it's shipping costs on their website. I have a friend who lives in Asia, I advised him to buy Mars Hydro lamps, but when he looks at the shipping cost for a simple TS1000 lamp, the shipping is $100 (2 kg), while the 150x150cm (16 kg) tent would only cost him $90 (same shipping time for both). There's something really wrong with that.
Hey my friend I use for years the cob leds 200watt do you think a new light is worth the money? If this is true than maybe I only need a 100w Panel Ts000? Cost me in a year much less electricity bill
I'm totally in your hands. I just bought the Maxisun MF 1000, with remote and dimmer. On eBay well under $100.00. Thanks. Note regardless, I had bought a Fecida. Dimmable with fan. I hope I just upgraded.
hey man thanks this video is the best i learned much and got 2 nice 1500 ViparSpectra paid 130$ with the new diodes and the meanwell driver" i learned it by watching you'' that was 3 months ago i use them in my greenhouse along with ol'sol 18/6 that too
Ive been using a TS2000 for the past year and completely happy with it. I feel that being able to mount the drivers outside of the tent gives Mars Hydro a huge benifit. It makes temperature control much easier. Everytime i look at other brands not being able to put extentions on the driver cords is what turns me away.
Thank you ! I had learn what i was missing and begining to understand by myself. I will continue my learning process and found the perfect light for my buisness project !
Thank you for your clear, useful information. I’ve just started learning about grow lights and wondered whether it was just my fault that I was confused. It’s shocking that these companies are so deceptive. I feel more confident that armed with your information I will be able to make an intelligent choice.
I thought this was for reef tank lighting.. but I really like your in depth review about these lights. You have a good perspective! You should get a salt water tank and make videos for us all😂😂 choosing between reef tank lights is a big decision that costs anywhere from $500 to $15,000 just in lights! So having a good review like this about all the different lights would be next level!! Great video man!
I think this is all about just being terrified!! About spending a high amount of money saying they won’t supply me a sample, so he is only checking efficacy, par, like what is he getting at? I get it. But spend some cash don’t be scared get a 1000 watt true led once. I did and u will see results, don’t know about any of these lights he mentions with the scientific “fair” part of photons and all that but he said it!! Price! So if u want a really awesome led grow light spend and just don’t be afraid to spend money on one I have done this grow thing over 20 yrs I did my research of course u have to spend more than $100-$800 bucks bro don’t buy out of country lights either! u don’t need someone to say, o this one compared to this or these lights inflate data or lie you about par and all that. Spend money man you can’t compromise with price. The saying goes u get what you “pay” for don’t ask for a sample light and waste your time read on par, micromoules, per second first just read for your self u will find what works for you.
But he does know his stuff on lighting for sure the man is amazing with knowledge on a lot of brands don’t get me wrong. Not knocking him just saying don’t be afraid to spend on an led it just drives u half crazy trying to decide which is best but make the switch from halides and street lights u get way better results with led!👍

this guy is absolutely right about mars hydro help- they have very little customer support so it's always probably best to talk to them through amazon and buy through amazon
Another very enlightening video! I‘m still using a couple of Spider Farmers that you recommended a couple of years ago and I‘m very happy with them-2 SF2000‘s...I think. All these numbers make my eyes sort of water over and it can get confusing. I just want the damn plants to grow and I don‘t want to break the bank to get there, so I really appreciate that you have done the hard work for us. How will I know when it‘s time to get new lights? I grow two seasons per year with lights on for 12-18 hrs/day, and I think I‘ve gone 4 seasons with these lights. Thank you!
You mean PPFD reports, right? They provided light maps with spot readings? Those are certainly quite helpful. PPF reports from an Integrating Sphere are different though. They are not for positioning data. The total PPF is for total output at a given wattage irrespective of light distance.
I used a 400 watt HPS till recently after our son bought me a 400 watt Seagrond 8800P led board. I noticed that my plants responded straight away. I believe this is a mid range light but it is an improvement from my HPS. The advertised PPE is 2.2, however I am not sure about the accuracy of this claim.
Very interesting, probably will sadly still stick to sunlight because of electricity cost but considering the sky is constantly cloudy or raining where i'm from for some reason i might consider it
Luckily electricity isn't that expensive here in Finland, only $0,105 nighttime and $0,125 daytime / kWh (including transfer fees and tax). And during the (loooong 🥶😂) winter the only loss is that the heat isn't generated by more efficient geothermal heat pump.
i was looking for a video that shows all this info really appreciate.! got me heads up was reaaly trying to figure out the diffrences now i know what iam getting thankyou.!this video going to help 100s more
very in depth and helpful us less literate in the ways of grow lights. I have a TS600 just because it came with my 2x2x5 tent and filter/fan, which was the best price I could find for all of the above by a mile. Interesting to see how it compares to competitors!
Seeing the listings, and the variances in efficacy and dishonest inflation of numbers, I feel like the marketers are too far removed from the engineers. I think most of these lights are good and good for the money, and depending on their unique features can hold down their specific market positions. it is unfortunate that the marketers play games, because engineers and gardeners care about material results, not market speculation and profit.
Yes, there definitely seems to be a disconnect. Sometimes the marketers & engineers directly communicate. But if company policy focuses on marketing above facts, then the engineers get muted and fake numbers get pushed. Not cool!
Thanks, great info. You are always one we can trust. I just purchased a Bloomspec 600, and it blows my 2 other led's out of the water (more light per watt by a factor of 2). To my mind, the Bloomspec 600 is a great budget light. I am growing leafy greens and tiny tomatoes.
Very good information in this video! Thanks! I got 3 SF-1000 and I've been using them for a little more than a year. They work great so far. I also like the dimmer knob they added on recent models.
For consideration. I have 3x maxxisun pb2000. I run more small lights instead of a single large one cause I can set light at different angles, I can also split them up if I have different grow rooms.. great video, appreciate your thorough review 👍
got a viparspectra p2000 for less than a spider farmer 1000, $183.00 with shipping and tax. and covers a 2 x 4 tent. i got both the vb1500 and the p2000 and love them both!.

Awesome buddy thank you i have the SF4000 and a SF1000 in a 5x5 going to flip to flower Thursday my first indoor ever was under the SF4000 in the 5x5 i added the SF1000 this second run will keep you all updated love your videos thank you
I'm a little confused is the spider farm 1000 good please help I am new to this and I really don't understand
How did it go ?
This is honestly the best and most hard-worked review I've seen.
I plan on using 2 maxsisunmf2000 for 6 medicinal plants. The heat stays within ideal range with the light on. This guys video is very helpful for understanding the info you want to understand when new to purchasing led grow lights. Good Luck!!!
Is 1 mf2000 good for a 2x2 tent or is it too much
thank you so much for doing all this work .It was a great reveal . I would never have been able to side by side these numbers and yes , I was really surprised at how deceitful they can be . Not surprisingly was that the manufacturer you stated was more transparent and honest in their information is put down a lot amongst growers (Growmies ) go figure !!
This just popped up in my feed and I’m damn sure I checked it out. Professional, informative and clearly you’ve got major integrity.
Thank you Aldo! You do a superb job of testing and reviewing. Have a great weekend!
Thanks Ke! I appreciate your positive feedback. I hope you have a great weekend as well! :D
This is FANTASTIC! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I have been looking at grow lights for a while now and didn't know how to make sense of the specs. This is great. Thank you so much! Subscribed!!
Dude! Thank you for paying such attention to detail and going out of your way to contact these companies. Excellent video
This has been terrific, as well as the other vids of yours that I stumbled on today. You are my new favorite homegrowing YT instructor. A lot of the light measuring science goes over my head (I went to art school) but I'm glad I can consult your interpretation of the data.
I remember moving into a trailer as a child n finding a closet covered in foil with a regular light 💡 oh how the times change 😂😂😂
True story
😂
My friend uses viparspectra and he produces some pretty big buds using the p1000 I don't care about all the fancy this and fancy that I want to see results viparspectra gives good results and a very good price.
I agree I also like the dimmer switch option it's very important to me to be able to adjust the lights
Thank you.
Thanks! I'm glad this info is able to shine some light on a major problem in the industry. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm shopping around for a light right now and this couldn't have been more helpful. you just got yourself a new subscriber👍💪💪
nice, thanks maxisun. ill be choosing you guys. honesty goes a very long way.
I agree! Thanks for watching. :-D
Just bought a TS 1000 and I found one used for 90 bucks on Amazon. Thanks for this video.
I wish I would have seen this before I made my purchase, really well done.
The Only Legitimate Review on the internet. Well Done ✔
So glad to hear it Nick! Thanks for sharing those numbers. I'm sure it can benefit other growers who are looking for similar results!!!
Great videos!
@@Albopepper ::: Any test results done on quality? I wonder about the “vitamin” content of LED, vs. HID?
Really knocked out the park imo this video should find all who are in the market for the first time...
Thanks for watching mathew! I'm glad the info can help out. :)
nice video i replaced my spider farmers sf1000 with new mars hydro ts1000 they now have goodwell and dimmers amazing lights
This industry is so full of lies and deceptions it makes me want to go back to HPS .
don't give up mang 🤺
This video update talks more about the PAR range and PPF efficacy vs Photon Flux efficacy: ruclips.net/video/WmjOSzSF-HI/видео.html
I'm not sure where you get the data showing blue photons require nearly twice as much wattage.
Great review!
Nice to see you here, lmao
lmao lekker kweken op de zolder
I think everyone of these lights are at least good and probably can't go wrong with any of them. However, the Maxsisun company has taken engineering, build quality and convenience to a new level. I've owned a few of these brands but honestly, the Maxsisun, especially the MF series, has taken grow lights to the next level. Once you open the box, take it out and examine it, you'll be sold. If this doesn't sell you, the test results are top notch. It just feels so solid and looks so clean like someone really took their time making these.
I love the ts1000 I own one and a cheap philzon 600. Once I upgraded my light I saw a dramatic difference in my plants I only paid 135 for my ts1000
Nice! That's a great value. :)
What size grow space are you running that in?
We need more people like you, Thank you so much
Amazing knowledge here for a home grower! Thank you SO much!!!
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! :)
This is by far the best video i have seen on this topic!
Thanks, I'm glad it is able to help out! 🙂
Leading the pack in objective reviewing of these grow lights . Thx
You earned a subscriber! way to call these companies out. Unfortunately I understand some of them need to exaggerate to not get put in the shadow. Your message was clear and direct nice job👍
Very good job explaining and making it easy to understand. The best I’ve found on RUclips for sure. Thank you!
man I loved this video, super informative, honest and fun to watch ! you've won a sub today
I absolutely love my bloom plus BP 1500 for a 150w light.
Absolutely kills my 2x2x4 small tent.
Great information & discussion.
Good to know! Thanks for watching. :-D
I think you have just beaten a record: a Frenchman has understood your entire video without missing a beat!
Beautiful day to you 🙌🏼
Very interesting video as always.
I decided on the MASISUN PB 1000 even before I saw this video. Will be ordering that very soon. Thank you. Judi
Oooooh finally new video from my "go to light guy". Make more videos please.
Ps. Thank you for reading 'small letters' and bringing us the light. 😉
LOL! Good one. ;-) Thanks for watching!
@@Albopepper thanks bro. glad u liked it. My poetry is better day by day. 🥃🚬🥃🚬 😉
I'm totally in your hands. I just bought the Maxisun MF 1000, with remote and dimmer. On eBay well under $100.00. Thanks. Note regardless, I had bought a Fecida. Dimmable with fan. I hope I just upgraded.
They just dropped the 2000 to $130 on Amazon sign me up
Just got my 2nd ts1000 today 4 plants per household july1st in Virginia
I can't wait for July 1st.
I'm right there with you brother. I cant wait
FYI The plants only count in flower you can start now.
I can't wait. I'm setting up my room now and getting some brush up since it's been years since I cultivated plants
hey man thanks this video is the best i learned much and got 2 nice 1500 ViparSpectra paid 130$ with the new diodes and the meanwell driver" i learned it by watching you'' that was 3 months ago i use them in my greenhouse along with ol'sol 18/6 that too
I got the maxisun 4000pb. Good light Im happy with it!
Good yields?
Thank you this is the best information on leds I’ve come across very helpful
Ive been using a TS2000 for the past year and completely happy with it. I feel that being able to mount the drivers outside of the tent gives Mars Hydro a huge benifit. It makes temperature control much easier. Everytime i look at other brands not being able to put extentions on the driver cords is what turns me away.
ts1000 I use its good no problems but go add a spider 1000 I think
Thank you ! I had learn what i was missing and begining to understand by myself. I will continue my learning process and found the perfect light for my buisness project !
Thanks for keeping them honest
Best video for people just getting into growing no lie .. I'm glad you made this and are doing the test .
I have 2 MarsHydro ts1000 and im growing 12 huge plants in a 4x8. Its not optimal for my space but its a great beginner light.
I'm starting a crop, so you recommend the Mars hydro TS 1000 ??
I'm growing 3 autos in a 70x 70x 160 with a Ts1000 and I have fat buds coming
best comparison of leds ive seen so far good work well done thanks
Thanks for your kind words! :D
Awesome freaking video. I very much appreciate the information and for tell the whole truth and not what the marketing department would have you say. It's nice to be able to trust someone who doesn't try to sell bull crap to us. You have earned a subscriber for life and I promise to keep coming back for more and sharing your video's with as many people as I possibly can.
👊😎👍
this guy is absolutely right about mars hydro help- they have very little customer support so it's always probably best to talk to them through amazon and buy through amazon
Indeed! Amazon transactions will ensure the best buyer protection!
Thank you!
Impeccable service you are providing. Thank you. Well put together information that was very helpful in my endeavor.
finally, some honesty.
Thanks for watching! :-)
I’m using vivosun VS2000 in a 36x18x60 for 4 years now and i have great results combin with gaia green product !! 🔥
Vipars have ppf reports when you buy them. I used it to set up my distance.
You mean PPFD reports, right? They provided light maps with spot readings? Those are certainly quite helpful. PPF reports from an Integrating Sphere are different though. They are not for positioning data. The total PPF is for total output at a given wattage irrespective of light distance.
@@Albopepper Have you made any headway with the P1000? I have 3 of them and would love to see some additional data.
Very interesting, probably will sadly still stick to sunlight because of electricity cost but considering the sky is constantly cloudy or raining where i'm from for some reason i might consider it
I agree! Free photons from the sun is always preferred. :) You can't get more sustainable than that!
Luckily electricity isn't that expensive here in Finland, only $0,105 nighttime and $0,125 daytime / kWh (including transfer fees and tax).
And during the (loooong 🥶😂) winter the only loss is that the heat isn't generated by more efficient geothermal heat pump.
Thank you. Really appreciated the scientific and mathematical approach you took. I wish there was more of us out there! Cheers
i have missed seeing your videos. you make great energy efficiency led lighting videos
I'm glad to be able to help out! I hope we can keep the industry moving in the right direction. :)
Fabulous review. All relevant characteristics included. Bravo!
i was looking for a video that shows all this info really appreciate.! got me heads up was reaaly trying to figure out the diffrences now i know what iam getting thankyou.!this video going to help 100s more
I'm glad I could help! Thanks for watching. :D
very in depth and helpful us less literate in the ways of grow lights. I have a TS600 just because it came with my 2x2x5 tent and filter/fan, which was the best price I could find for all of the above by a mile. Interesting to see how it compares to competitors!
With that size tent is only one light needed ?
Seeing the listings, and the variances in efficacy and dishonest inflation of numbers, I feel like the marketers are too far removed from the engineers. I think most of these lights are good and good for the money, and depending on their unique features can hold down their specific market positions. it is unfortunate that the marketers play games, because engineers and gardeners care about material results, not market speculation and profit.
Yes, there definitely seems to be a disconnect. Sometimes the marketers & engineers directly communicate. But if company policy focuses on marketing above facts, then the engineers get muted and fake numbers get pushed. Not cool!
Love your videos and how comprehensive they are. Keep it up!!
Thanks for your kind words and for sharing your personal recommendations!
Great work! Super thorough, easy to digest, and a sweet mustache as well!
that is too cool I really appreciate that thank you and God bless you! Question what about the Creed cost Creed lights the 50watts to 100watt?
got a viparspectra p2000 for less than a spider farmer 1000, $183.00 with shipping and tax. and covers a 2 x 4 tent. i got both the vb1500 and the p2000 and love them both!.
Dont need me to tell you but what a great channel man! Im here from the cannipepper shouts and some real reviews paid or not thankyou!!!!!
Thanks! I really appreciate your support!!! :-D
appreciate the analysis of brands I've been seeing lately, this is relevant and useful :)
I'm glad it was able to help out! Thanks for watching. :-D
THIS is some QUALITY content! I love how in-depth you went with this!
I'm glad you like it! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Excellent video, thank you very much. Everything i needed in a single video. Subbed!
