      If he trained, I think he could hit 10.1-2. And he if could hit those speeds, he could do 6.5. No one pushing him to that level sadly.

    • @brendancroft5290
      @brendancroft5290 12 дней назад +10

      I think there’s a good chance. Mondo ran a 10.5 with slight wind in high school. He’s obviously gotten a much faster top speed, because that’s essential for vaulting. It’s possible

    • @Dave-lr2wo
      @Dave-lr2wo 12 дней назад +14

      They'll both be under 10.5 I think Mondo will win at 10.38. Karsten will run low 10.4s. If the weather is good and there's no illegal adverse or favorable wind in either direction, i think that's about the range.

    Both of them should race the current fastest decathletes in the world. (The decathletes will win.)

    • @richardgallimore5976
      @richardgallimore5976 11 дней назад

      I'm not sure the decathletes will win. Decathletes are more on the power side & other than the 1500m the other events are power, however a lot of Decathletes spend a lot of time focusing on technique. Warholm as a 400mH, likely has a pretty heavy focus on sprinting as 400m is a sprint, so I'd guess he sprints more than a Decathlete does in terms of percentage of training. When he's doing 400mH he's still sprinting to the hurdle where-as a Decathlete has time spent practicing throws, & High Jump for example.

    • @Dave-lr2wo
      @Dave-lr2wo 11 дней назад +2

      @@richardgallimore5976 Nope, that's all pretty much wrong. Karstens listed PB in the 100m is 10.52 -- almost .4 SLOWER than the fastest decathlon 100 time.
      1. The decathlon scoring coefficient scoring gives slight priority to running, then jumping, then throwing. The top athletes' strengths reflect this.
      2. The fastest ever 100m run by a decathlete in a decathlon is 10.12 (Warner). Eaton ran a 10.2, Thompson a 10.26, Huffins ran a 10.22. Many have run under 10.4. There are many times faster than 10.45, and a fair number under 10.4. Ashton Eaton also ran a 45.00 400m. Bill Toomey ran a 45.68 400m....in 1968.
      3. Karsten's open-400 time is only .13 faster than Eaton's, and Karsten didn't have to do a decathlon at the same time!
      I don't think you realize how fast elite decathletes are. Why don't you wait to reply after the race is run. If either Mondo or Karsten runs faster than 10.2, please do feel free to tell me how wrong I am.
      BONUS: 'm not even sure Karsten could beat the fastest decathletes in the 110 hurdles. Frank Buseman ran a 13.47, Hämäläinen ran a 13.57. Dvorank rank a 13.61 and there are lots of times under 13.9.

      Mondo’s time would have beaten all but two of the Decathletes at the Paris Olympics. The Decathlon World Best is 10.12 but 10.37 is a superb 100 meter time for the decathlon.

    • @GrahamCStrouse
      @GrahamCStrouse 11 дней назад

      There are very, very few Decathletes that consistently run 10.3s or better. Damian Warner does. Not many others. A lot of really good Decathletes run mid/upper 10s.
