Replacing Patio Door Handle

Replacing the handle for sliding patio door… ours broke after 15 years of daily use. It fell off. So nothing really is permanent in this world. Even steel or aluminum/aluminium gets brittle and breaks. Doing it first time does come with a few surprises.

How do you measure for the new handle and lock?

The easiest is to bring the old one to, say HD, and they can find it for you or you can look it up yourself. I measured the screw hole distance from each other and that’s the measurement displayed online, like 3 15/16”..
