I got mine in 2 days ago. I installed a sanwa joystick and bought a black battop and screwed it on. It looks cool and the sanwa is much tighter than the clone that came with it. I love it.
The audio in this video is MUCH nicer than the last one. I'd love to see what a cheap Project Diva stick looks like, and how to mod one. Also, to stop the stick from moving around, maybe try putting some rubber "feet" where the white spots are. It'll cover them up (if you get black ones), and it'll stop the stick from sliding around. If you can't find rubber feet anywhere, or just don't want to buy any, you can also try using some hot glue to make a circle and attach it to the bottom. It's a really cheap way of doing it, but if you can't get real ones, that's probably the only other option.
Thanks! There's definitely a difference between when I record a voiceover like this video and when I'm wearing a microphone like my previous one on this stick. I definitely wish there were more alternatives to rhythm game controllers out there. I actually have one of the new cheap Project DIVA iPega ones for Switch. Just haven't made a video about it yet, but hopefully soon!

Very nice project, looks great! There also exists a eight button version of this stick and I need one for a second player, so I want to buy it (~65€/$) and mod it with Sanwa parts (of course). Snap-in buttons would've been the better solution for sure!
you should of gotten a seimitsu LS-56 and an octogate, it has a shorter throw which resembles more of a western style lever, I modded mine with that, but used sanwa buttons, those original buttons it comes with, suck real hard.

Protip:
Find the cheapest AA batteries you can and wrap them in tape/put them in ziploc bags to weigh down the stick. Or really any heavy object.

I have one of these coming from aliexpress… I think I am going to glue 2 metal strips to the inside to add weight

Tire weights are great for this purpose. Additional, I would remove the suction cups in the underside and replace them with rubber (or silicone) pads.
