    Thanks for this great review guys! I've been watching your channel for the past 3 years now and you guys have NEVER let me down with any of my whisky purchases. 👍😁 I was able to find a bottle of HP 30 for $700 yesterday and bought it without hesitation.😅 I normally read and watch reviews before I buy. I'm so reassured to hear that you guys greatly approve of this whisky! I can't wait to open this beauty! Cheers to you and many more great reviews. 🥃👍

      @@dustinsilvestri7497 It's not just the ridiculous prices, It's also the fact that LCBO only purchases entry level whisky (blends, 12 yr old scotch. most popular entry level bourbon/irish) so when it comes to the desirable nice bottles they have the worst selection of anyone

    Hi, can you help me out please? Would you prefer the official bottlings of HP 25 or 30, or some indipendent bottlings of similar age statment? Im thinking of buying one or the other, tried one 21 yo of douglas laing xop range and was simply amazing, but then again i love the 18 yo official old bottling so im kinda stuck in between, since you tried alot of them what would you suggest?

    • @topshelfwhisky
      @topshelfwhisky  3 года назад

      Well I haven’t tried the DL21 but that would be my suggestion. My thinking is this... IB of Highland Park that I have tried with age statements over 20 years have all been excellent to my palate. I prefer higher abv (18 year is 43%) and I would imagine the DL would be over 46% if not cask strength. Also the standard 18 year is normally available around me so you can always go back to it.
      Just my thoughts, good luck!

      @@MrBrrrki my mistake... well that’s a close call. I also have the Cadenhead HP 26 as well, both amazing whiskies. Forced to make a choice, 30OB > 28IB > 26IB > 25OB if we are talking 45.7% on the official bottles. I have an HP 25 that is 48.1% which is quite a sort up and I have a cask strength official bottling of the 25 year from 2004 who’s is 50.7% those higher abv official bottles are my favorite.

      I was wondering! lol. Both are such special whiskeys. I normally say the 21 is the best example of the distillery but if you’re gonna force me to make a choice, I’ll go with the 30 year.
      The 25 is a lot of first Sherry and definitely a sweeter whisky. The 30 is all second fill.
