    The video is really solid. I appreciate that you built whole system and review it. I don't know why there are so many reviewer talk so much without building a system with the case.

      Some cases you can easily guess the outcome without building by just looking at them, but yeah, can't call that a review :D

    I am now totally in love with this case! Having used "COOLER MASTER" products (power supplies and cases) I think they do quite a good job. Their products simply run, run, run (for years)- And thanks for the review. It is really a high quality review.

    I wanted this over the NR400 because I wanted something with a steel side panel. Coolermaster should make an NR400 with a closed off panel as well.

  • @tr14d36

    actually i dont understand the problem with 67 degrees under load with a proper cooler - if you want to get more out of your processor than lets say word and chrome you should always invest in a proper cooling solution. Seems like the case can take even a high end system with proper cooling as there is much headroom

    • @dakrisis
      @dakrisis 7 месяцев назад

      They're also perpetuating the myth that higher temperatures reduces lifespan. CPU's and GPU's have an operating temperature, just like engines. 67 degrees on an unreasonable load is perfectly fine. 80 degrees on Candy Crush is not. If you try to run a CPU lower than it's operating temperature, that's perfectly fine also, but you don't get any extra performance as a normal user. It's like changing the stock air intake on your car for an aftermarket one. Sure, it sounds better but do you really notice that 5 extra bhp, if at all?

  • @michaelwhitaker1972
    @michaelwhitaker1972 4 года назад +4

    I don't really see the issue with this case. Anyone building a new system will most likely purchase a better cooling solution and all you would have to do is remove the optical drive bay and put 2 140mm fans in the front. Do that and it will perform just fine. This will most likely be my next case because of the minimalist clean look. I'm not in to all the glass and RGB bling.

  • @JeanB-br9nw

    I removed the exhaustfan and placed it in the front, airflow increased and temperatures dropped dramatically (ryzen 3600 + 5700xt reference). It s not that bad at all.

    Great video, I bought one because the NR400 wasn't available where I live. I have a Ryzen 2600 as well with the Deepcool Gammaxx GT and an extra fan in the front and it is absolutely fine in terms of temperatures. This case looks great and is well built

    Yup, I think you sold me on the NR. The S400 isn't much quieter and the NR, with the mesh front, gives you great airflow, but also gives a bit of bling to the front if you have the fans. Can't lose either way...
    Thanks for the video! Sub'd.

      @@TechTesters - Ya know, I do like the door on this as opposed to the NR. I'll be using an optical and I think I prefer the S400 for it. Can close it, a little cleaner, but not the same option for front fan bling. Tough call! All the best.

    I think you applied the CPU paste wrong. It's inconceivable to have significantly higher temps in this case compared to the other one when both are open.

  • @geenx8
    @geenx8 5 лет назад +2

    You can never get the perfect balance between silence and thermal cooling. Good thing many graphic cards nowadays turn off the fans on idle, and some power supplies do that too.

    • @leoo67899
      @leoo67899 5 лет назад

      imo best setup/case, all sides mesh, every spot populated with fans except bottom of the gpu, without dust filters. And all fans set to 700-1000rpm negative pressure. Air will find way in due lower pressure in the case trough bottom of the case, so gpu get fresh air. voila, silent and cool. I have been doing that for 6m with air 240 works great.

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  5 лет назад +1

      That's right, so it's important to figure out what's good for you. But like you say: even non-silence focus cases are quiet these days due to fans that stop or just more efficient components. Makes 'dampened' cases more niche imho.

    • @Candisa
      @Candisa 4 года назад +2

      Negative pressure with lots of slow fans is the way it's been done for decades, but it's definitely a dust magnet that way.
      Luckily fans have become quieter and more efficient at static pressure, so pulling the fresh air through fine mesh and pushing it towards where you need it has become an equally great alternative for silent cooling while keeping the dust out better.
      Unfortunately, and while I praise the great work many RUclipsrs and websites do nowadays, the trend of focussing on stock thermals in reviews causes manufacturers to compromise between airflow potential and included fans.
      I would like to see case manufacturers focus on the case itself, not include any fans (reducing the price or allowing them to invest in f.e. airflow guidance tunnels), and just give system-builders and reviewers a guideline of where to add fans to get the intended cooling performance. Many enthusiasts throw out the stock fans anyways.

    Maybe attaching 2x 140 mm noctua case fans in front intake, 2x 140 mm noctua case fans on top as exhaust, and 1x 120 mm noctua case fans at the back as exhaust would help the thermals.

    @8:00 Cooler Master is one of the top brands (and one of my favorites). I have used their products over the years and they served me well without a hiccup. So they are quite an experienced company and have many good engineers. Now I do not understand your point simply because C.M. engineers must have thought something during the design and what is more they must have tested the prototype(s) before the mass production. So there is no way this so called major problem be a "real" problem. I am pretty sure C.M. have an official response to that. Have you ever contacted and asked them about this so called "unexpected behaviour" ?

    Is this hot because of the case design or the default fan speed and placement? That is, is the problem solved by replacing fans? I'm trying to get my head around why this has a design similar to the Fractal Define Mini C but that case supposedly has good thermals and this one has bad thermals.

    Reviews like this seriously annoy me. The case comes with the ability to mount all kinds of fans. If it isn't cooling, it's because you didn't use those features. It comes with two 120mm fans. If you are going to run hotter components, add two or three 140mm front fans and make and it a fridge. Add two top exhaust fans if needed. This isn't a review of the case, is a review of your inability to use the case's features.
