  • War 96(Charlie) me and the squad used a Train to transport the tanks we prepped. It was very aesthetically cool taking the train but we would have gotten there faster if we just drove there. Also driving around with the expensive train is quite scary as you are hoping not to loose it and ALL the vehicles you are transporting.

    I also kept thinking time wise how long it takes to set up the tracks. They seem only worth it for large resource hauling I think. Frontline transport would only work if we could build tunnels and such through difficult terrain, otherwise it's just a road with extra steps. Would be cool if they added some wrecked train tunnels in rough terrain maps that you had to clear out to use.

      Wrecked train tracks even. I mean we have roads which you can use basically from the get go, why not railway tracks ? As far as I know you don't have access to the vehicles from the start anyways, so you would only be able to use them later regardless.

    The thing I see Trains doing is supplying an entire front, needing only 3 or 4 trains to forward supplies from the rear cities to the forward cities for the entire map, which would be distribution points for logi trucks throughout the front.

    I think they're more for transporting crates of vehicles to mid or frontline seaports and depots instead of individual tanks

    • @BrodatheMaster
      @BrodatheMaster  Год назад +39

      That's certainly the more efficient way of using the trains. But they were also said to be able to unload pre-prepared tanks to go straight into battle. However doing it this way is probably only more time efficient with the REALLY slow tanks(not light tanks like we did).

      They are not using any fuel while on the Train and you can take more then you can crew to gift away. So those are some benefits.
      I guess it would help time wise a lot when the track builder isn't drunk and plans ahead. Straight rail lines are usually a bit more efficient then snaking around the map.

    I think what makes the trip so slow is the ridiculous amount curves and zigzags in that track. With an efficient route, this would beat any other form of logi.

  • @Moosemoose1
    @Moosemoose1 Год назад +5

    This is a totally inefficient way of transporting tanks. You can transport far more tanks to the front by shipping MPF crates of tanks to Frontline logi depots and pulling them out from THERE. A 10-bed train can transport 30 crated tanks that can be safely stored until needed as opposed to only 10 individual tanks that will just end up parked at some bob and stolen. You can even include a container of 40/68mm ammunition as well and if the front needs it they can pull from a Frontline depot.
    Don't fully fuel n arm tanks and just send them to the front hoping someone will use them, be smart and send them via crates for true efficiency

    • @BrodatheMaster
      @BrodatheMaster  Год назад +2

      Certainly what we did was not efficient(never claimed to be), but we wanted to use the trains for moving prepped armor to the front(like the devs said you can) and see what it's like. Which we decided was a waste of time since we transported light tanks which could have gotten to our destination faster if we just drove there.

  • @notleviathan855
    @notleviathan855 Год назад +8

    Trains are awesome for mid like support. My regiment was dedicated to supplying other regiment who was focused on fighting.
    Smaller logistics teams picked up supply from the depot drop off point after we unloaded it from the train, and then had a transport car back to the train depot to help load in more supply.
    My front never had a supply issue, and we had other regiments even try to come 'borrow' supplies from us simply because we had so much of it going to the front.
    I stopped playing because it got so stressful being the conductor. I had so many arguments with other regiment leaders. Like you're welcome to build railways on top of ours, I dont mind. But dont expect us to add on more supply while were also supplying three regiments in a constant battle 24/7.

  • @niconilo97
    @niconilo97 Год назад +9

    Humm i’m thinking .. maybe a good way to use train is to transport ready to fight vehicules from front to front and make like a train that can go all the way north to south to make quick reposition of large forces trough tho whole front, but in the end isn’t it just more worth it to build tank and put them in stand by on all fronts .. idk

    • @BrodatheMaster
      @BrodatheMaster  Год назад +4

      Yeah, using trains to reposition SLOW tanks is best use for trains. Though it's not as useful for MOST other tanks since you can reposition AT LEAST a hex away before you get the train prepped and loaded with the tank(s). And considering it is really hard to NOT loose ANY armor when you are fighting on an active front it makes it basically impossible to reposition tanks that were in combat(unless you are lucky enough to have a garage nearby to repair armor) since the armor on vehicles NEEDS to be fully repaired before they can be packaged. Lastly I would agree with your assessment that it would probably be more worth it to build tanks and keep them on stand by on all fronts because of the time and cost increase using a train would entail.

    There is a lot of comments here stating that this is an "inefficient" way of transport because you can just use MPF crated tanks. To hell with efficiency, if there is some public armor in depot i will transport that to the closest front depot because it looks cool. I soloed trains (made it solo too) and while it took a lot of time i had my fun.
