Genuinely one of the most terrified I have ever been in any horror game was walking back to the ship and suddenly hearing an old bird wake up, then turning around to see hell on earth as it flies towards me. That was the fastest I have ever pulled the ship lever in my life
It is really good sound design tho. Babies crying are super disturbing as we have a natural instinct to want to protect them. The thing is luring you to it.
@@Sa-vs7xz Also they are raising the psychological terror. We panic as we hear babies crying, I feel the dread from the sounds. I'm pretty sure it's like Stuka siren, playing the sounds on loop to reduce the player's sanity. I think it's a great game design, very iconic and scary.
Correction for the flight phase: Old Birds specifically choose one of the 15 furthest nodes, meaning that they'll usually fly as far as possible. This is notable for a couple of reasons. For one, you can roughly guess where an Old Bird will fly ahead of time. For another, it causes an issue on Embrion where Old Birds tend to clump up around the ship--- the nodes on that map are positioned so as to make the main entrance and ship very likely to be Old Bird destinations.
It's entirely possible for old birds to never activate, for example, once my friends waited for one to activate on eclipsed offense, it never did, not even as autopilot left. Old birds can also, and I wish I was joking about this, spawn on your planet via the dropship. It came down on the dropship, and stayed floating in the air after dropship left. the V50 trailer will forever be cemented in my mind "Listen for the Old birds call" that sound they make when their spotlight turns on is so memorable too I wonder what kind of message Lethal Company has considering the themes of previous games Zeekerss has made like The Upturned and It Steals. It Steals was seemingly a way to proove that in certain situations there truly is no escape and while you can delay your fate it will still get to you while The Upturned is about how life is truly random and that it is an uncontrollable force uncaring for if you did good things in your life since it can get wiped away by some surreal but absolutely hilarious accident. With Lethal Company though I cannot tell what it's message is since there are things like all the war related stuff, the bioweaponry and how even if you hate your situation there is a worse scenario that can make you reconsider (basically the entire Sigurd plotline) yet there are always diffrent aspects such as mankinds drive to go to war despite the fact it is unnecessary and our strange obsession to make monuments to our greed (the mansions that are present on Dine and Rend). tl;dr: I have no idea what Lethal Company is trying to tell but it feels tragic, have a nice day to whoever is that read this entire thing
One interpretation of Lethal Company I've heard is the idea of the food chain and there's always a bigger fish. Worms eat giants that eat employees, but all would be eaten by The Company given the chance. With the old birds, this is a new enemy that specifically counters other, previously untouchable enemies. In gameplay this includes the giant, but in lore it also extends to the coilheads.
@@YEs69th420 Indeed.
