      You're part of the reason a bill to lower the score for passing in public schools is under consideration. The man gave them an extracurricular opportunity to learn a real-life skill. He cared more about his students' future than he did about new rules that only hurt them in the long run. Those are the teachers that people remember decades after they've graduated. The ones that are too afraid to act for their students' own good get forgotten after a few months. Think about that.

At least the “woke” teacher seems like a happy, healthy dude unlike the other characters whose main traits are pent up anger and wanting everything their way. This show is really making me like this walking liberal stereotype.

    • @Nassifeh
      @Nassifeh 16 дней назад

      A good chunk of the serious conservative audience are evangelicals and Mormons who don't even approve of drinking alcohol! But Adam Carolla is, uh, well probably an alcoholic? (A quick search suggests even his own regular audience suspects this.) So of course he thinks that sobriety is a "woke" thing.
      Come to think of it, Roseanne Barr has also suggested she knows she has a drinking problem, before, when relating how John Goodman got sober and she didn't. In that light, this messaging is REALLY dark.

      Yeah and that's if he joined at the tail end of the conflict and was 18. This means he wouldn't be old enough to be considered a vet at the time. It also doesn't help that the way he talks about the war makes it sound like he was a pencil pusher. Most people who served in the field if I recalled were high school drop outs who were forced to go. If you had a collage degree you were most likely an officer and stayed away from the front at least in the beginning of the conflict.
      I'm more shocked that Birchum didn't come out depressed and angry like a lot of people who were forced to serve.

    You know what's interesting to me about Hank Hill as a character? One of his most defining characteristics is his *fragility*. So many episodes are defined by the things he *can't* do, because he isn't comfortable with doing it, and then usually he comes around to realizing it was never that bad. He doesn't want to tend flowers because he thinks it's unmanly, and then he tries it and likes it. He doesn't want to dance with his dog because he thinks it's silly and then he tries it and finds it fun. He doesn't want to go down the women's hygiene aisle but he forces himself to do so for Connie's sake. For as mature as he is, he also displays a lot of insecurity, and that gives him depth. That gives him room to grow as a person. Hank *isn't* perfect or right all the time, and he isn't an example of what objectively correct opinions to have, but of how best to evaluate different situations.

Problem is he has so many “own the libs” moments that everyone, especially those left leaning, think he’s supposed to always be voicing the “right view.” Think there’s actually a decent concept behind it, but it’s hidden behind some terrible writing.
      Check out how he treats his son. Like he’s trash. But, unlike what Saberspark claimed, the son is not actually a loser. He’s got 50k subscribers, is acknowledged for what he does, and appears pretty content with himself. Heck, he’s even adopted some of the “virtues” of his dad, though in his own way. I think extreme conservatism is the antithesis of good art, because naturally as people trying to "conserve" they're going to have a difficult time coming up with something new rather than copying. The Daily Wire loves to point out unoriginality in Hollywood, and then proceed to make things as unoriginal as Hollywood could ever do. The inclusion of the tomboy daughter rubs me the wrong way. Sure, the dads in the audience of this show love the idea of a daughter that has boyish hobbies, but sooner or later, they expect them to "grow up" and conform to traditional gender roles.
    The adults in my life told me I'd have trouble getting a job if I didn't start wearing makeup as a teenager. Of course, I didn't like makeup since I was told my whole life that girly things were frivolous and not worth the time or money. But once you get to a certain age, they want you to stop being "cool" and start performing femininity.
    I just don't see Mr. Birchum accepting his daughter if she gets a masculine job like carpentry, especially if she never became a wife or mother. It's an inherent contradiction in conservatism. They want a "cool" daughter who will play sports and help Dad in the garage, but once she's old enough, she'd better start cooking and wearing makeup. It hurts everyone in the family.
    I know I'm rambling, but maybe this comment resonates with someone else. It's hard to go your whole childhood being taught that feminine hobbies are less than, only to be told, "Time for you to start learning those stupid, worthless hobbies," once your waist-to-hip ratio dips below 1.

      Misogyny is often contradicting, and most women experience it AS a contradiction. The women you are replying to is literally giving you an example of how she experienced misogyny IN a contradictory manor. But instead of being like “huh, that’s weird that women constantly complain about how things are contradictory for them” you are like nope it’s impossible and thus they must not know what they are talking about.
      Like yo every feminist rant is about how women are sick of being expected to be all things at once even contradictory things I mean, literally before any of this there’s the madonna horror complex of men wanting women to be sexual available to them at all times and yet the virgin pure that is straight up a contradiction.
      Misogyny is literally a contradiction all the time that is a huge fucking problem with it. There are a lot of other ones like treating women not like people, but yeah, misogyny expects women to be cool and into masculine things, but also not and be wholly feminine and not into anything masculine yes at the exact same time how is that possible? I don’t know no one ever figured it out. But women should and if they aren’t they are trash and should expect nothing.

      @@mathieul4303 That is somewhat true, too much empathy CAN be a weakness. After all, you might end up trusting the wrong kind of people if you empathize too much with them. That’s why it’s always important to exercise caution when dealing with people.
      Likewise, having absolutely no empathy is also a weakness. It can lead to people building bad behavior, and treating/belittling others cruelly when there really is no reason to do so other than because they can, and they won’t hold themselves accountable for their own actions.
      That’s why these so called “modern conservatives” see empathy as a threat: because it can lead to people questioning and holding them accountable for their actions when they’re wrong, like any responsible adult would. Therefore, they attack and ridicule anyone who remotely feels any empathy.
