Exactly why I went cave diving one single time with the most experienced divers just to see what it was like. Two days later, two cave divers in the same cave I was in, died.
There’s a big difference between exploring and mapping new terrain and tremendous depths and following the line and doing a normal cave dive.
Normal cave diving at reasonable depths is really not all that dangerous if you follow protocol and progress through beginner systems conservatively before.
Most cave diver deaths fall in one of two categories:
(1) A real pro who is pushing limits (like in this video we are all commenting on)
(2) A novice who doesn’t follow protocol and dives in caves they need more experience to dive.
The only thing in the bottom of a cave is dead divers. There is absolutely no reason to be down there.
Got that right!
For real!! Go deep into the earth underwater turn around and go back up to risk dying in a horrible way. No thanks I’m good.
This is very dangerous and I would never do it.
Extremelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it's almost suicidal
@mikegreen5502 What he did was suicidal. He loved to set those records. However, just casual cave diving isn't dangerous if you know what you are doing, map out the cave (if possible) and do everything correctly.
What a terrifying scary way to die.
My condolences to his loved ones. If there is any consolation it’s that he died doing what he loved. He was a brave adventurer and explorer and I sincerely hope he broke the record.
How sad😢RIP & PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY
Very sad, this guy literally died doing what he loved doing, but it doesn't keep it from being a loss all the same. I definitely will be looking for DIVE TALK (on youtube) to cover this story, I wouldn't be surprised if Gus and Woody knew this man. Or at least know someone who did. RIP Brett, but congrats on your record.
People need to stay out of the depths of the ocean
Exactly! I loved the ocean and I lived next to the Gulf of Mexico growing up but NEVER considered going far into the depths Or in a cave because of the very high risk; my Dad was a Navy vet and very wise, wouldn't let us go too far!
Saw him on Old World Florida, here on RUclips... He was a cool dude!!
You have to survive the dive to get the record. A lot of divers have been found at way deeper depths but that’s because after they died their body floats down to the bottom of wherever they are. That’s why it’s not a record unless you swim out of the cave on your own.
Many prayers go out to his family and friends.
you should just call or send a card, prayers are a waist of time.
You dont sound like the expert on prayer. @@user-jv8ht9wg9r
Very sad; people like him is so knowledgable, so useful, vital pieces of a puzzle on search, rescue and recovery. Sleep well my friend 🙏
Maybe it's just me but some thing about caves that I just don't trust.
May he rest in peace. God bless him 🙏🏻.
So sorry for your lose.
Rest easy, LEGEND.
He died doing what he loved to do not everyone else can say that ❤so sorry for your family loss but he was in his element
RIP
Rest in Peace Brother. We will miss you.
RIP buddy
Rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
He died what he love doing ... But its still sad 😔
He loved suffocating?
@@purplesprigsDo some research on Brett Hemphill.
@@purplesprigsIt’s like mountain climbers who die “doing what they love”
I always think…they loved plummeting to their death?
I get why ppl say it tho.
Sad
RIP 🙏
😢
He seen things in his life, that most of us will only ever see in a video.
That's fine I'll get my popcorn
Caves are gorgeous!
Nice, but I can’t see putting myself in a situation where one’s ALWAYS running out of air, with no way to the surface but the long way in. Then to go down 570’ ? Just seems like a death wish. You’re right tho, he’s seen things few of us will ever see firsthand. R.I.P.
The underwater aliens got him when he kncocked on their door
My deepest condolances.
Was here an autopsy done before declaring cause of death I'm just curious how that works?
If it's kinda obvious & not suspicious, the family can choose to not do an autopsy. My husband passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident & they gave me the choice to do one or not so I assume that's how it will go here.
Yeah but with him disappearing soo quickly leaves them with questions what went wrong. I’m sure they want to rule out there wasn’t any health issues going on.
@@hayleymariemillsSorry to hear about your husband that’s sad
So sad, sprayers sent for family & friends.
So the cause was him losing his way and running out of air? Ugh that's awful!
There’s issues with breathing gas at that depth. Nitrogen narcosis and oxygen toxicity for example. One can just check out mentally or pass out, then it’s over. I hope it was that and not him getting lost and running out of air which would be horrible, yes.
I thought they did not dive to recover when this happens..
If God wanted us to dive and explore under water, he'd a give us gills. Sorry to hear about the old boy.
That is a very silly thing to write. It’s like saying if God wanted us to fly, he’d give us wings. God…or billions of years of evolution, gave us brains, which have developed to create. With those brains we have developed tools that allow us to fly, dive, race and go into space.
Just mentioning god at all makes him a little bit silly.
@@j.y.3604 If we followed those thoughts, that you follow, we would never have developed the Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA), the submarine, the airplane, the spacecraft…
LOL, all these 'prayers' and 'god bless him's'.
🚔. Don’t wait for me. ✝️🤱
Sky divin is safer...god bless brother
Horrible communication and teamwork. They’re both to blame.
One guy’s fixing a line, he doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head. He turns around and he’s gone. What would you have done? He probably passed out and just drifted off in a matter of seconds. They were at 570’ which is ridiculous. Yes, they’re both at fault….for ever going down there in the first place. Suicidal
He is very comprised to have a lost a friend.
We are humans who live on the surface. We are not designed for water or caves.
A unnecessary death caused by yourself
Who are you talking to? Because it looks like you're talking to the dead diver named Brett. Pssssst... he can't hear you, he's dead bruh. People die all the time in accidents doing mundane things. At least he died doing something he was passionate about. I'd much rather die doing that which I love doing, than in a traffic collision while commuting, or from falling down a long flight of stairs.
Why boo hoo its his fault lol
Darwinism
He knew the risks. Next story
Next Story is have some morals
@@palerider6099 I thnk you mean compassion?
So edgy! 🙄
Yeah but maybe it was health related or something he wasn’t aware of. I understand he knew the risks but jeezzz you don’t have to be disrespectful..I’m sure his fam/kids are reading the comments
You even know who was him or how much he has contributed to the research and mapping? You would be ashamed to say such things if you would have known that.
RIP
