UPDATE: This is the second upload of this video. If you happened to save the first one and wondered why it was removed: ruclips.net/video/ICeFRXJHkAw/видео.html A very bad thing happened today... for some reason, RUclips dubbed over my latest video with a horrible AI-generated voice, and they can't seem to fix it, so I had to reupload it. Of course, this means I will lose all of the views the original video had accumulated. 😢 So, please enjoy this non-messed-up version. And if you decide to watch it a couple of times, that certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings. 😉 Thanks for your understanding!
Yes, I had watched the original video and had to search for this one when I came back to watch it. What a terrible thing RUclips did to you! I'm so sorry. Please keep producing the videos. I'm a relatively new woodworker (a minister, age 67), and I find your videos helpful. Many thanks.
I came back just to add a few more views to the count, and re-add it to my library of “future reference” videos. But I figured I’d also comment to try to boost this in the algorithm. Thanks for the quality content and genius ideas! They’ll be used in my shop for sure! Keep ‘em coming!
Man this is so rad, it’s so much easier to store! Really genius. I am so glad you re-uploaded this one, it’s a great video. The “going bottomless” editing was funny 😄
Watched this when it first came out. Then saw the one about auto dubbing so I'm watching it again. Keep up the good work. My shop is currently getting packed up for a move but I will be building one of these after I get set up again. And yes, I'm a subscriber.
I'm so glad I saw the thumb nail for this video! The bottom's dropped out there in your shop! You are a keen & clever fellow! You have a good humourous wit & I liked the trip to Paris too! I am a new subscriber today! Bottom's up!
I will have to say this is the most original idea for a cross cut sled. I just might make one myself. Well done Lee. And I hope you continue to make content.
Wow, this is such a great idea for a sled! I made a large one and as you said, the downfall for me is the cut depth that's lost. Great work on this, I really do hope the video will take off for you again 😁
I am happy that you got video fixed and reposted. Hang in there you will get your subs. I haven’t watched in a while due to my health and no better way to get back to watching a few videos than one of yours at 3:30am on a Saturday morning. Really like this idea a lot. I recently got a vevor mother gauge and for 55 bucks, this was accurate right out of the box. I think I’m going to give this a try, as I need a crosscut sled since I’ve started a room by room home remodel. Our home and land is finally paid for, so let the fun begin. You were right, this is probably your best yet, and there will be better to come.
I wondered if anyone would ever do a video for this kind of sled. I've done a very simple version but the extra details for the 45° option and stop block make this one a perfect version. Thanks
Fantastic video! Your instruction was quick and straight to the point - but with a modicum of entertainment blended in, and quite expertly I might add. You convinced me that your miter gauge design is superior to all those super-expensive miter gauges (made of red, black, or blue) that tell us they are the best thing since sliced bread. Well, you topped them all, my friend! Way to go! (And here I thought you were just a goofball several years ago when I viewed your videos for the first time). I was wrong. You are NOT a goofball, you are very professional, very experienced, and an excellent educator - with a bit of fun entertainment thrown in for good measure. And hats off to your editor! Nice work! I’m a subscriber!
this is a great idea! honestly i'm glad of the cock up with the first video, i never would've watched it if Worst Workshop hadnt called it out and i was nosey about what happened. now a new subscriber :)
Just came to say I've been watching woodworking videos on RUclips for a few years and this re-upload was the first video I have seen from your channel and it was so well done that I felt compelled to like AND subscribe. Hope you can pick yourself up, brush off the sawdust, and keep putting out some excellent content. Don't let the bastards grind you down.
I’ve watched hundreds of hours of RUclips to streamline and improve my work. This is the best idea I’ve seen for my table saw. You did it once; you’ll do it again. You’re way too talented and entertaining to quit.
I must have watched the original video before it went bad. I'm still a subscriber it says. I've enjoyed your other videos and I especially liked this one. I understand why you'd be frustrated and hopefully for all of us, tomorrow (or tomorrow further down the road) will be a better day. You're entertaining and very informative. I've often had the same idea you had concerning using the miter gauge to make a sled, but not smart enough to figure it out. I'm glad you re-posted this, because I plan to watch it again when I'm ready to do this for my saw. Thank you.
Sir, this is the best item I have ever seen to add functionality to my Sawstop! It is efficient, reliable, flexible in use, and truly minimalistic in design. I thank you for your excellent insight and craftsmanship. I have liked and am extremely pleased to subscribe to your channel. I look forward to viewing ALL your past videos and will wait patiently for your next brilliant idea. Cheers!
This is the first time RUclips suggested your channel to me and I am so glad it did. Really love this idea and especially how you presented it. Very glad you re-uploaded it.
Look, don't give up. You're a great channel with humourus content. A real regular guy that's got better ideas than most. I gotta go rewatch this video a couple times.... No really, and where did you find that "fence style t-track", I need one of those. Really.
Missed the first upload, count me as new watcher on this video, but would have definitely watched it twice, not only to support you, but 'cause of this masterpiece of work: You are really funny and you did a profound job, having this idea, and how to realize it and how you presented it. Never think of quitting!
Currently planning some builds for my small shop and small Dewalt portable tablesaw. This is an awesome idea, and I just happen to have an accurate Inca miter guage and the one that came with my saw. Looking forward to building this. Awesome idea, and thanks. Instant sub. 👍👌
This approach looks a lot easier and cooler than all those large, heavy sleds. Using two miter gauges at once is a badass style 🤘🏽 I would like to see Busted Knuckles' approach to building a sliding table saw 🤓
Great idea. I think I'm willing to accept the few limitations of this to get rid of my regular sled since storing that is nearly impossible in my garage
I played this video again from start to finish after your play count was tragically wiped out. Great video too, BTW. I always watch the videos you publish. In fact, I'm going to the Big Blue store this week to buy electrical channel and hardware to build a caul just like the one you showed in one of your recent videos
Great idea, I've never made a crosscut sled because it seemed like a waste of materials and have used the miter saw that came with my saw to do what you did. It seems to work.
Re-watched and re-watched again and again to hopefully help a little from my neck of the woods. Stay put, hold fast, and keep the content coming. You're channel is pretty unique and your delivery is outstanding. Keep Building!
Clicked on the "NEW TO YOU" link in the top bar and this came up. As if I don't have enough projects already to do, now I have to build one of my own. Great video by the way. 👍
Why would RUclips do that? I didn't even know that was a thing. Seems pretty crappy to me. Great video, though... I love the concept. Fairly new to woodworking (about 2 years now, but working a full-time job doesn't leave much extra time, so haven't been making the progress I want), so videos like this are great. I tried my hand at a crosscut sled, and after a few attempts at squaring the back fence, I gave up. This is a great alternative. Only downside is the cost of the 2 mitre gauges that are needed, but they are removable... Thanks for the video
“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing else to add, but when there is nothing left to take away”. Instead of following that advice, RUclips kept adding things you never asked for while taking away all your video’s views. This is my third time watching. So very sorry this happened to you.
I'm sorry to hear anytime a large company can't help a small company as I run a small company (not on youtube) and I really hate it when I have issues that larger companies get preferential treatment resolving and therefore don't have the same issue as someone who is working to make their small company grow. You are allowed to be upset, take some time to yourself and then come back and post some more as there are still people watching RUclips that are rooting for you. It might not be 80k views yet, but you can see that there are people supporting you. 41k so far.... I'm rooting for the number to grow again. Edit:141,000 and growing!!!!😄
The reason for beefy fences is it needs to stay true after cutting kerfs in it. Not much through wood in this fence. Having a floor on a sled with fresh kerf allows pretty accurate cutting to a fine mark.
Great point. The thru wood is very important , it’s the ONLY structural member keeping this thing together. My solution would be to make the fence higher which would add stock to thru wood plus allow room for a steel angle to add support and stiffness. After all that maybe a thinner sled board would be better. Cause when this thing is NOT on table it is vulnerable to damage very easily.
@@adgieem1 the top T-track could add stiffness. not as rigid as steel, though. OR,you could use an aluminum extrusion, the kind with slots for bolts on all 4 sides. like 20x80mm. (2080)
I teach woodworking in a Montessori school, and have to build multiples of the jigs and tools that the students use for their projects. This solution for table saw sled construction is especially useful when you have to store 3 or 4 sleds in a small space.
So Lee, how are we doing? I see 118 K views. I know you'll never get the original 80K back, but judging from the comments, a whole lot of viewers are watching at least once, many twice. I sincerely hope we've shown you the support you need to keep going. We love ya man!
Just found your channel, love it! Fantastic video's. I'm an avid average wood worker and not wood working surgeon. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, It will be passed on from father to son for years to come.
This is brilliant! I've been putting off making my sled for a number of reasons, size and storage being near the top. (Looking for my round tuit also.). I'm starting this today! And, thanks for calling out the KM stop. That's the first thing I bought in preparation for my sled.
UPDATE: Here, I recount the sad and sordid tale of how my most successful video to date went from 80,000 views in 16 hours to ZERO in less than a minute. 😭 How RUclips auto-dubbing KILLED my biggest video ever ruclips.net/video/ICeFRXJHkAw/видео.html A HEARTBREAKING thing happened today... for some reason, RUclips dubbed over my latest video with a horrible AI-generated voice, and they can't seem to fix it, so I had to reupload it. Saw the video about your heartbreak with RUclips’s robot voice. Had to subscribe as a new woodworker. Had to comment and hit LiKE to help a guy out! Can’t wait to watch your other clips. PS love the table saw sled hack!
I’m going to make this and I’m sure I’m going to need to watch this video several times in order to get it right! 😉. Thank you for the awesome videos.!!
Just subscribed sir! This idea is brilliant. Another great thinker I know of said “If you are not having to add things back in to make a project work, then you are not removing enough to begin with.” Who would have thunk it, a sled with no bottom.
Been watching your videos from the beginning. So happy to see how much your channel has grown. Great ideas and videos with lots of humor. Much deserved success!
Hi Lee, I just went back and watched it again start to finish just so you wouldn't lose the previous view I had on day one. As with anything I might actually build I tend to watch more than once.
Nice idea to save a lot of space. One concern I have is: how "stable" your miter fence will be? On the sled with bottom, you can be sure the fence does not move. But here, the fence may move. Especially since both parts are just hold by a few centimeters of plywood. Have you instead thought to make this from aluminium? Also, I would not hang it on the wall as you did because it may from a bow over time. Instead, lay it flat. If you do not make it too long it may even fit into some decent drawer.
Been reluctant to make a sled because I have always thought it’s too heavy to move around and require a dedicated space for storage. Now I know what to make next!
This video is right up there with the miter saw fence video, such great ideas. Fun to get to know your love of France in this one. I haven’t made a crosscut sled because I can’t decide which version I should start with… because it’s this one! I just need something to start, and you and this idea is exactly what I needed. 👏
While I completely understand your frustration but I really hope you don’t stop your videos! I enjoy your take on things and would be bummed if you quit. Take some time to feel your feelings and then lift your head and get back to work! 💪🏽
It sucks what happened, But you'll recover looks like you are already recovering! This is one of those idea's that everyone is saying why didn't I think of that! I just made this jig and love it! File for a Patten. See you at WBC!
Alas, I have the old Ryobi BT3000 table saw with no grooves. It has a sliding table with a miter guide. Still, adapting your "sled" to that gauge with a board clamped to that miter guide would allow supporting a piece on both sides of the cut, with the T-track bringing some stiffness.
Great video. I watched the first upload and the video about how RUclips messed up. I also purchased the items used in the video. Best of luck. I hope that you continue your RUclips journey. I watch every video that you post.
I subscribed after watching only one of your long form videos. You have a great style to your videos and you are very funny. Thank you for your videos and I hope to see many more in the future.
Hi Lee. I watched the original (which was fine BTW without any dubbing issues). Watching this version in the hope it helps you in some small.way. Keep the great uploads coming!!
Watching again to help with the views. Sharing too. Really love this idea....please keep this video up! This is truly one of the best ideas I have seen in a long time.
I often thought that's sledges for your table saw was a bit crazy because of like you said losing some of the blade cut what do you have come up with is bloody genius just can't work out why no one else has ever thought of this before
I'm watching again to support. Your first upload gained my sub as it helped me find your channel. I really hope you keep making content as your content is produced to a high-quality
One advantage of a base that I like is the ability to use hold down clamps which adds some safety to the cuts. If you could somehow incorporate something like toggle clamps on the fence then this would be an added bonus
Hi, thanks for the video and the great idea! I just checked the miter gauge that came with my table saw, it will work perfectly with the new bought (better) miter gauge to form your table sled! For really small parts I think I will add an optional (removable) half bottom (like 15cm wide) to the underside of the fence.
Another great video. Just wish you didn't have the issue with the original. Adding some runtime on my end and I've added it to my list of projects to try.
Hope you don’t quit. Love the content. Guess I was one of the earlier ones that didn’t get the female robot voice. I’ve rewatch, liked, and shared with myself. Can’t believe that some unsubscribed!!! Looking forward to RUclips’s resolve. Stay strong and I’ll be in the lookout for the notification bell of a new video!
I've never built a table saw sled for several of the reasons you mentioned. I never liked the idea of losing maximum height of the blade even though I never really need to extend it all the way up anyway, and I always hated the thought of all that bulk. I love your design and will definitely try to do this. I can finally put some T track to use that I bought about five years ago. 🤣
I watched the explanation video and came here to see what this video was about. This is a great idea. My current sled is a pain to store. You have a new sub from me sir.
Lee, I always enjoy your vids and appreciate the “outside the box” thinking as well as your humor. Sorry to hear about the loss of your video but please keep going and take heart that there are many in this digital wasteland that don’t need to get all mean and nasty when things aren’t going their way (what’s with people anyway!)
I enjoyed this video the first time (before RUclips's mangling). I watched it again to help out and I am going to share it. As to the content, I was cursing because I just got my Katz-Moses sled kit a couple weeks ago.

I’m going to make this and I’m sure I’m going to need to watch this video several times in order to get it right! 😉. Thank you for the awesome videos.!!
I saw the original and I'm now watching again. Keep it up
Just subscribed sir! This idea is brilliant. Another great thinker I know of said “If you are not having to add things back in to make a project work, then you are not removing enough to begin with.” Who would have thunk it, a sled with no bottom.
Great engineering. Well done.
Been watching your videos from the beginning. So happy to see how much your channel has grown. Great ideas and videos with lots of humor. Much deserved success!
This video was worth watching again for the humor and solid tips. This time it stuck and I'll probably build this. Thanks!
Hi Lee, I just went back and watched it again start to finish just so you wouldn't lose the previous view I had on day one. As with anything I might actually build I tend to watch more than once.
I think this is a fantastic idea! I already have one v27, and now I have an excuse to get another . Well done!
Well done Lee, and keep up the engineering of usable shop jigs and fixtures!
Been reluctant to make a sled because I have always thought it’s too heavy to move around and require a dedicated space for storage. Now I know what to make next!
Merci, Lee. Glad you decided to redo the video. The sled is simply magnifique.
Oui, oui, c’est bon!
I love watching you think outside the box. Keep sharing your ideas! It’s how everyone gets better
Thanks!
You didn’t have to, but you did, and I thank you (sung to the tune of ZZ Top)
This video is right up there with the miter saw fence video, such great ideas. Fun to get to know your love of France in this one.
I haven’t made a crosscut sled because I can’t decide which version I should start with… because it’s this one! I just need something to start, and you and this idea is exactly what I needed. 👏
Thanks!
@@fancytableshoes appreciate you sir 🫡
While I completely understand your frustration but I really hope you don’t stop your videos! I enjoy your take on things and would be bummed if you quit. Take some time to feel your feelings and then lift your head and get back to work! 💪🏽
Hey Busted Knuckle. Am watching this again, love the content. Keep up the great work.
It sucks what happened, But you'll recover looks like you are already recovering! This is one of those idea's that everyone is saying why didn't I think of that! I just made this jig and love it! File for a Patten. See you at WBC!
Great video, sorry about the issues with first video. I watched it again along with a few others I missed. Stick with it!
French watcher here: thanks for the clever thinking and the good laughs! J'adore
Merci d'avoir regardé ma vidéo!
Very well done, Sir. You earned my subscription easily. I look forward to whatever you come up with.
Great video. I watched the first upload and the video about how RUclips messed up. I also purchased the items used in the video. Best of luck. I hope that you continue your RUclips journey. I watch every video that you post.
Lee, you create great content for our enjoyment, are a great thinker, and teacher.
I subscribed after watching only one of your long form videos. You have a great style to your videos and you are very funny. Thank you for your videos and I hope to see many more in the future.
Back for the encore. Loved it just as much as the first time. Already looking for the Incra V27.
Hi Lee. I watched the original (which was fine BTW without any dubbing issues).
Watching this version in the hope it helps you in some small.way.
Keep the great uploads coming!!
Rewatching the new (old) video. Its just as great as before!
Watching again to help with the views. Sharing too. Really love this idea....please keep this video up! This is truly one of the best ideas I have seen in a long time.
What a nice thingy-majiggy. I think I’ll try to build this myself (some day).
For really small parts I think I will add an optional (removable) half bottom (like 15cm wide) to the underside of the fence.
that's a great idea
I must have watched the original, but I’m happily rewatching this one. Sorry you got hosed. Your work is appreciated.
I watched the explanation video and came here to see what this video was about. This is a great idea. My current sled is a pain to store. You have a new sub from me sir.
Dont give up Lee - watching and commenting again for support
Watched your video for a second time just to make sure my viewing got counted. Great idea. I like your videos. Please continue!!
This is genius. Your practical and creative ideas are appreciated!
Congrats on the channel and I’m sorry to hear about the dubbing problem.
I enjoyed this video the first time (before RUclips's mangling). I watched it again to help out and I am going to share it. As to the content, I was cursing because I just got my Katz-Moses sled kit a couple weeks ago.
