A rule of thumb when using white vinegar, for best results submerge part/s and leave soaking for a minimum of 3 days. Make sure you rinse the part/s well with clean water to neutralize the acid in the vinegar, dry well with air and a cloth. Paint straight away or cover the part in WD40 CRC556 or RP7 to preserve it's natural finish and prevent the part re rusting. If you don't rinse the part/s properly they will turn a rusty yellow.
thanks for the heads up on the colour change, i will look for that when i get home from my 15day shift. i hope i rinsed it enough before i left. i did spray WD40 over the drum brakes - hopefully enough
Great bit of competition and great to let others know!! Another rust remover that i picked up from Astill Design is Rusted Solutions Rust Remover Gel. It is enviro friendly and can be re used. Haven't tried it myself yet but keen to give it a run, Great video again👍👍
hi mate happy your enjoying the videos, there are some great products around atm, i saw this Action Gel at my paint supplier's when buying filler and thought about giving it ago. works well. are you in the middle of a build yourself?
cheers mate, was a bit of fun running that test. who would of thought id get 1k subs, hopefully just the start. i loved NZ by the way its beautiful there.
Make sure you clean off the vinegar thoroughly as it will encourage rapid rusting if left on even as a slight residue. The rust conversion in the gel is important in inhibiting future rust growth.
thanks for the tip, i will go over all brakes with the rust gel once finished. i was interested to see how the vinegar worked. actually did better than i thought. thanks for watching
Wire wheel the heavy stuff off then spray Ranex rust converter on it, it will go dark brown to black and then just spray some vht hi temp spray paint on.
Interesting stuff that rust remover, appears to like water! The parts you are cleaning are called "brake drums" which fit over your "brake shoes" Drum brakes are actually more efficient than disc brakes but they overheat quickly because the heat cant escape.
