The New Norm blew up on Twitter last week for being the self-proclaimed "first adult animated sitcom on X". In reality, it's one of the most unfunny things I've ever seen in my life but what IS funny is what the internet did to the Norm fandom following its release...

So what do you all think of The New Norm? I feel like we can't get a break from this level of garbage. Let's just go watch King of the Hill instead!
The New Norm of the North
What the hell!
First Mr. Birchum and now this!
Also please do review and watch on that French-Italian animated feature film "Eleanor's Secret [2009]"
Come on it would be a perfect opportunity to review this film i suggested ;(
I get it, you hate gay people and immigrants, you don't have to repeat It to us every time
Hey there saberspark!!👋 big fan since 2018 !! I’m so glad to see you in 2024

And NFT Madness
Again, love your videos!! I can’t wait to see your video on 100% Wolf movie it’s so bad and not to mention I’m pretty sure the creator is a furry (but that’s just rumors)
Hi saber
The fact that the pilot has garnered a fanbase filled with the exact opposite people of its target audience is so incredibly ironic, I love it
Same with Birchum. That show is big in the queer community.
I don't know if the "woke" genuinely enjoy it, are hate watching it ironically, or are actively trying to coopt things made to hurt them by embracing them, but whatever the case, I love it.
I can just imagine the conversation.
"Hey, woke libtards, what do you think of this! It's so offensive and mocking, right?"
"This is awesome! I love it!"
"Wait, no, that's not how..."
"I'm going to draw the main character and that other teacher kissing, they're totally gay for each other"
"No stop!"
I feel like Its because most people just like the non-binary character
The Birchum Effect

I love how the “draw your enemies as pregnant” started as a joke for artists, but now it’s an actual thing people do to annoy people
It's amazing dude, I love it so much
Their true power is finally being shown.
It's the greatest powerplay I've seen, honestly
It’s the most potent weapon in an artist’s arsenal.
But what about my male enemies?
That's not a furry mask. That's... that's a puppy play mask. That's a whole *thing* in the gay community.
And it's *really* well drawn. Like... suspiciously so. "They draw liquids a little too thick" suspicious. "They draw feet a little too well" suspicious.
It's a cute mask :3

Dang. They're STILL mad that Hamilton had a diverse cast? That was YEARS ago.
Miku binder Jefferson traumatized them /s
That's nothing... There's an entire site that collects mods for FANTASY games, making the cast "realistic" because a dark skinned elf of a dwarf with non-white phenotype "destroys immersion", and "breaks medieval Europe status quo", though I REALLY question how they found bloody Paris in Faerun on planet Abeir-Toril... God help us if they ever get to Discworld, we'd have rewrites of the Great A'Tuin being orange with a combover.
@@KasumiRINA same shit happened in a fantasy game I play. Conservatives flipped their shit when they found out the church didn’t suppress gays.
“Oh yea we live in a world where there are dragons and gryphons, elves, dwarves, demons, mages. Cities that have millions of residents when the largest city in all of Europe at the time had only 60k. Centralized bureaucracy at the height of feudalism, blue water seafaring before the Caravel, talking animals, etc, etc, etc.
But no, the gays are what you have a problem with.
I can understand the idea of “there would not be much racial diversity in the Middle Ages”
But that only works if it’s a planet with the same technological limitations that we had. Fantasy writers can theoretically do whatever the fuck they want to explain it away, or they don’t even have to.
@@KasumiRINAwhy tf would one want "medieval status quo" on medieval fantasy games? There's 0 need for that lmao

@@E2_Awesomehow? There’s not an ounce of creativity or wit to anything it attempts
People forget the core message of All in the Family was that Archie had to come to terms with a changing world in a way that didn’t drive everyone in it away. And he genuinely cared to try and make that change.
You mean the wife didn't just give everyone tickets to Disney World and everyone acted like somebody just died in the family, but went to Disney World anyway?
Yeah but the only part of the Beverly LaSalle episodes they watched is when she was gay bashed so they miss the messages of that story arc.
They keep referencing "Nonbinary Chaz," I can't wait for them to drop their rival character "Binary Chaz."
chazwick thurman helluva boss could pass for a binary chaz
its nonbinary chaz’s evil twin who was separated at birth and raised in like texas or smth so he/she (bc duh) is as ‘unwoke’ as possible
they have a shitty fight in like a hobby lobby parking lot (bc conservative store)
That actually sounds hilarious
And the design is just a color swap with the colors on the other side of the color wheel
I think you meant 01000011 01101000 01100001 01111010
That's not a furry mask, that's a puppy play mask. Someone in that show has intimate knowledge of gay leather/bear scene.
😏
That mask is an obvious callback to photos of military enlisted/officers that were published a few years ago where they wore these fetish masks while dressed in full parade uniform thus denigrating the military service to show that it's full of freaks 😂
It was quite the controversy. Surprised the libbies here don't know about that.
Yeah it’s purely a kink thing. It’s also worth noting the color cus In that culture different colors mean different things
Guy's actually pretty cool
It's a pup hood and it's not purely a kink thing, so much as a form of self expression and a subculture of the queer community. I've never known color to matter, but that could vary with your local community
Imagine not knowing how to use "them" in sentences for someone's pronouns ... over, and over, and over. Like, it really isn't that hard, they're complicating things so much more than needs to be.
Them need some book learnin's, I tell you hwat.
I've been defaulting to use they/them pronouns for everyone I don't know the gender of since I learned to speak. It's not hard
I mean, they tend to make "jokes" about pronouns like "my pronouns are kiss/my ass" (like... how?!), would you expect them to actually know better?
@@MrGared22 Not caring about others' pronouns is generally different from basic grammar, really. But I do understand what you mean, using improper grammar as a tiny way of making a jab at someone's choice of pronouns -.-
Beyond childish really, but what could we expect?
I thought it was intentional ignorance.
I mean… it’s using they/them with the grammar of his/her. Its just hard for the brain ig
As someone who was raised *deeply* conservative, this show really does give you a deep dive into how conservatives think/view the world. For example the "government program" in-universe that puts LGBTQ+ people in the households of the anti-woke crowd to re-educate is 100% nonsense from a realistic standpoint, but conservatives really do fear that it's gonna be shoved "in their faces" any day now and they'll be forcibly reeducated and made to become 'woke'. Ultimately this comes from projection like so many things, cuz they wanna force their views on everyone else. They justify that by saying "Well 'The Left' was gonna do it first, so we have to be preemptive and do it to them before they can!" even though it was never gonna happen and it was purely something inside their own minds from day one.
Also it's a shame Saberspark didn't bring up why Non-binary Chaz didn't drink the beer: Because they're under 21; yet it's portrayed as if them refusing that is somehow the actually 'offensive' thing in that situation. It reminds me of how in Mr. Birchum, the 'woke teacher' turned in the titular Mr. Birchum, for using CHILD LABOR, and said 'woke teacher' was the one portrayed as the bad guy for doing it!
I find it hilarious that they clearly understand the concerns of AI taking over, yet treat those concerns as a punchline, even as they themselves are almost certainly USING AI just so they don't have to pay people. Once again 'swing and a miss' from conservatives.
It's also really weird to me that in most of these episode descriptions is how (nonbinary) Chaz is specifically pointed out, as if somehow THAT is the sole char everyone will want to know all about, and how they relate to each episode.
Ultimately shows like The New Norm (which the title is the only thing remotely clever about this show), Mr. Birchum, etc will never 'get' is that the truly 'anti-woke' crowd won't be satisfied with shows like this. Because the shows still *acknowledge* the LGBTQ+ community *exists* at all, and the bigots don't want that. Showing that those groups exist is still 'woke' to them, no matter how much the joke is about how stupid "Leftists and minorities" are. At the end of the day, the only thing that satisfies the bigots on the right is the complete ERASURE of anyone who doesn't look, think, believe, and act like they do. This is also why at the end of the day, the so-called 'conservative comedy' fails and falls flat, because conservatives don't want to have to acknowledge there's people who aren't like they are, and they can't stand that such people exist (and are allowed to exist), which is why they're turned into punchlines and strawmen to dehumanize them and not see them as 'being' people worthy of consideration.

King of the Hill was also really good with LGBTQ issues, including trans issues. Peggy is mistaken for a female impersonator at a shoe store by one of their customers, a drag performer. At first she's horrified for being "confused for a man," until her friend teaches her that femininity and womanhood don't just come in "dainty" bodies, but strong proud women "who only need one name," (the great divas, Barbra, Liza, Diana...) And Hank doesn't really understand the whole situation, but he is supportive of her and never comes across as hateful or bigoted. This was what, 20 years ago??
The show is very good at portraying its main character, Hank, as ignorant and perhaps a little closed minded set in his ways but not a bigot. He even stands up for Dales gay father and tries to reconnect them from a fight.
Yup a show on social issues featuring a right leaning main character done correctly. These shows are trying to capture that, but have none of the subtlety, or heart for that matter
Another big point in King of the Hill's favour is he can be wrong. Like the episode where he turns a high quality food co-op (that he only originally joined to be able to buy the actual delicious food they sold as opposed to low-quality mass output garbage from the larger grocery stores) into a profitable business that gets bought out by a large grocery brand. He did not understand the assignment, and his (quite conservative) approach blew up in his face and he had to return to bland supergrocer food as a direct result of his actions. He's a fairly reasonable and kind-hearted man, and him being set in his ways is both a weakness and a strength. He's a character, not just a stand-in
And the reason Peggy was there in the first place was because she was trying to find a good pair of shoes that fit her. The episode is an example of how inclusion can benefit everyone.
Yeah. Love that episode. Aged remarkably well.
I'm honestly starting to think that The New Norm is written by queer folks, and that this is an extremely elaborate form of satire.
Looking at the roadmap and how it ends, I'm wondering the same thing.
I mean, Dave Rubin is queer. He is gay, married and has a child. But he is a conservative grifter
This was EXACTLY my thought. lmao
unfortunately due to something known as poes law its actually impossible to tell if its satire or not
@@homeless_sushi I mean, Conservatives are easy to...Well, _Con_ so it's not impossible that this is one big satire.
"Sheen, this is the third time in a row you showed us an anti-woke cartoon in class."
Why does this show care about making comedy legal when no jury would ever find it guilty?
Fear mongering
Fear the woke is nonsense and they still do it
"we're just tired of shows with politics shoved into them, anyway here's our new show....with politics shoved into it."
That's because what's bothering them isn't the polítics is that is not agreeing with their politics
I dont even know what politics they are referring to
Because usally when a conservative says this they really mean "I see gay, trans and enby people and ive made my very existence hating them" but the new norm has plenty of queer characters
They think that anything that doesn’t cater to them is political
"Politics for me, but not for thee."
@@SuperKiobi13 So… same thing as the left? Because all their issues boil down exactly to that.

Well the problem is, this show is just as bad as anything woke because it puts it's message above everything. Elon musk should really just hire freedom toons to do political cartoons if he want something that's actually funny.
Remember when the word "woke" was used specifically by Black activists to describe someone who is aware of how society upholds racist systems and white supremacy, and wasn't used to quickly describe someone who has opinions they don't like?
Just glad that more people are acknowledging the original meaning. Thank God I jumped off the anti-woke ship years ago.
@@dalekrenegade2596you were anti woke? What caused those views? And what made you change them?
Huh, didn’t actually know this one. I don’t really keep up on this stuff so by the time I started hearing “woke” it had already been bastardized.
This!
@@dalekrenegade2596 I'm also admittedly curious, if you'd like to share your story, on what made you change. It's such a hard pivot that few make.
What I find kind of interesting about the stereotypes that anti woke media portrays is that they are (shocker) way more propaganda than you'd assume.
The 'SJW white woman with dyed hair' was the talented local woman in my bookshop that recommended me comics she helped write and illustrate - books that had characters who were amputees like her.
The 'puppy play freak at pride' is the security guard who made sure the pride event I was at was not raided by violent homophobic people.
The 'offended snowflake trans person' are the nicesy individuals I have had the honour of meeting. They are my closest friends.
Now, the last sentence may make people angry, but from personal experience I would say I experienced significantly more conservative stereotypes than woke ones.
That last point is so goddamn true. Not to mention that we usually don’t get “aggressive and offended” at people who actually mean well… We rightfully snap when someone pushes us too far in bad faith, and we’re painted as crazy and unreasonable for self-defense.
As an Enby myself, the consistent failure to use grammatically correct pronouns for Chaz drives me nuts. Like “He talked to “they””. No! Them! He talked to them! Lose the quotes and fix your damn grammar.
No one who fails to comprehend such a basic grammatical concept as subject vs object pronouns should be allowed to say calling someone “them” is ungrammatical.

I love seeing people talk about All in the Family as though Archie was the hero, not putting up with the progressive nonsense of his day… in reality he was played for laughs, all of the characters constantly pointing out his close-minded, bigoted, and ignorant views he grasped onto, pining for the good old days (that did not exist for most people). Archie was the archetype for our modern day white victim complex, seeing marginalized groups RECEIVING rights as an omen for their own loss of rights.
It's like when I watch clips of Married with Children and you see all the guys in the comments talking about how great Al Bundy is... ignoring that Al is frequently played as a schmuck who's dishonest, lecherous, selfish, and gross. For most of the episode she's the religious center of the family, so for her to go "I can't believe in a god that would let something like this happen" is pretty significant. It was also asking the conservative Christians of the audience to consider if their supposed hatred of trans people to the point of justifying murder was so "divine" if it causes so much pain.
that's actually rly cool! like character development wise but also as a thought-provoking message.
todays christian’s answer with a resounding, “yes”
New Testament is pretty clear on throwing the first stone (don't), but if we go OT (then the religion would be Judaism not Christianity), and capital offenses would be things like stayin late at work friday afternoon. Unlike all human laws that Bible includes, Commandments are actually written on a stone and given by God, so Sabbath is a bigger deal than someone being gay (entire Deuteronomy and Leviticus are laws NOT by God but of the land, at the time - none of them were kept by Jesus time, hence the catch 22 questions Pharisees asked Him).
As a consertive Christian, I can say that people who are homophobic, transphobic, etc... just say they are Christian to try and have some authority. For everyone reading this, Christians aren't bad people. Saying this is a kind of generalization and make people like me hesitate to say my religion. It is truly infuriating that people that use religion as a ticket for being evil are a thing.

Part of the thing about king of the hill is that it’s not really a ‘conservative’ show a lot of the time. The creator is a bog standard centerist lib. Consequently, the show is more of an affectionate parody of small town, rural conservatism. It found an audience with conservatives because it held a certain respect for them, and in some cases did actually agree with their views.
That’s what missing from shows like the New Norm. It doesn’t have any affection or respect for the characters at all- they’re either props to make a point or straw man to belittle and mock.

Kind of similar to the Ron Swanson thing, but even more so.
The themesong for All In The Family quite literally makes fun of Archie's cognitive dissonance with the line "Didn't need no welfare state" followed a few rhymes later by "Seems like we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again." Herbert Hoover made the Great Depression worse and kept the economy of the English speaking world low all the way until 1947 (yes, really, fifteen years after Roosevelt replaced him) because he refused to take the necessary measures to alleviate it in 1930. The purpose of fursuits can be sexual but most of the times generally and everytime in public its goal is to make people happy and excited. Fursuits are considered by furries cool, adorable, handsome, and amazing while this mask is only worn for fetishes. A lot of us has nothing to do with the mask and even the ones who use it doesn't think it's good looking but only hot. And to this day I'm still disgusted by the "Shut up Meg" trope.
And the thing is, I even watched South Park as a kid, when it was new, and while it had some seasons that were just as bad as FG, there were countless episodes that actually DID have important lessons to teach, even while being shamelessly crass. King of the Hill is the goat because it showed characters like Hank that didn't outright hate things, but did voice their discomfort and confusion over certain forms of progressiveness which the episodes would then address by showing both sides and giving an honest opinion. Hank often butted heads with shysters who used their beliefs to manipulate people, from fundamentalists denouncing halloween to indoctrinate kids to rich people pushing the banning of trans fats just to look progressive but then still eating them.
