I've played Astral Chain so many times and I'm still not tired of it. Heck, I've almost finished a second completionist run of the game. It is the game that I recommend to anyone who wants a Switch or has a Switch because it is that good. Yes the story is a bit trope heavy, but who cares about that when the gameplay is so unbelievably smooth. The soundtrack is divine, the enemies and bosses are incredible, and do not get me started on the amount of options you have to brutally murder chimeras and thugs. The moment Nintendo announces a sequel, I will scream to the heavens in sheer ecstasy.
You know, I think you could make a case for the entire Xenoblade series, those games are so good (and I know, JRPG is a fairly niche genre so the sales aren’t gonna be huge) that even acknowledging all of that they should each have sold at least 3M. Monolith Soft deserves that, those games deserve that.
Absolutely, people let the silliest things put them off playing. Especially now they're ironed out the mechanics like field skills and community with 3 and Future redeemed. XC1 is still my favourite game of all time, and the Klaus saga as a whole is something no JRPG fan should miss

Fantastic list, cannot stress enough how much I appreciate this type of content especially when the games are so so deserving. Every one of these, bangers. Every time someone asks me to name underrated games, Valkyria Chronicles, Astral Chain, Metroid Dread, Bravely Default II - they’re all the first games on my list and they’re all here getting some well deserved recognition!! Thank you for the great content! Only thing I can do is try to shine a light on another game. So far my pick for underrated game of 2023 (on Switch and beyond) is Paranormasight the Seven Mysteries of Honjo so I’ll just spread the love there
I was excited to play Strikers after beating Persona 5 Royal and boy did the game not disappoint. The combat is fun, the variety of ways to slaughter hordes of enemies is beautiful, and it gave me the most difficult and terrifying version of the Reaper. Merciless difficulty might as well have been dark souls mode, but I loved it a lot. Then again, hack and slash games are my jam, so it's only natural that I would enjoy Strikers.

FE Engage was first FE game I've ever played. Whilst combat is good, I gave up on as it had poor English voice acting & the story was lacking. I did switch to Japanese audio with English subtitles, which made it slightly better. In the end I couldn't engage with the story or characters so I traded it in after finding a copy of 3 Houses. Glad I did, better voice acting & story so far.
I don’t know how in the heck you have time to play Astral Chain four times, Persona 5 twice… god only knows how many other replays of additional games. I only play things once and can’t keep up with everything.
Really agree with you on Bravely Default 2, Trials Of Mana and Fire Emblem Engage. Chibi 3d model character games seem to be deemed bad these days, but at the same time these same reviewers worship hd 2d so much, it's unfair. I know it's a difference in taste, but to give a game a low score for that is absolutely unfair. This is why I never look at metacritic reviews. You miss a lot of great and fun games when you base your game purchases off metacritic (and the like) scores. I always prefer to watch youtube reviews tbh, because the gane being fun is what matters to me - not any of the minor stuff critics and game journalists whine about that I would never even notice on a normal gameplay. Too much nitpicking.
Embrace the cheese of Fire Emblem Engage and you’re guaranteed to have a good time. I’ll add Harvestella to the underrated list (especially user reviews). Really great music and pleasant visuals. Tbh I personally hate all the hd 2d remakes coming out these days. That chrono trigger remake doesn't look like a remake at all with the same pixel graphics. Doesn't take advantage of the modern hardware it's being remade for. Trials Of Mana Remake should be the standard for old game remakes.
I LOVE Metroid Dread! My only complaint is that the game should’ve been about 3-5 hours longer with another boss or two thrown in. I feel like you can just blast through this game in a few hours and that’s what holds it back for me. Phenomenal game though. Just wish there was more of it
I've played via rental or own quite a number of these games...I was REALLY hoping VC4 would give the series the boost it needed to FINALLY get VC3 ported to the US..I own VC3 on PSP but the only way to play it in English is to download a fan patch for it since it never made it to the US and I had to import it...lucky the version I got already has all the DLC so I didn't have to make a Japanese account to get them. Astral Chain needs more attention I always recommend every time I can. Battle Chasers I really try because I like the comics back in the day but the difficulty spikes and the very slow level up (farming in this game is ridiculous) makes me put it down and never look back.

Yeah Tales of Vesperia was a Great Game, already Played on Xbox, I just had a thought of maybe Buying it for the Switch too. Persona 5 Strikers was also a Great game, but for me not on Switch. Back in January 2023 Since I Played and Completed the Persona 5 Royal on Xbox and wanted to Continue the Story of the Phantom Thives in Strikers, I tried it on my Switch with the Cardridge that I Borrowed from my friend. But the Graphics were Terrible, so I decided to Buy the Game on Steam Instead that was luckily on Sale then. Sorry, but for me who was enjoyed the Game on Xbox Series S and PC (it's a Play anywhere Game on Xbox) with these Graphics, the P5S on Switch was to Downgrade-Like to me. I would like to recommend some good Games for the Switch as well: The First one Is Little Witch Nobeta. Although I played the PC version from Steam, I watched and sometimes helped a Friend who had the Switch version and I have to Say, the Game looks good on it. For LWN in general, it's a Very good Anime Indie Game. Hard to believe that this comes from Taiwan instead of Japan. The second game is Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match DX. It's a Active Tank Shooter Action game, similar to Worlt Of Tanks. The difference however is that you only Unlock them, no Pay2Win mechanics. There are 2 Downsides of this Game: the Game is Very expensive, on the eShop, as well as Export. If you want it very cheap, you should wait, until this Game is on Sale on eShop, so you have to Buy it digital. The Second downside, which actually isn't very bad tbh, is you have to switch your Nintendo Account from your country to Hong Kong. - Why Hong Kong? Because beside South Korean eShop, which you cannot use for safety reasons there, has this Game in English, where the same game in the Japanese eShop is in Japanese language only. You also have to check beforehand: if you wanna switch the Regions of your Account, you will be probably warned that your current Gift Card credits and Gold coins might be erased. Some countries have this, some other let's you keep it. If you live in Germany like me, you don't have to worry, your money and gold coins stays there, but that doesn't count for many other countries. So if you want it: Bookmark the Game on the Hong Kong eShop, google the website eShop-prices with this game listing, and bookmark it on your browser and check it once every week. When it gets on a Sale, the site will show it. Then: - switch your Account Region settings from your country to Hong Kong, - re-login on your Switch, (bc you will be automatically out logged) - search the Game by just typing DX, bc the title there is in Chinese, so you can only find it with typing DX in the Search bar, - Bookmark it in your Favourite list, - get a Gift Card that has more HKD than the Game costs in Sale, like if the Game costs 48 instead of 509 HKD, then you need a 100HKD gift Card, the Smallest you can get. As a Asian Product and Key seller, I recommend you Play Asia. It's quite Expensive, but it's at least not fishy like other sites. - redeem the code either via Web or on your Switch on the eShop, in the Redeem tab (but bc the eShop is in Chinese language, good luck by finding it XD) - and after you redeemed the code, you can now buy the Game. Before you switch back to your Original Country, you can check for other games on sale, since once you leave the Hong Kong Region, all your Leftover Gift Card Money, as well the Gold Coins will be deleted. Back on your region, you can reinstall the Game on any Switch, the Game's Title will Show up now in English language properly.
Gotta hard disagree on the combat take for Trails of Mana. It’s for better or worse the same combat from FFVII Remake, and for me was the best part of both games.
That God Eater commercial is so wrong. Especially the girl with dark hair😅, that is never the energy when playing a monster hunter type game. Such games genuinly exhaust you but in a good satisfactory way.
always hoped Bandai Namco would create more Tekken or similar fighting game spinoffs. I always like the idea of a "Soul Emblem" or "Xeno Calibur" as a Soul Calibur and Fire Emblem/Xenoblade spinoffs
You're right about Rayman and Metroid........but not about the rest. And sure, it's just your opinion....you have the right to have your own opinion. I just hope you don't mind that your opinion is wrong.
boy, the older a gamer gets (me), egdelordy anime-esque rpgs just cringe deeper and deeper. i used to love rpgs and anime, and now my skin crawls everytime a cutscene rolls. every game should have Cutscene-Free Mode, from the main menu. then i could finally play, i dont know, the bayonetta series, final fantasy or the rest of all those.
hey oj i'd appreciate if you could help me on this one( or really anyone else who played both or at least one of them). i would like to buy either persona 5 strikers or metroid dread as my next switch pick up since i know they're terrific games. i'm a HUGE fan of persona 5 so a sequel to that sound really cool but i also played metroid dread's demo and i really liked. overall i'd like to make one more purchase before the obvious pick up of super mario wonder and i just can't decide between these two. which one would you say is better? i'd probably pick up the other one later down the line

I tried three times to get into XB2. But I just couldn’t. I actually got pretty far in (I think) to the point where after booting up the game recently, I had no clue where I was or what I was doing. - re-login on your Switch, (bc you will be automatically out logged)
- search the Game by just typing DX, bc the title there is in Chinese, so you can only find it with typing DX in the Search bar,
- Bookmark it in your Favourite list,
- get a Gift Card that has more HKD than the Game costs in Sale, like if the Game costs 48 instead of 509 HKD, then you need a 100HKD gift Card, the Smallest you can get. As a Asian Product and Key seller, I recommend you Play Asia. It's quite Expensive, but it's at least not fishy like other sites.
- redeem the code either via Web or on your Switch on the eShop, in the Redeem tab (but bc the eShop is in Chinese language, good luck by finding it XD)
- and after you redeemed the code, you can now buy the Game.
Watching NOW!!!!!!!!1 Let's see if there's anything I missed lol!
Can we get a list of games in the description please? I've already gone back three times and I just can't remember the titles to save my life😊!!
Gotta hard disagree on the combat take for Trails of Mana. It’s for better or worse the same combat from FFVII Remake, and for me was the best part of both games.
The whole time I was watching this I kept thinking to myself Metroid Dread and Astral Chain better be on here.
Great list I would add New Pokemon Snap, Shantaes switch game, No more Heroes 3 and Dragon Quest 11S
Persona 5 Strikers is criminally underrated, one of my favorite switch games
That God Eater commercial is so wrong. Especially the girl with dark hair😅, that is never the energy when playing a monster hunter type game.
Such games genuinly exhaust you but in a good satisfactory way.
Nice list of games.
Good video, can you put the list in the description?
I wish they made Rayman 4, the same as Rayman 2 or 3,these were great 😶🌫️
Imo pikmin should be on this list
This list is great
always hoped Bandai Namco would create more Tekken or similar fighting game spinoffs. I always like the idea of a "Soul Emblem" or "Xeno Calibur" as a Soul Calibur and Fire Emblem/Xenoblade spinoffs
Metroid Dread is a phenomenal game. I think I sort of have to play Astral Chain now since you've shown we have similar taste
Astral chain is for sure recommended!
I want astral chain sequel, beautiful game n great gameplay, but game too short for me, should be made longer
1:59
Me n my fam play this a lot on switch
I just bought astral chain for 30$. Best deal i got so far and the game was awesome
This list was fire
You're right about Rayman and Metroid........but not about the rest. And sure, it's just your opinion....you have the right to have your own opinion. I just hope you don't mind that your opinion is wrong.
check out Fate Samurai Remnant when it's released. KOEI's best one yet!
Astral chain 2 would be awesome
Engage story, and in between battle was tiring.
boy, the older a gamer gets (me), egdelordy anime-esque rpgs just cringe deeper and deeper. i used to love rpgs and anime, and now my skin crawls everytime a cutscene rolls. every game should have Cutscene-Free Mode, from the main menu. then i could finally play, i dont know, the bayonetta series, final fantasy or the rest of all those.
i would hope to have astral chain 2
Nier automata should have been included
hey oj i'd appreciate if you could help me on this one( or really anyone else who played both or at least one of them). i would like to buy either persona 5 strikers or metroid dread as my next switch pick up since i know they're terrific games. i'm a HUGE fan of persona 5 so a sequel to that sound really cool but i also played metroid dread's demo and i really liked. overall i'd like to make one more purchase before the obvious pick up of super mario wonder and i just can't decide between these two. which one would you say is better? i'd probably pick up the other one later down the line
Thanks for the time stamps mate. I get pissed when a 15 minutes long video doesn't have time stamps and I have to watch that dude talking all the way to the end. C'mon I'm here to pick one game to play Not gonna write an essay on em. Thanks 👍👍
Engage > Three Houses
"Metroid isn't a Metroidvania." 🤨
Golf Story?? Better than FIRE EMBLEM ENGAGE??? 😢
you just listed famously underrated games. You shouldn't listed games that people don't know about yet
I tried three times to get into XB2. But I just couldn’t. I actually got pretty far in (I think) to the point where after booting up the game recently, I had no clue where I was or what I was doing. But the huge problem with that game was the horrible map and compass system. It was next to impossible to follow or understand.
I’m not sure weather to fire emblem warriors three hopes again or get fe engage but I find fe engage to be a disappointment bc it was a step back from three houses and lacking content
I hate a game list without a list. Ain't nobody got time to watch 29mins of video
81000 people disagreed with you.
Angela could get it
Xenoblade 2 in its entirety is hot garbage
indivisible is straight up trash lol
I'm tired of RPG lists
This games are underrated because there aren’t that good. Simple as that.
Let's GO!!
God Eater 3 is absolute Trash
It's fun! I liked it.
Tales of vesperia is so lame and boring
Tired of these lists.
You don't have to watch but the poll audience enjoys hearing him list games and provide their own perspective as well 🧐
@@DankMemeCenterX oj simp in the house.
I quite like these lists. If you’re not interested in them, why are you watching them?
There always a boring person like you who gotta complain
You don't have to watch
