When I was 10 in 1963 I had 2 uncles who were were hunters, deer and pig. My brothers were encouraged to go but had no interest in hunting but I did and wanted to learn unfortunately girls were not welcome in that world. It is a man's world and I had no idea that I could never keep up with it but I have a great appreciation of what it takes to be a hunter. I really enjoy your videos and how tough real kiwi men really are. Personally I think every young man in NZ should live in your world for at least a year as a rite of manhood because I think we are all too removed from the real world. I get a great deal of enjoyment out of your irreverent outlook on life while sitting in my nice warm house :)
Good times in hindsight, not much fun at the time. Still, life's made for living and you can't complain about the company. Thanks for reposting this, one day we'll take another trip.
Well how good is this kiwi's out in the bush, feel homesick, time to get home. Beautiful & natural way to get down & dirty. I can imagine the kaimoana you will find & show it to me. I can see eel /trout cooking, sizzling in the pan - thanks for sharing
I experienced a couple of your weather systems when I visited in 04. Got proper rained on for about three days on the Abel Tasman, took me another three days to dry out! Camping in those conditions is no fun unless you're properly equipped, I wish I had your dry gear then!
Tying a few drip lines on the hammock suspension can help stop the water getting to the hammock. Better if there's some rings or buckles to interrupt the stream of water (close to the hammock so they're under the tarp coverage). I had one wet night in my hammock and made a point of trying to avoid another one.
Who are the 18 upper class snobs la de das plum eaters who gave you a thumbs down?? Love watching yr vids on here or tv keep up the fantastic work bro you rock
If you make one of those hammock chairs line the nylon seat with some emergency blanket and it will keep the breeze of your back make it even more bearable.
your the man bro and a laugh lol i would love to learn from you. your bushcraft and hunting. that storm looked crazy. but shows you know what your doing to survive lol. you've inspired me to hit the outdoors and take a camera with me. even tho my back yard is wellington city lol and when i can ill make sure to get me some of your merch
Josh James Kiwi Bushman Adventure VLOGS i have had some windy nights out in the Bush both in Sweden, Alaska and NZ but i think this Night tops it mate. Good nothing really bad happened✊✊ and that the beer didnt get lost mate😇😂✊
That was fantastic to watch mate! Thoroughly enjoyed watching it and reminiscing of a similar experience I had in Fiordland. Just wondering what camera you used to shoot that footage with given the wet weather?
The real deal. I've been in a few storms like this and its impossible to convey everything on camera. Its that oh shit moment when the fly finally collapses onto your face and you know the rest of the night is going to be wet and miserable that gets me.
So tell how did he get the nickname Weka does he hoard things ? or does he stealth off with the lads food & gear ? i just lost a new pair of bloody good socks took one then stealthed back & got other .
We use recycled cooking oil in our helicopters and recycled raft guides in our boats, everytime we shoot a deer we save a tree, and we give the DOC thousands of dollars every year in fees, although we dont use any of their facilities, cheer
Cheers mate. It's these adventures that I have the fondest memories of, they make for great stories and build resilience and character. Give it heaps mate
