- TASBot playing Mari0 at AGDQ 2019 (with setup time removed), presented with permission from GDQ.
The SMB map packs were TAS'ed by Masterjun and the Portal map packs were TAS'ed by Lexikiq in Linux using libTAS. In both versions Mario was replaced with a sprite of TASBot so this title is technically misleading. Lexikiq was able to come on site to provide commentary. Mari0 was made with assets from Nintendo and Valve / Portal as a mashup (I'm obliged to include the word parody although it isn't) by Maurice who also made the majority of the map packs shown, along with WillWare who made Gravitas. dwangoAC would like to thank everyone who contributed in one way or another, including illy, p4plus2, serisium, and TiKevin83 who all helped in some form or another with the visualization board. This video was edited by AngelWind. This description is solely the disasterpiece of dwangoAC. (That's not intended as an insult, Disasterpiece is incredible, but I digress.)
Our scientists were too busy trying to figure out if they could that they never considered if they should. The results were predictable. TASBot was not harmed in the making of this run. The weighted companion cube was not euthanized. It was, however, used as a mid-air step. Mario was not injured at any point. Masterjun's sleep schedule was severely damaged, however.

@@UltimatePerfection have you heard of ruffle? It's a plug-in that will allow you to play flash games when flash is disabled (once Ruffle is completed anyway I haven't checked to see how it's going in a while.)

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

I respect your opinion but in casual communication I will continue to simply say Linux because the extra explanation makes an already technical conversation with non Linux users even less approachable.

The message I was responding to had potentially misleading verbiage ("banned" instead of the more accurate "declined"), doesn't take into account the differences between the very different content types, tosses Mari0 in the romhack category when it's more like an independent game on a different platform that borrows art from previously released games similar to sampling in music, and attempts to throw GDQ under the bus all while ignoring the fact that I'm not part of GDQ and don't have any control over these types of decisions. That's a lot to unpack there...
I'm gonna agree with the video poster than that. Mari0, while a SMB1 game, was a ground up recreation of SMB1, as opposed to a romhack.

If this is the same Mari0 I've played few years ago, getting enough speed by falling through portal and then placing upper portal anywhere else will create Sonic Boom, and your character gains Rainbow Dash's hair. So, yeah.
