Have you opened it yet? Don't wait too long, none of us know how much time we are given. Why not try it if you are not trying to sell it for profit. I have one arriving soon and will probably open it as soon as I have a nice relaxed evening at home.
Ye he makes it look like drinking whisky is delicious as can be, till you actually taste it and that strong punch of alcohol hits u in the mouth and u forget that there's actually different flavor's and aromas.
Hey Horst, what do you think would happen if each cask were store as normal, in a warehouse, but instead, a machine/robot flipped the cask in all directions multiple times per day and perhaps maybe even gentle shook the cask? Do you think this would make. The whisky mature more rapidly? I would love to hear your opinion. Thanks!!!
Love these videos...thanks very much Horst. If I can ask, i have a question. Would it be considered bad etiquette to pour such a whiskey over ice? I enjoy my scotch the rocks, but would it be a no no to pour the expensive stuff that way?
From what I am told and what I have read adding a drop or two of water is scientific and has to do with a chemical reaction and nothing to do with what alcohol content the Scotch has. Apparently when you add a drop of water, and they do mean a drop or two, like from an eye dropper, it breaks the surface tension of the whisky and causes a chemical reaction between the two which brings the aromas out of it better than just spinning it in a glass because it causes some kind of warming effect or something. I know very little about it, it is just what I have read and heard.
Just bought a bottle of this 2007(48,1%) version for christmas. Was a little bit more expensive than ”300-400 euros, dollars, pounds what ever” but can’t wait to try out those red juicy oranges. Nice to find this older version still on the shelves of government alcholol monopoly at lower than market price.
Interesting that he holds 30 year old in such high regard against the 25. I have tried both several times and everytime liked the 25 more. Don't get me wrong, they are extremely good whiskies. Very similar in caracter, but in my opinion the 30 has just a bit too much of the cask taking over. And the fact that it is lower in abv makes it more obvious. So for me 18 is great, 21 is even better, and 25 is the best. 30 is second best. Interestingly I recently had a chance to try 30 year old from 1973 and was expecting to get blown away as everybody always claims the old ones were better...guess what? New 30 year old is better. Had a chance to try 40 year old also, but must admit I did not like the price so never tried it. Remember this is just my point of view, what do I know, I'm just an amateur. Still my opinion though.
Time flies and palate changes as you train and expose it to new experiences: I now think the 30 year old is fantastic. I love the 25, but the 30 is just as good, maybe better. It is just different, more demanding, and unfortunately more expensive.
Horst doesn’t answer questions on his RUclips channel anymore. However I’d say that it’s entirely down to your budget, both are fantastic however the 30 yr is noticeably better but much more expensive...
When Horst finishes the glass you know shit gets serious
love your expression when you taste the good stuff. Your expression speaks louder than words! Now if I can afford this...
Just want to commend you guys on the quality of the audio. You can hear so much detail, it’s very enjoyable. Cheers 🥃
I have the same bottle but I’ve not opened it yet. Just waiting for some special reason.

You forgot to say "where fine spirits meet." The intro threw me off. Great review.
Very interesting! Thanks for reviewing that!
I'm not legally old enough to drink, but watching you do it is just so satisfying 😂

You just have to look past that alcohol ;)
Hope now you are legal to drink this whisky :)
Would like to try this one however here in the UK you cannot find this bottle for less than £700-£800 which is beyond justification unfortunately.
Oh my goodness! 700£?? Get 3 or 4 bottles of Glendronach 21 Parliament instead! 😉
In Finland it's currently 1320€...
Love your reviews
Once in a while Horst gets a little spellbound! I probably would be with a 30 year age statement too...

Any plans for the rest of that bottle, Herr Luening?
Horst looking like a kid at Christmas!
I love your reviews Horst! I am debating between HP 25 or 30. If you could have only one, which would it be?
