Great advice, Dom. The Haynes manual is cheap for a reason, it's really only about 50% complete, at best. I have a digital copy of the Bentley manual on my tablet and your praise is not misplaced.

Got to give the Haynes manual some defence here, for basic servicing info it's spot on and for the average DIYer probably covers what you need at £15 new. You then have the tt forum and yours and bws videos for further detail.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 года назад

I don’t mind the Haynes manual but if anything it’s worse than not looking sometimes. It’s overall complicating and not enough info at times. Back in the day when cars were simple it was fine. Now they just don’t put enough info in them. Plus with bws & tt forum your right it’s ideal. I’ll give my Haynes manual away next month for someone to win 🤙🏻

I would like to keep my TT still severeral year (coupe 2004, tiptronic, blue sprint, baseball leather)
I own it since 13 year now and I bought this bentley manual last year because I also know it will be difficult to find this one in 5 or 10 year.
So for me this bentley manual is something important to get, even if you are not DIY and go to a professionnal garage other than Audi because they could have difficulty to find the correct documentation.
    good advice.

Went ahead and bought the manual and found that it is missing most of the important stuff i bought it for. The price was right for USA at $89.00 plus shipping but alas it has lacks alot on the suspension set up on a 2000 TT quattro. There is no mention on the rear control arm frt bushing bracket for mounting to the frame. This will affect the ride height. It basiclly has the same information as the haynes manual. It does state in the front that this book is for DIY but it is not a comprehensable manual. Was expecting alot more so be careful!

Nice video! Does the Bentley manual give any information about the needed tools? I mean from an amateur's perspective? Just curious. I've got most of the official Audi manuals for the TT (Instead of one book they are separated by topic), but at most they tell you which special VAG tool is required. Sometimes a little annoying when you think you need the VAG 1234, but instead you could've just used a screwdriver... Of course, that's an exaggeration. ;) Nevertheless, literature like this is absolutely priceless and can save a lot of time for anyone planning to do more than just basic repairs.

These are better. Got them at 235, instead of 225. I hope they fit alright, the seller said I'd be fine since the car is stock height. Planning on having the dash repaired, to fix the erratic temperature. The guy asked 400 euros, he will fix both fuel and temperature gauge, as well as change the pixelated screen with a new one and re-program the whole thing. I asked him about it, since I know those gauge motors cost like 25 euros a piece. He said, I can do that and you can have it back in an hour, but it will probably still have issues. I dunno, it seems alright. I think the screen goes for 110 brand new, so I guess it's alright to pay as much as he asked.

Personal I was disappointed with the Bentley manual and certainly doesn't tell you everything you would need to know as there's not too much information after the breakdown of the head for what needs to go past the order of valve cover bolts. Not really any information on the transmission either.
So a general manual yeah but it's not as detailed as everything as the Bible that it looks like for certain it looks like it should have everything you would ever want to know about a TT but it does not.
I'm running a 02' 225hp roadster. I bought the book whenever I was going to begin to work on the engine and transmission anything I've ever read in the book I already knew how to do prior to you unfortunately it does have a great bit of information but. it'd be wonderful to have more detailed information on inner works of engine and transmission

It’s a tough one as it’s not a full full mechanical nut and bolt guide but it is a very good maintenance guide. Most who use and own them will never dream of doing there own timing belt / engine removal etc so it’s geared to most driveway jobs.

That's certainly a fair enough statement I can't say I have experience with other manuals and I'm certain it's far better than the hands manual.
I never dreamed of doing these types of repairs in my garage either but here I am build an entire garage based on fixing a car instead of taking it to a shop.
Because really you can pay for tools and mess stuff up with in some reason (if you're the guy that fills your oil up to the top of the drain then this is not for you to do)
I have and still saved money when compared to regional Audi repair garage will charge.
That would be great to have a more detail appendage of the further points but they save that for the Audi dealers.
To all the others learning on their car. hat's off to you and keep going.
Great Channel keep up the detailed videos. There's always more we can only learn
P.s. I think that Lego direction should be the standard for all directions lol
