About The Game: God of War III is an action-adventure hack and slash video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). Released for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) console on March 16, 2010, the game is the fifth installment in the God of War series, the seventh chronologically, and the sequel to 2007's God of War II. Loosely based on Greek mythology, the game is set in ancient Greece with vengeance as its central motif. The player controls the protagonist and former God of War Kratos, after his betrayal at the hands of his father Zeus, King of the Olympian Gods. Its not weird that he's stopping to read honestly. He's solved puzzles made by God's for years. He's not stupid his anger may make you think that and Lazer focus on revenge but he's definitely intelligent. Still beautiful in 2018 nothing I don't like about it and the remaster is cool but It's crazy it didn't really need it.
If you ask me God of War: Ascension deserved a Remaster over God of War III. For being the “Black sheep” of the series it would’ve benefited from.

@@CodyKing45 I hear more and more people talk about Ascension in a more positive light now than they did back in 2013, now that we have God of War (2018). It’s honestly a shame it never got a PS4 remaster like III did as it could’ve taken the opportunity to improve the game’s performance, maybe tweak the combat a bit and maybe leave out the Multiplayer. I see remasters of PS3 games leave out Multiplayer quite a lot, plus I don’t see many people talk about it a whole lot compared to the single player portion of Ascension

Replaying the remastered version on my PS5 in 2021 and I can honestly say that this game is still as AMAZING as it was 11 years ago. Hands down, one of the best game's of all time. It's incredible what they were able to do with the PS3, because some of the levels are so epic, it's hard to believe that the PS3 was able to run it.

Being the first HD God of War is really astonishing. And it’s definitely my favorite God of War game and one of my favorite PS3 games.

I was playing GOW as a child and the gore was whatever (though I don't actually recall getting towards the end of 3). I'm 26 and the stuff around 17:25 absolutely unnerved me. The fact you *can't* see the damage being dealt really shakes you to the core. Now to watch it 5 times over because I hate myself

@@UruseiYatsuraFans I'm assuming you're speaking of the og voice actor for Kratos. Well the reason why he couldn't voice Kratos for the recent game was because he wasn't physically tall enough. Kratos in the games is over 6ft tall and his old voice actor is a little over 5'6 i think. On top of that, you'd have to pay both voice actors and do the thousands of lines that come with doing a game of this caliber.

This was the game I played after I broke my arm, I had barely enough hand and thumb mobility to awkwardly grip the controller and man the left joystick with my messed up arm. Game is real special for me because it was the thing I could turn to when I couldnt do any of my normal hobbies.

So Kratos has become hope itself. SO what do you think he's gonna do now? Try to kill Madoka since; A she's a goddess technically and B is also hope itself? Or is he going to kill all the Blue Lanterns so he can gain ALL hope? Those two sound like something he'd do.

This is Kratos we're talking about. He kills gods for a living, and he doesn't stay dead, even when he kills himself.
That said, Homura could probably give him a run for his money with her ZA WARUDO and her Matrix-level arsenal. It'd be interesting to see how that goes down.
The ending is in no way a selfless choice from Kratos and fits his character perfectly. He, in his final moment, decided to do the last "Fuck you" to a god. Athena wanted that power, but Kratos didn't give it to her
Remember the first game when Kratos was like “Kill a God?! How am I going to do that?!” And now Kratos is killing Gods like they’re just regular people. It stopped being a challenge pretty quickly
Really great episode, Jirard. It's always a really great feeling when a trilogy of games gets wrapped up on the show, so this was super cool.
The thing I love so much about Kratos is he's one of the very few characters who goes from being an Anti-Hero from Gow Ascension to Gow 2 to an Fullout Villain in Gow 3. Whether if Gow 4 and later games prove that Kratos can be redeem even in the slightest is yet to be seen. Like other big bads such as Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z and Light Yagami from Death Note and Lelouch Vi Brittannia from Code Geass Kratos is one of those characters who we all love to hate.

TC Carson the original voice of Kratos portrays the main character as the arrogant, vengeful spartan warrior we all know and love. He's a man who seeks vengeance against the gods of olympus who have refused to free him of the nightmares that haunt him even though part of that is on Kratos himself. Feel free to disagree with me but despite how he's often viewed by most fans Kratos was actually a pretty chill guy for the most part from Gow Ascension to Gow 2. He does care for others, and his spartan comrades but it's not until Gow 3 when we see that Kratos has gone too far with his vengeance when he literally wipes out all of Greece to extinction. Let's be real though if you had to go through all of the fucked up stuff Kratos had to go through anyone would lose their shit completely. None the less TC Carson was a good choice for the main character. He showed a lot of rage and even had some of the most memorable quotes in the original trilogy. The only improvement i have to make on his performance is his line delivery. Kratos doesn't need to shout everytime to show that he's angry.
Christopher Judge on the other hand portrays Kratos as a much calmer and more compassionate individual who not only cares for his son but also the lives of others. Now he's just a elderly man who's finally accepted his past failures and seeks atonement for all the death and destruction he's caused. He knows that he's become a monster and after 100 years of anger management he's finally learned how to keep his emotions under control and start his path down the road of redemption while only using his rage when antagonized or threatened. Not only that but also because we see it in Gow 4 when Kratos teaches his son that anger can be used as a weapon if you can control it. Emplying that he doesn't want Atreus to follow in the same foot steps as his father. Overall Christopher Judge was the perfect replacement pick for TC Carson and the only advice i would say on his performance is more memorable quotes since all he mostly says is BOi

The much hated reboot of Devil May Cry doesn't get enough credit. The remake of the reboot has the standard game, all DLC story missions, the Bloody Palace challenge mode, eight different difficulty levels, and a Hardcore mode that further augments these. Concept art is unlocked through the modes and rankings, along with skins. It is a damn fun game and I think it should get more love.

The OG trilogy made Kratos to somewhat sympathetic antihero, to raging selfish brute who is willing to exact his revenge even if it will destroy the world. Then the ending tried to make Kratos seem like a good guy by literally giving hope to the world. Even though he's the one who literally destroyed the world without any remorse

9:29 so I looked something up on google and turns out that Spartans actually were taught to read and write but for some reason they were forbidden to keep records so they didn’t really use those skills that much. So I guess kratos can technically read. And also the timing with the dialogue and the action at 11:03 was hilarious.

that final zeus scene where you mash circle in, I spent a full 10 minutes on, with the screen covered in blood, because I didn't know you had to stop mashing the circle button after a certain point

Glad the large scale factor of the series hasn't changed in the new God of War at all despite the camera angle changing. The world serpent in the new game is an absolute unit, it's mind blowing honestly.
I LOVE the God of War Trilogy, hands down one of the most iconic and satisfying journeys to follow a protagonist on! I was IMMENSELY addicted and into the games. I loved the combo system, the weapons, skills/spells & the upgrades for them, I LOVED the executions which just made combat an even greater treat (especially with the tougher/bigger enemies) and I LOVE LOVE LOVED the setting & themes with the Greek Mythology. It was just one damn perfect sandwich to dive into. I was so addicted & into the game that I 100% all 3 games, all the challenges, hardest difficulty completed on all 3 and unlocked all the extras and rewards and it felt EXTREMELY satisfying. Now, I love me some action/beat em-ups such as Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Darksiders and such, but the way God of War was put together, overall remains my favorite for the sheer passion and grandiose presentation of it all.

No. There is a specific line in the Bible (I don't remember which one) where God says that he will go out an humiliate the Egyptian Gods.
I took on Chaos mode on the ps3 when It released. After many months and deaths, I finally made it to fighting Zeus inside Gaia so essentially the legit final part of the game. Could never pass it due to Zeus clones and lightning punches. So it taunted me forever that I couldn’t truly complete the game. A few months later, my house got robbed including my ps3 and all my video games so I never did conquer Chaos mode:(

A secret cutscene I've seen Jirard say isn't worth the effort. So I wonder what WOULD be worth the effort. For a game like Kingdom Hearts, for example. The story is so large and complicated that it makes sense to have a hidden expositional cutscene.

The first time I put God of War into my PS4 Pro, I didn't stop playing until 6.5-7hrs later. I saw the sun starting to come out and I knew I had to stop for the night/day. I've never played a newly released game for that long of a time since Skyrim. GoW is sooooo good

I just had to leave this story I had with this game because it was just so memorable.
So I have been a huge fan of this game since day one and played and beat all of them at the time until this one came out. I never played it when it first came out in 2010 because I didn't have a PS3 but one of my friends did and had this game. I didn't find out until later on and i was at his house one night so i decided to finally play it. I played and finished the entire story of this game ALL IN THAT ONE NIGHT.
Definitely one of the proudest moments of my teen years.

I'd say that's incredibly fucking stupid, and it is, but the vast amount of changes to the new game are what differentiate it from being just another god of war. it's a new chapter of Kratos' world where everything is different. so it's not another standard god of war. it's a continuation of the story, but a deviation from the past. besides showing age and maturity, the beard has exactly dick to do with it.

good video i really like god of war of series cuz the hard dificculties of the game i always play the hardest becuase its feels so good the killing quick time events and if i choose to be a god i like to choose be the god of shadows its good to chilling out on an big shadow
I really am not looking forward for the new God of War. I mean, it doesn't even look like a God of War game, it looks like a completely different IP with a main character that has Kratos' body paint.

Me neither. I think the Norse Mythology idea is brilliant, don't get me wrong. But I feel like the major changes to the core of the gameplay will start to negatively affect the game once it's actually in people's hands and the hype has died down.
i wouldn't be surprised if it isn't titled god of war at all because of the deviations from the previous games. it's a new story with a new play style so im thinking it will also have a new name.p personally I think it looks absolutely amazing because I actually got sick of the gameplay in the previous titles. it was fun but repetitive as hell.i love the way they are taking the series. it's better than what halo did. when the trilogy is done, move on change things up, and separate from the original story. halo just keeps plodding along doing nothing to separate the newer games from the original trilogy. it might as well have not been called a trilogy.
August West There are ways to vary up the game play between sequels without making a game that has almost no relation to the previous titles. I can't say anything about the Halo games, but look at something like Devil May Cry. All the games (even the absolute trash second game and the bog standard reboot) have the same basic game play formula and carry over concepts that exist in every game, but they do things like add more options for the player, make new characters, or add more combat mechanics that have depth so that they keep things fresh.
Battler not judging Ushiromiya But at least DmC still looked and played like a pretty meh spectacle fighter. This looks like The Last of Us with more melee combat.

The probem is that it looks they will sacrifice the identity of the series, to be some Uncharted/Last of Us wannabe.

It's like some great hack and slash game being dumbed down it's gameplay and try to be more story focused and end up being terrible.
For me, if they keep it the way it is, God of War 4 might be a great bomb.

You should get someone else to tell the jokes, while you can tell the story, gameplay and other aspects great, you are NOT good at delivering the jokes.

Sometimes his jokes make me laugh out loud, and other times they get no reaction out of me at all. He's not terrible at jokes, but his writing's a little weak at times.
That Vin Deasel joke was bloody terrible. Jirard is a great reviewer and like his FFVII videos showed, a great writer, but in terms of jokes and comedy, he is fucking atrocious.

Lazarou101 I'm sorry, how is staying true to the spirit of a series the same as making the same thing? Because it isn't. All I want is a game that allows me to play as a brutal angry god. God of War 4 looks like it's going to be "feels the game" with out any real reason to give a shit about the characters. Yeah, what a great game that's going to be... wait I'm forgetting something. I forgot to put the word "not" in that last sentence.

Kratos is now played by Christopher Judge, so I'd say him going up against the Egyptian gods would be a case of been-there-done-that. ;)
