Na was soll den Nikon noch machen um ihn zu Wertschätzen? deiner Meinung nach? Es gibt sogar viel gute Benutzer einer Canon in dem Changier die wollen gar keine Nikon.
I’ve been watching Morten for about 2-3 years and I’ve improved my wildlife photography where it’s no printed inside a store in Wyoming. Thanks Morten! See you out there, -Knox
Hi Morten, Your an inspiration for us all. I been at times fallen into a rut with my photography, but whenever I watch you I get that inspiration to get back out there with my z9 and shoot some wildlife pictures. Thank you Morten for doing this.
Amazing field testing of the new Nikon Z8. Great capabilities, and of course, ain't nothing better than Morten's skills for this assignment. Simply amazing.
Was looking forward for your hands on experience with the Z8. So glad that you have been recognized by Nikon. They could not have chosen a better ambassador. Your enthusiasm for nature and photography is truly inspiring.
Hi Morten, What a great way to spend a late afternoon, a camera, a quiet beach, and a few birdies to make an appearance! Lovely and inspiring. Im heading out. Thanks Morten! Coral 🇨🇦
Moetens Videos are some of the VERY BEST. Usually he is using lens I would NEVER buy. I myself have the Z S 400 f 4.5 and the Nikkor Z S 100-400 that I use with the 1.4 TC on DX ALL of the time.
Hi Morten, I have fllowed you for quite some time now and I am always looking forward to your next post. You talk about things that matter - how the equipment work in the field. There are far too many self named "experts" talking about specifications. You show us the real work of a true photographer. And you also show us your excellent photos. Nikon couldn't have chosen a better ambassador.
Always look forward to your reviews of the new equipment. I'm glad that you are not just reading the specs and taking pictures of charts and brick walls. Looking forward to the rest of the videos.
You are so genuine, I could so relate to the satisfaction you expressed after reviewing the photos in the back LCD and seeing that they are keepers, been following you for some while now, have seen how you have developed, and its truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing all these years of your journey.
Great to see a first look from you, Morten, and personally it does everything I would want. It just works. I love that even in a situation like in the video where there is not much wildlife that shows up, there is so much to learn and you manage to capture beautiful images even so. The sled system, for example; it makes so much sense but I hadn’t seen one before.
The first second I saw the Sled I was like: "Darn that looks like something I could use!" And then I read that you made it! It looks like some proper camera equipment but I haven't found anything like it, maybe I can craft one my own... let's see... OH yeah the Camera... I think it's nice too :P
Could you do a short video showing how you built your sled. It looks like it would be really useful for shore bird photography. Great video as well. Thanks.
Your beach is very beautiful, with it's grassy dunes and pebbled sand. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on autofocus. I enjoyed your video and the lovely photos of the little birds.
Hi Morten Always a great inspiration, you are number 1 in the world at least in my humble opinion, keep it up.Watching your videos I always try to emulate you in my amateur photographic way. Great Morten
Saw a clip about the new Z8 but wasn't in the mood to listen to endless technical details. As others already mentioned, the pros and cons of new equipment should be reviewed in the field. Beautiful colours and soft Bokeh, transporting the soft mood of a peaceful evening. My project for spring are insects and I'm looking forward to work with the camera mounted on a disc to get on ground level in a meadow. Looking forward to the next clip.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the camera. Love the bird photos with water sprays in the background. Happy to see a quick shot of Mr Blacksocks fox 😊 Look forward to the next as always
Really hadsoff to your consistency buddy.. It's really seems very easy to start something but you r the one who have almost completed this beautiful voyag of nature photography. I think that more than your photography, your hardwork and new innovative ideas have inspired me a lot. And yeah that last phrase which you always use ' see you out there' it actually shows the love and care towards your passion buddy. Waiting for more some of like this....
Hello Morten, as always a great video even when you do a „review“ of a new camera. The way you present the camera is complete different as many other RUclipsr’s do. And you bring in your adventures your equipment to the limits where other people only do assumptions… Also your pictures have the Morten Hilmer look, which I like very much. Thank you for taking me and other people to your adventures. Best regards from Germany.
One of your videos is always the best part of my mornings! Wish I’d seen this before going to the Outer Banks last week. Now I’ll have to apply your ideas around our local lakes.
Wonderful way to review a camera, Morten! I also love the treatment and care that you show the little birds. I do have a technical question for you. I noticed that you were using a 600mm lens, but when displaying your photos you noted that they were at a focal length of 840mm. I'm assuming you cropped and zoomed in on them digitally in post production, so there is an effective focal length of 840mm. I'm just wondering if there is formula for finding that based on the amount you scaled the image. I end up having to do that a lot, and fortunately with my Nikon D850 I have the pixels to make it possible. Thanks!
Don't know if anyone will see this - As always Morten is a complete treasure - your videos are amazing, inspirational and filled with great beauty. One caveat about the Z8 - at the 13 minute mark Morten scrolls through some shots and you can see the sensor dust plainly in the shots. If that's after one week of shooting, you'll have to clean that sensor every time you use it. Not sure if that's worse than other mirrorless units or not. Anyone comment yea or nay?
While I always enjoy your videos, from this one I picked up a useful tip, which was the one at the end about freeing the thumb for moving the focus point. As I have Z6s, I need to move the focus point around a lot and so far I have struggled, as I'm using back-button focus. As I want to be able to use that most of the time, I have set the FN2 button to focus as well. I couldn't find an easy and quick way to switch settings between back-button focus and shutter button focus. Keep the interesting and enjoyable videos coming.
Thanks again! Cup of coffee and a Morten Hilmer video - ahh! Couple of questions: I love your sled, home made or store bought? I shoot mostly sports but have been doing some birding the last couple of years. I have had the Z 400 f/2.8 TC for about 5 months now and I have been using both the internal TC and an external TC for birding which gets me to 784mm focal length. I have been pleasantly surprised to find the images in this configuration are tack sharp and focus works just as good - no downsides to this. I wonder if you have tried this combo with your 600mm?
Dear Morten, thank you very much for the excellent video; I have been following your travels for a long time with a Z9, a wonderful journey; I have a dilemma to solve, I will soon buy new equipment to photograph. I had a Canon DSLR but upon returning from Africa I made the decision to change everything, considering image quality and especially the weight to carry. So I sold everything and am looking at options. I've always used Canon but I've always felt some envy of the images produced with Nikon, I hope this has some basis. I really love photographing wildlife and I'm unsure whether to choose Nikon or Canon. Canon is expected to make new and important releases soon and expectations are high. But Nikon still has the advantage that its lenses are more accessible, including from third-party manufacturers. My opportunity is unique because now I am in a position to choose any of them. But the doubt persists. And now? which one should I buy? Help!!!
Cracking images, and really good to see they gave it to you for 8 days rather than a few hours some others had. Looks like the Z8 will be a great all rounder, though a bit out of my budget at the moment.
I'm really curious about how you made the sled, I use a groundpod which is awesome but the sled looks a little more useful...and the first bird was a Common ringed plover, they're amazing waders to watch but always so cautious.
Said below but truly good stuff to see a camera review in the field, and in this case with some of the 'field' (sand) on the camera. I note with you it's normally snow on the equipment :) Thanks for this video, as always. And some beautiful shots; thanks for sharing.
I wonder how well lens button autofocus would work for your technique? Left hand with a thumb on the lens Fn button, right hand with the thumb on the joystick and index on the shutter button. Anyway, superb shots as always. Your videos are always enjoyable and very calmly entertaining, if that makes sense.
Hello, Morten Hilmer. I use natural bristle paint brushes, one-inch to three-inch to clean the sand from my gear after a photo trip to the beach. What do you use?
5:46 That looks like a Ringed Plover (adult male). They live in Arctic Eurasia. We don't have them here in Australia. Regarding the camera, Z8 is impressive. I have pre-order one already. However the 600 f4 lens is too expensive and I am looking for a less expensive replacement, something like Sony 200-600G
Fantastic imagery Morten! Love your stealthy approach to the shore birds so you don't scare them off. The spectral highlights on the waves as sunset approaches, just makes your imagery so much more interesting, and sets them apart from other 'pros' work I have seen. Kudos to you! I am also very curious about your "homemade" sled - do you have a welding background and pipe benders at your home? I mean that's a fabulous sled! To me it looks like you took a lightweight aluminum-framed snowshoe, and modified it to work on sand instead of snow! BRILLIANT! You should patent it and sell your sled - I for one would buy one! Maybe tells us more about it in a video. Keep up the great work and videos - I like your slow paced style and dialogue - very inviting. SUBSCRIBED! Cheers and be well from Montréal
Great video Morten! Can I ask where this thing you built for a camera that can be moved on the sand is from? (this thing on which you can place a gimbal)
Thank you for this beautiful and peaceful video. Specs are fun but this is a nice break from all the Z8 technical talk, my head is feeling clear now :) I'm kind of torn between the Z8 and Z9, hard to choose between two amazing cameras.
It's also happen at my side sir😆,, when I go without camera I see just a lot of things to capture, but when I bring my camera there is nothing found to capture,, I really feel that sometimes in wildlife photography there is have come just one time a moment to capture ✨

I don't get why he would want to do that in the first place. Isn't there a tracking mode, that will keep the focus point on the relevant part of the bird? (Sony shooter here)
Nikon couldn’t have picked a better ambassador. Kudos for you on all your successes.
Na wer profitiert den nun mehr von wem?
The only way a camera should ever be reviewed, which is in the field 😉 Thanks for dragging us through the sand 😄
Morton is such a treasure. Hope Nikon appreciates what an asset he is for their brand.

How wonderful to make these journeys with you and the happy smile at the end is the cherry on the top. What a pleasure.

So refreshing to see someone who uses cameras, commenting on cameras. What a pleasure watching Morton in the field.
Your videos are calm and mind soothing.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us❤.
Hi Morten, What a great way to spend a late afternoon, a camera, a quiet beach, and a few birdies to make an appearance! Lovely and inspiring. Im heading out. Thanks Morten! Coral 🇨🇦
5:08 they are Little Ringed plovers! Wonderful field work and getting down on the sand/crawling!
Moetens Videos are some of the VERY BEST. Usually he is using lens I would NEVER buy. I myself have the Z S 400 f 4.5 and the Nikkor Z S 100-400 that I use with the 1.4 TC on DX ALL of the time.

This is a type of review and channel where I wanted to see z8, just was not expecting it the first day
You are so genuine, I could so relate to the satisfaction you expressed after reviewing the photos in the back LCD and seeing that they are keepers, been following you for some while now, have seen how you have developed, and its truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing all these years of your journey.
That sled is genius, taking my camera to the beach gives me the fear though😉
Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the Q&A. I have lots of questions about the Z8, but maybe you already answer them in the coming videos.
Great to see a first look from you, Morten, and personally it does everything I would want. It just works.

OH yeah the Camera... I think it's nice too :P
Nice photos with the Z8. The small bird is a Ringed Plover.
Great outing for enjoying the time with the camera, coffee and sunset and all birds
Thank you Morten for this very nice and calming video of the new Nikon Z8. Cannot wait to see more videos on that!
Finally there are Chinese subtitles, so touched, thank you
Could you do a short video showing how you built your sled. It looks like it would be really useful for shore bird photography. Great video as well. Thanks.
Good to get a first glimpse of the Z8 with you, Morten.
Your beach is very beautiful, with it's grassy dunes and pebbled sand. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on autofocus. I enjoyed your video and the lovely photos of the little birds.

Yours was the opinion I was waiting for. Thank you
Same here😂
Looks like a solid camera for wildlife photography who don't want to spend z9 money. Well done Morton. The only way a camera review should be done.
One of your videos is always the best part of my mornings! Wish I’d seen this before going to the Outer Banks last week. Now I’ll have to apply your ideas around our local lakes.
Thanks! Looking forward to more Z8 info! Thanks for taking me along!
The review I have been waiting for. Yours and Ricci's.
Wonderful way to review a camera, Morten! I also love the treatment and care that you show the little birds. I do have a technical question for you.

600mm built in TC x1.4
It's a gift to be able to follow along with you, thank you Morten!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the Z8 Nice photos to

Sled is homemade and I have not tried the combination of built in and extra converter.
All the best

So enjoyable to watch your videos & experiences... thank you, Morten!
Como siempre, tremenda presentación, excelente embajador Nikon!!!
Cracking images, and really good to see they gave it to you for 8 days rather than a few hours some others had. Looks like the Z8 will be a great all rounder, though a bit out of my budget at the moment.
Good Video, not a Nikon user here, but certainly enjoy how you test and the environments use your equipment in. Keep Well & Stay Safe 👍🇬🇧
A great video and lovely shots as always.
What sort of lens would I need to start off with to go on my Nikon Z6 please?
I'm really curious about how you made the sled, I use a groundpod which is awesome but the sled looks a little more useful...and the first bird was a Common ringed plover, they're amazing waders to watch but always so cautious.
Some nice photos! Your homemade sled is also really neat!

I love the clip where you are drinking coffee
Always nice to see how Morten works with his camera and equipment.
I think in this aspect you can learn a lot from a good professionell.
Keep leading the way, Morten. Another really great video, thanks!
Those small birds looked like Ringed Plover - great shots and excellent video
That was what I was thinking.
The video i was waiting :D after Froknows and Ricci
Fantastic as always, thank you for sharing your passion!
@Morten Hilmer. On a very different topic: Where did you get your hat? It looks great!
How much work and time! Very Nice Photos!
I wonder how well lens button autofocus would work for your technique?
Left hand with a thumb on the lens Fn button, right hand with the thumb on the joystick and index on the shutter button.

Great video and lovely light for the drone to capture also, hopefully the Z8 survived the sand!!

After long time sir...🤝🏻
Hey man I just started watching you I love the videos super inspiring keep up the good work.
I was really hoping that you had a Z8 and would do a video on it. Thanks again for you’re amazing story telling
Beautiful pictures, Morten. The backlit ones are calendar material :-) Kind regards, Guy.
That sled is brilliant! I want one! ;)
Great to also see some bird photography with the Z8. Some fantastic results. Nikon should've also let you borrow a 600TC for the week 😁
😮😍🤗 a bonus video! Looks lovely! Thank you 🪺
This is the video I was waiting for 🥹❤️
wow that outro shot and many others 🤝
That ground pod/sled is amazing I want one

Vidéo au top avec la traduction en français ! Le traineau est génial.
Awesome Morten. I'm so happy for you. Wonderful camera that I don't need with my Z9. But maybe someday to replace my Z7 II!
Can you talk about the extended battery pack for the Z8. It's the first look I've seen. Was it as comfortable to hold as the Z9?
Great video Morten! Can I ask where this thing you built for a camera that can be moved on the sand is from? (this thing on which you can place a gimbal)
Excellent work. Always happy to see your work.
Love your videos and the way you present them.
Morten. Can you talk about the tripod you use? That thing that looks like a sled. Looks great!
Thank you for this beautiful and peaceful video. Specs are fun but this is a nice break from all the Z8 technical talk, my head is feeling clear now :) I'm kind of torn between the Z8 and Z9, hard to choose between two amazing cameras.
Finally the vlog is here😊
It's also happen at my side sir😆,, when I go without camera I see just a lot of things to capture, but when I bring my camera there is nothing found to capture,, I really feel that sometimes in wildlife photography there is have come just one time a moment to capture ✨
When I go out in the wild with a camera, all the birds and animals run away 😂.
With just a binocular, I see plenty of them.
😆😆 I think every nature or wildlife photographer have to face this kind of situation ✨✨,,, it's so much funny😆 after face a situation like that
Hi Morten, thanks for your video. I was wondering if you could demonstrate what you mean by ‘taking photos while moving the focus point with your thumb.’ I’m wondering how fast and accurately it can be done…
I don't get why he would want to do that in the first place. Isn't there a tracking mode, that will keep the focus point on the relevant part of the bird? (Sony shooter here)
Excellant review in the field once again. Would you be so kind as to do a video on the camera sled
Lovely to see you and your adventures again :-)
Excellent video, even though I am Canon. Fantastic idea for the homemade sled. I would like to know some more details about it
Man, love that sled idea!!! BTW, what pants are you using? They look great, and I'm in the market for a few sets of quality pants!
