I really like this harness. I am an ABOVE average human being - 2 meters tall and 200+ kilos. I had trouble finding straps that would work. This solves a HUGE Problem. Thanks.
I know Holdfast is pissed now! You’ve truly done a public service for fellow photographers and I applaud you. I’ll be creating a couple different colors of my own, for different outfits. Thanks so much!
Jeff Robertson haha thanks man ! I don't know if they are pissed cause they do make great harness but they are spicy 🌶 !!! glad you enjoyed this video :)
Here is some tips that I would recommend 1) Don't have the sliders too long cause they just swing everywhere and they may touch the ground when sitting 2) The safety tether can be a pain to take on and off so have a quick release thingy on them 3) Have the buckles higher up behind your back so when you shorten the harness they don't come to the front :) Update : 4) I will make an other one but with wider belts cause these small belts dig too much into my shoulders with heavier cameras. But make sure that they are not too stiff ;) have a good one and let me know how it went !
I'm usually a watch and leave kinda youtube viewer, but i wanna personally thank you for this video. It may come in handy in the future for me, I just ordered a blue non leather Money Maker for $175 because it is cheaper than the leather ones and blue is my favorite color lol, I will do a review once I get it. Your method does save people alot of money and gets people experience in DIY, so thank you for that.
SerenityPhotos woow thanks man ! What a great comment ! Yeah Looked at those Money Maker and they seem great but 300$ for a leather one is a bit steep in my humble opinion ;) Have a good one and thanks for stopping by ;)
This is great! I hope more people see this and realize how easy it really is to make one of these yourself. Considering that though the popular alternative is nice, it's super overpriced and really not that much nicer.
This is an awesome DIY solution but the design is a little off compared to the holdfast. Yours has the belt buckles blocking your cameras from resting by your lower back. From what I understand this is slightly more comfortable. Great job and awesome craftsmanship! I love to find guides like this so I can try to make things I appreciate
Super cool !
@@DuncanDimanche-sreview Thanks for the response! I watched a few of your camera comparisons but still can't decide which camera to go with. I'm not a professional photographer but about to go on a tour to China and would love to have a great camera to capture some scenery (photo and video) that's better quality and aesthetics than my iphone 7 lol Is there a camera you'd recommend around $300-400? (Used pricing) Thanks Duncan!
Thomas Gosling i’m still using it today !! I would recommend buying the holdfast latch though. Well worth it. Or I would make the latches that attaches the cameras shorter. My cameras keep swinging everywhere ;)
Fresno1199 I am 6 foot 5 (195cm) As for the belts I’m not sure about the size. They are not the wide ones that you would find in standard jeans but the smaller ones you would get with shorts... (if that makes sens) I’ll measure them when I’ll be back from holidays.
Donn Borden Hi there ! I don't really know but they really don't have to be that long cause mine has plenty of slack that I might need to cut off eventually. it just has to be big enough to go around your chest... so it's safe to say that if the belt fits you then it will work on you... (I hope)
where to buy the screw quick release ? HoldFast Gear Adjustable Portrait Slider for MoneyMaker Harness (American Bison Leather, Mahogany) is not include one.
Holdfast is indeed a very expensive brand, but there are crafters around the world who make high quality leather harnesses for half the price, just have to know where to search them. I got mine for ~80€ from a crafter in Moldavia. 3 times cheaper than a Holdfast harness and looks as good if not better! 👌
a great leather for this project would be a leather called hornes leather .it is leather that is used for horse bridal it is Awesome for bad wather Sun. All kind of conditions. And it will not Stretch over time by carrying the camera . Just Google Hornist leather straps. Not going to Promote anyone business.

Way to go buddy, so happy that I found your video. It is exactly what I was thinking, easy to make...
Yuan Tsur cheers mate !!!
Yeah it is VERY easy to make and the prices are insane online !
Great video! do you have any suggestions for making this work with the peak design anchor clips? I thought I saw a few on your camera body @ 0:35
yes I think that you could make something work but it won't be easy nor pretty.
Let me try to think of something once I get home.
You have very smart ideas to save money! Thanks Duncan!

Excellent tutorial Duncan . I am definitely going to try it out.

I appreciate it !
If I had to do it again I would use wider belts especially if you have bigger cameras ;)
@@DuncanDimanche-sreview Tu trouves que ces ceintures sont trop fines ? Ce n'était pas très agréable à porter à la longue ?

Elad Levi i would go on b&h. Amazon has some but they are really cheap Chinese knockoff.
Duncan Dimanche thank you for your quick response. I think I'll go with peak design anchor for the quick release.
Elad Levi yeah that’s a good choice. Make sure that it fits with your tripod’s head.
