Do it, it’s easy and makes a brilliant impact on the looks of the car. If you’re on Facebook, search for and join the City Bug Club and show us some before and after pictures. I’m interested to see what you manage to achieve.
If you need a hand, give me a call and bring the pug to mine. I’ve still got all the tools and stuff. You’ll probably need to come up with a color scheme too, because the silver car already has a silver plastic trim.
That brings it up nicely it looks tons better. You said you’re getting a wrap for the roof I hope they’re not black spots coz it’ll be looking like a ladybird 😆. It does look a good job joking aside. Well done
With the exception of the clock surround (that’s been on and off the car SO much over the last year and be caught it really badly) it’s worked out just fine! No scratches or damage to speak of.
HI. I need help and your vid is the closest i'm gonna get. The left indicator flasher on my instrument cluster is playing up when i turn: its glitchy. and I need to get to the back of the cluster to look. I see in the vid that to access the cover i remove the 2 screws from the sides of the steering wheel. once i do that, how difficult is it to get the cover off? are there clips on the back that need disconnecting or does it pull straight off?

This seems to be a hotly debated topic. To make sure you’re on the correct side of your policy, I would tell them. Wether they care about it or not is entirely up to them. At least you’ve done the right thing that way.
Scuffing was plenty. Make sure you do a decent job of scuffing though. Might be a good idea to use an adhesion promoter too, but I didn’t se that as a necessary step for me. It’s a really easy DIY job though, I’d recommend it to anybody.
Agreed, it makes it look like one cares. Looks like how it should have come out of the factory, if it wasn’t designed and built to such a tight budget.
I’ve seen quite a lot of people wrapping and hydro dipping their interior trim panels. My other half’s Mk 2 is the 1.2 version and it’s got silver trim pieces on a dark blue car. I’m not a fan, but she won’t let me hydro dip them 🤣
It looks amazing! Thinking of doing the same to my red Peugeot 107 now.

you made it look so easy man! well done.
Thank you ✌🏻
Excellent work, giving me lots of ideas to play around with me new toy 😁

You've done a great job ! Love the radio cowling especially.
Thank you Peter, I’m glad you like it. The pictures don’t do them justice.
Nice colour
Thank you. It’s KJH red, the same color as the bodywork.
@@DABDIY cool man
Thankyou so much for this! Just got a red c1 as my first car so will deffo be doing this! Great video :)
Welcome to the red bug mafia! I hope you find this channel useful and if you have any questions, get in touch on instagram, @dabdiy.
Looks great I just bought a Peugeot 107 i be doing mine thanks
I’m glad you like it! It’s well worth doing, it brightens the interior of the car up a little bit.

Pictures of the roof wrap are on Instagram, @dabdiy 👍🏻
Wow, what a good job!!!
Thank you so much! I’ve got more to paint on the interior soon 👍🏻
Looks great.
Thank you 😁
So a year later, how are the painted parts holding up? Scratches etc??
I'm definitely doing this to my Aygo, top video 👍🏻
With the exception of the clock surround (that’s been on and off the car SO much over the last year and be caught it really badly) it’s worked out just fine! No scratches or damage to speak of.
@@DABDIY good news! Thanks for the reply 👍🏻
Which products did u use? This was really helpful and sightful
I used a green scotch pad, plastic primer, custom matched KJH color code spray paint and gloss lacquer.
I’m glad that you found it useful 😁
Me personally would’ve taken the side bit off I do the temperature and direction
By side bit, do you mean door handles or window switch bezels?
Do the painted pieces give any unwanted reflections in the windscreen, I wonder?
None at all

Hi dave how many coats of clear lacquer cover it all with thanks.
If I remember correctly, I applied three layers.
hi do you know if its possible to take the clear4 plastic of the interior light off mine had water in it and now has brown crap in it lol
I believe it’s possible, I’ve seen someone spray the inside of the bulb housing black and fit a high intensity LED, but I’m not sure how.
do you have to sand down before you put the grey primer on ?
That’s what the scotch pad was for. You could use sand paper if you’d prefer, but a decent scrubbing with a clean scotch pad did the same job.
I have a C1 conextion the radio consol is red I want it to be black can you recommend someone who can do it
Go onto one of the forums like the City Bug Club and swap it with someone. There will be someone on there who will snatch your hand off for it.
@@DABDIY you are doing an amazing job but I hate that red centre consol What's so special about it or am I missing something lol 😂
It matches the colour scheme of the car, red & black.
Do you reckon the insurance company should be informed of work like this? Seems silly but I don't want to invalidate it!!

With the size of cans of paint that you had from ebay was there enough or did you have to skimp thanks.
There was more than enough paint to go round. I’ve still got a good half a can left to start painting random bits and pieces with.
@@DABDIY great thanks for that daughter wants her car done was it enough to scuff them up with a pad or would you wet and dry them thanks

@@DABDIY i know om mark two you could option different colours, too expensive to do so, but you could
At least by the time they released the Mk 2, they’d considered that color coded interior trim is a nice thing to have.
@@DABDIY actually on the mk2 facelift, its black or nothing lol, matt black for the trims

Lol your not married then lol.....our lass would kill me..
Married now, got married last month!
Sand it down.. it wont stick otherwise.
That’s what the scotch brite was for, it keyed the surface very well. It’s been a few months now, the paint has stuck very well.
