Those door handles are on my 2017 NX. It's nothing to do with electronics but rather Lexus' safety nannystate. It provides an extra layer of security for kids.
The last time i saw you as taken with a car you were reviewing the Volvo V90 cross country & your regard for it was the final piece i needed in my jigsaw of decision making & i bought one . Thankfully I've been fortunate to have a very good outcome and I'm now cancer free. Keep the head up Bob, just take it day by day

Cars are being designed and marketed to the lowest common denominator when it comes to people's IQ!!!! I'm all for safety but for God's sake, at least some of us have a brain and are quite capable of operating a car without bings, bongs and doors that won't open without further input. No matter how good a car that is, I'd soon return it as it would do my head in. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Bob. I love your no nonsense direct reviews as you give us the comments on cars that manufacturers wouldn't want to us know. Yes car prices are outrageous now and I'm hanging onto my 12 year car as long as it keeps going as I'm not paying the daylight robbery prices for a new or used car.

Bugger! I have lived with the big C for 20 years. The medicos are really getting their act together and they are having a good success rate in treatment. All the best Bob.
FYI, as far as I know, they switched to electronic door handles so the safety systems can detect bikes/pedestrians etc and prevent the door from opening if it would cause an accident.
