Not sure about everywhere, but when I worked at Walmart were mandated to close on the night before Christmas Eve? I had to use a forklift to place bales of cardboard infront of the entrances to keep people from entering. then I had to go back to let an employee out who "fell asleep" while we blared warnings for 4 hours.
Also, I'm pretty sure the commercial takes place the year after the book, so the grinch just lost his change of heart and it like "oooh, I'll take it" then he's suddenly all like "ah shit this stuff is nice, feel bad though."

The grinch saw this commercial for the store called Walmart and he said to himself “this is breaking my heart!”
“The selling out and corruption of a classic character while the executives and their money couldn’t be merrier”
He decided that he had a job to do, he’d steal all the money from you-know-who
“Without their money those fat cats cannot ruin the innocence of this story” he thought
So the night before Christmas, he tracked down this sell-out villain, and plundered and stole from Mr. McMillon
It was then that the grinch realized his error, he made too much noise and turned around in terror
As Doug himself looked at the grinch, the old green bag got away in a pinch!
With all the cash and McMillon as their master, you may be fast, but Walmart is faster.
