    Awesome video as usual! The cylinder walls looked slightly rough from the video. Would this not affect the build?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 года назад +7

      Cylinder bore is actually decent, just looked kinda rough after we cleaned it so it was free of oil and such and Ofcourse had to quickly spray wd40 to prevent flash rust
      It always looks rough after having it cleaned (the old oil always makes it look “okay” )
      That’s what makes it hard purchasing used blocks cuz if u pull the head? It “looks” alright until… lol
      But yes IF honed? Nothing beats that ftw

    What is the difference between the YCP Gen3 (and how to identify them) and Nippon Racing CTR pistons?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  11 месяцев назад +2

      I believe the NPR pistons don’t have the pockets looking like it’s machined after casting
      The difference? Little to none compression wise

      @danielrubiano5354 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@SRDmotorsports Thanks Ralph! Do you know if the pockets are deeper on the YCPs? I'm concerned about the piston-to-valve clearance on a B16A with Tuner 2s.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  11 месяцев назад +1

      Ah if it’s b16a 81mm then it’s not related to how b20 pistons are regardless of brand
      But the 81 is prolly close to CTR so that might be fine after checking clearances

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 года назад +2

      No not yet but that would be substantially good on the mid range and torque with a bit of top end
      That’s what I suggest the owners
      After they max out the CTR cam and eventually beat their currrent 13.5sec time, Pro1 is my next suggestion

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Год назад +1

      more than that, whatever the stock bore is as long as it’s perfectly round and honed that’s good
      I see a lot of nonesense locally where they run oversized rings and file it to fit not understanding the whole ring consistency to bore is no longer perfectly round…
      plus they also added % more added windage loss

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Год назад +1

      Even Jaspers b20vtec on 1Up cuz it’s stock bore we made sure the bore is “true” and round and not oval, has 0.0025” piston to wall.. thats 0.06mm
      since 2018 it’s been running 12.5s and a street car, the full set up is on the video it’s shared
      I know some did the exact same set up and made 214whp only and 13.3sec 🤣

      @@hox2596 yeah 7:12 is old oil that’s cooked it’s not rust cuz it’s aluminum…
      That video might be too long and too hard to make cuz it’s too “generalized” to do so.. example if on. PR3 head the “bowl” oft times does not need to go too big = it’s already big
      So in general the throat is more important here
      But on a D16 the bowl may be a different story…then if we switch it to another brand like Toyota or Volvo (factor in displacement and piston speed) it goes a little bit different again

    What is the purpose of the block guard on the NA application?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 года назад +5

      Actually…as u mentioned it, we never ran a block guard on Hondas I mean the darton MiD sleeves have it built in so it’s fine
      But Honda’s floating system (not closed deck) has proven to be awesome so we don’t usually run a block guard (The 12.5s we did doesn’t use it)
      However this block? They built this prior to going to us so we left it as is (they had it all along)

      I think want win has two kinds but unlabeled it could be y series (vti) or z series (p08)
