- We take a look at two excellent camera straps available to photographers right now; the Holdfast Money Maker and the Rose Anvil Bandit. I heard about the Rose Anvil Strap recently and decided to pick one up and see if its claims held up from the promotional video. I give you a quick rundown on my previous strap experience and then do a comparison between the Holdfast and Rose Anvil with my final thoughts!

Thanks for the video and info. The design of the rose anvil looks very good and I think if you loosen the underarm position of the harness a few holes it help it to be more comforable for you
I have four Holdfast MoneyMaker straps and just received my first Rose Anvil dual strap today. Going to test it out on an engagement shoot tonight, then use it for three back-to-back weddings this weekend.

@@masonjoel8786 - Yeah, it's really great. There are things I like better about it compared to the MoneyMaker design.
I have three MoneyMaker straps, but will be using only Rose Anvil from now on.
@@JaredRibic I’d like to try to make a hybrid. Would you be willing to just roughly draw the shape of the leather piece that goes across the top of your shoulders on the rose anvil for me? I would like to try to make one for my daughter. From the pictures I think I understand the shape but I am not good at imagining what it would look like as a 2D flat pattern shape. I promise I am not going to make more than one, and certainly am not good enough at this to ever sell one and encroach on rose anvil.
Great video!!! But on those waste only belt systems....my wife and I purchased them for us.... Truth...those create Enormous fatigue on the hip bones for sure. This is the primary reason why we are shopping for other camera strap options! Thanks for your video. Really helped me make up my mind! Will be purchasing the Rose Anvil :)
Dang.. not a fan of hose the Rose Anvil looks or the straps.. but that Hook definitely looks like an amazing thing to have.. which i could mix both systems together

I'm thinking about buying the rose anvil harness for friend who loves photography.
If he only uses one camera mostly, would u still recommend the double harness for the better weight disbution over two shoulders?
Or is it enough to just have single shoulder harness?
I would probably stick to a single strap, as having only one camera on a dual strap can be a bit of a PITA on a day to day, check out some of the peak design stuff if you haven't already gotten the gift!

The reason why the hardware for the Rose Anvil is golden for the straps is because it is made out of brass instead of chromium or steel, which is best for durability because it doesn’t rust.

Instead of using their hooks, you can use the spider holster belt clips and pins. A bit more secure and easier to holster

Thanks for reminding me, I meant to make a follow-up video about it. Yes! I still use it for every wedding or event, and I love using it. Its held up tremendously and having the hooks has been a live saver.
@@masonjoel8786 thank you for answering! And for a great comparison, not many off them out there. An follow up would’ve been great! The only thing holding me back from Rose Anvil is the possibility of attaching other gear/bags to the Holdfast Harness. Would be very helpful to hear how you go about this on your Rose? Don’t you feel the need to have separate equipment nearby for other lenses, batteries, filters etc
@@lowesmed5681 For sure. Honestly, I just have a backpack that I wear during the day to be able to quickly swap my lenses or batteries etc. I wasn't every interested in the holdfast specific bags that clip into the system. I dont find myself wishing for a better way, it works great with just a backpack on or a sling. I may eventually get a shootsac, but we will see!
@@masonjoel8786 I got you. I own a Ona Bowery and I’ve seen people attach it to the back or side of the money maker and I was curious to know if the RA could do the same with some modifications. Like taking one chest straps and connect to the tether and another hook a D-ring up in the back of the Bandit or something. But quite expensive to buy and try 😅 do you se anyway it could attach?
@@lowesmed5681 No, I don't see a way you would attach a bag, so if thats important to ya, Id go holdfast in that case!

I think with some jerry rigging you might be able to change the hooks, but I'm not sure how you would go about it! not a bad idea though.

Those straps are to expensive theres a great one thats under 100 dollars ..... My fellow youtubers listen to people who really do there research... Obviously this guy only thinks expensive ones are the best which they are not....
@@saraventura1333 curious to know which brand that is? I’d love to check it out. This video is a few years old and I was still pretty new when I made it. Definitely more options these days!
The best thing about more “expensive” leather harnesses is that the quality of leather is going to be much higher. This is almost always due to the fact that the companies are sourcing leather from higher quality tanneries (Horween, SB Foot, etc.)
