    That video made me feel a lot better about where I am at with my budget gear! Like I see everyone walking in ancestrals and inquisitor and torva and sometimes feel like they’re the go to. But not necessarily! I don’t have the time or money to buy those expensive gears and you showed me that I can do a lot of content with whatever items I currently have and just be happy with it. Nice guide! I’ll def come back to it later

    I've been playing for 14 years, but still decided to watch just to check out an up to date gear guide. You did absolutely amazing on this man. Very clear, and to the point. Always making good recommendations, as well as reminding people of previous tiers, and other items that can be paired with setups. Bravo sir, very nice. I posted this in my clan's disc, as we have a vast community with both new players, and vets. This guide I'm sure will be helpful for at least a few people in there. If anyone ever asks about gear progression, I'll 100% be forwarding this guide to them.

    I want to add in another honorable mention: The Sarachnis cudgel. The cudgel is a crush weapon that requires 65 attack, and has no quest requirement. It is the same speed as the dragon scimitar with 3 more crush accuracy than the d scim's slash accuracy, and it has 4 more strength, however, it has 10 less accuracy and strength bonus than the abyssal whip. It costs 217k. I think it makes a good weapon in between the d scim, and the whip. Another option is the leaf-bladed battleaxe. The battleaxe has 2 more accuracy, and 22 more strength, than the cudgel, but is 1 tick slower. I recently returned to Runescape, and I used the cudgel in the warrior's guild to get my dragon defender.

    • @TryHardCasual
      @TryHardCasual  Год назад +7

      I do think the Cudgel is a good weapon when you're first able to get your hands on it. If I talked about a monetary threshold in between 1m-10m then I would have mentioned it. Another positive for it is that you can use it before the Whip if your Attack level isn't at 70 yet :)
      The Battleaxe can be an alright budget Crush Weapon, but I don't like it as much, except for killing Turoth & Kurask. The Attack Speed being slower on it really drags it down.

    Very solid guide! I’d like to touch on niche items a bit for the players that do read the comments.
    You invest into the gear that’s good if not best in slot at the content you desire to do or already do and enjoy.
    In OSRS, weapons have the highest weight in DPS. Melee being the most situational relying on which melee attack style the monster/boss is weak to.
    Blade of Saeldor - As it is a cool looking sword especially with the option to change its colors once corrupted but I think this is more of an Ironman’s weapon considering Ghrazi Rapier is from Theatre of Blood and Inquisitor’s Mace is from Nightmare. They all provide similar DPS overall but can be better or worse depending on what the monster is weak to. Rapier is the overall best option considering it’s price and it’s very good for general Slayer tasks. Saeldor is an option for Ironmen running ToB if Kraken has not been unlocked and/or no tentacle drops. Inquisitor’s Mace is only good for Nightmare and Basilisk Knights (with Inquisitor’s Armor).
    Armadyl Crossbow - A direct upgrade to a Dragon Crossbow but accounts for ~1% DPS over the Dragon. Now it’s special attack is particularly useful for Phantom Muspah’s prayer phase utilizing Sapphire (e) bolts. This weapon is also good enough to do Nex especially in a mass and maybe get lucky on some drops.
    Zaryte Crossbow - Best crossbow in the game (currently). One of the most expensive items in the game, a direct upgrade over the Armadyl Crossbow which is required to create the ZcB utilizing the Nihil Horn from Nex and 250 Nihil Shards. This is BiS special attack weapon at Phantom Muspah, Nex, and a powerful special attack weapon for Tombs of Amascut.
    Zaryte Vambraces - Best in slot Ranged gloves. A direct upgrade over the Barrows Gloves. I’d argue this is one of the final upgrades you’d make to your Ranged armor. It matters the most with Twisted Bow considering how a TBow gets it’s damage/accuracy. Anything below a TBow it’s not a massive upgrade.
    Spectral Spirit Shield - You can opt to invest in this if you really enjoy Cerberus and/or want to grind Cerberus out for collection log. The 50% reduced Prayer drain is helpful when you’re not 92+ Prayer. It can also be useful at Nex reducing the overall Prayer drain throughout the encounter. In a mass it doesn’t matter as much considering quick kill times so you’d most likely camp a Twisted Buckler for the extra DPS.
    Dragon Hunter equipment - Niche power creep. Not necessary unless either camping Vorkath, Wyverns, or can’t afford higher end gear for Alchemical Hydra. Also good for Olm in Chambers of Xeric.
    I’d argue that Torva is niche. It’s not spectacular for what it costs but it is a direct upgrade over Bandos. Requiring Bandos armor to repair the Torva components. If you really want Torva, just camp Nex until you complete a set. I’d argue that Inquisitor’s set is a much better value. Inquisitor’s is amazing for the price point, performance per dollar spent. Torva may be labeled as best in slot for most content but the high price tag makes it a terrible value. I’d opt to obtain an Infernal Cape over Torva considering the cape is a guaranteed max hit (+4 Str bonus over Fire Cape) and Torva requires any 2/3 pieces to obtain a max hit. Even if you spend 300M in supplies running Inferno until you get it, it’s a far better value. Considering Infernal Cape is overwhelmingly best in slot in pretty much every melee setup.

  • @Inscipio

    For people at lower to mid level stats, gear cannot replace combat stats for dps. Spending 20 hours grinding a lower tier boss for an upgrade isn't as good as putting that time into stats and then grinding better bosses with better stats. I broke it all the way down just the other day in my clan for people complaining about not getting corp kills because some people had torva. Using Fang, fire cape, zerker ring, and torture as the baseline gear, full torva, prims, ferocious gloves, avernic on an account with 90 att/str has less dps than full obby, barrows gloves, dragon boots, dragon defender at 99 att/str. This is super combat up with piety on. Around 1bil worth of gear couldn't outdo 9 attack and 9 strength levels. Just train your stats. Short term boring stuff is well worth the long term benefits.

    Very clear and concise train of thought with great suggestions. I agree with just about everything you said.
    Small tip for those who don't mind sticking to about 3-4 bosses ex. zulrah, bandos, zilly, maybe wildy bosses you can go full crystal armor and switch between all those bosses and make good money since you mainly focus on one form of combat.

  • @Borchert97

    I think the Saradomin Godsword is massively underrated. I know this is a hot take, but I use mine at a ton of places, it's still a passable spec weapon as it does have an accuracy and damage boost on top of the heals and Prayer restore. I use it for melee Bandos and Zammy, DKs, KQ pre-diary, some Slayer bosses like Cerberus and GGs. My first 50m on this game was spent on a Blowpipe, Toxic Trident, Abyssal tentacle, SGS, Karil's top, Verac's skirt, Serp helm, and I just camped the shit out of DKs with the Fremennik Elite diaries completed. This was back when Zulrah was the best money in the game at like 3-4m an hour but DKs was a lot more fun for me and it was very close in money with the noted bones, at like 2-3m/hr. I guess it just depends what content you want to do to build your bank though, DKs was a staple for me pre-Nex, once Nex came out all that changed, I've been at Nex ever since, made like 6b, and still haven't greened the log, I'll go until I get the pet.

    Once you hit the point of: Rapier/Fang, Serp, BCP/Torso, Tassets, DBoots, Zerk(i), Torture, B/F Gloves, Fire Cape, DDefender… Every Upgrade is so incredibly expensive and only offers minute Attack and/or Strength Bonuses. Examples:
    Avernic Defender is +1/2 STR upgrade over DDefender/DFS - 85M.
    Neiznot Faceguard offers +1 STR over Serp with reduced defense bonuses and Venom Immunity - 20M.
    Primordial Boots provide an additional +1 STR and +2 ATK bonuses over DBoots - 27M.
    Infernal Cape is a huge Upgrade, but can only be achieved by absolute monsters spending countless hours - PRICELESS.
    Ferocious Gloves over Barrows Gloves is a Great Value for the Cost - 7M.
    You essentially end up spending 2-3x more than you’ve spent on your entire Gear Setup in order to gain +1-2 Max Hits. And as crazy as that is, It’s even nuttier for Ranged Gear - Looking at you, Pegasian Boots!
    You’re better off investing into Stats, Utility and Quality of Life - SGS, Viggora/Ursine Chainmace, Bonecrusher, Ash Sanctifer, Prayers, Transportation, Ect! Those things will both, make your life either and provide you more opportunities to make more GP. When those small upgrades no longer seem so expensive to you because you’re stacked with GP, then splurge and get yourself an additional Max hit or Two lol

    I'd suggest a nightmare staff over tormented bracelet for most players. Especially if doing slayer over raiding.
    Autocast ancients on slayer tasks +Mag Dmg.
    Also rare to NOT use slaughter bracelets when bursting tasks.
    Prims and avernic are also higher priority over bcp when doing mixed content because you use prayer gear for so many tasks.
    Brimstone ring is also a good choice for early bossing when hybrid/tribrid (increased accuracy and passive to avoid 10% def) for only 3m.

      Bcp is never worth early on unless some niche situatuions (camping vork for example where u can splash crumble undead with torso). And brimstone ring is dead content outside pvp imo. You’re better off camping zerk ring or camping suffering (i) depending on content. And tormented bracelet is too good to pass up on unless u stricly use magic for slayer bursting

    For your first $1M, Just straight up grinding out VOID is the best possible armor for every style. Grab a D Scim, Barrows Gloves, Dragon Defender, Dragon boots, Snakeskin boots, wizard boots, Dragon Dagger P++, Unholy Book(ranged/mage), Ibans Staff, Rune Crossbow, Avas Assembler, and a Glory Ammy. Lastly, Take that gear and go get your first fire cape. Now you're set for life on budget gear.
    From there (first $10M), Upgrade your Neck to a Fury, grab a Berserkers Ring, Archers Ring, and seers ring. Finally, Upgrade your D Scim to an Abyssal Dagger.
    This is all you need to max your combat and do literally every single piece of content that it isn't required for you to be max combat to complete
    .
    Yes, I recommend upgrading everything EXCEPT your Void gear as it has the MOST impact for your money, and gives you a flat damage increase across the board. Focusing on doing quests and getting Elite void should be your first priority before upgrading past the $10M tier, and maxxing or nearly maxxing combat is recommended as well. The order below is what you can buy things in to get the most out of your money. If you are nearing max combat, Dharoks is an honorable mention instead and is also worth the investment, though it's very expensive to use.
    First $100M, Buy a Dragon Warhammer ($25M), SaraGS ($20M), Arma Crossbow ($45M) (Yes, it's worth it for the spec on bosses, especially Vorkath and MM2/DS2).
    First Priority after these is Rigour . You do not need Augury. Augury is a luxury for some content.
    After this, you can start replacing Void with BIS gear or full upgrades from VOID (i guess just upgrades and no longer BIS) such as Neitz Faceguard, Bandos Chest/Tassets, Full Arma, and Full Ahrims w/ occult neck. You can now buy whatever you want, but you have everything you'll need to do whatever content you want.
    I'm nearing Max Combat and my bank is only worth 137M right now. I got all of my money from questing, Vorkath, and skilling (slayer/farming/mining/smithing/etc). Set small goals, and don't focus on upgrading your gear until you max your combat to avoid burning out and quitting.

    The one thing I strongly disagree with is the Archer's Ring. Extremely marginal DPS increase for its price point, especially because with that 4m left over you wouldn't have gone over budget at future tiers. I have a 1.7b bank and for ranged I'll use Suffering, Lightbearer, or sometimes Ring of the Gods.

    Light bearer at skilling bosses and just for skilling in general is absolutely amazing and help build gp slightly, I'd say getting that early is a huge win(around 20-25m). I mean using it for literally any skill that has a dragon weapon to boost you can be amazing and usually I'm still on my last boosted level before I get another charge so if I'm 74 wc, I can cut magics for as long as I want until 75 but also that little bit of gp goes a long way over the course of the game. It is also amazing for slayer with sgs as you state, one of my favorite combos, but really just an amazing buy for a utility ring.

      I have been out of the OSRS grind for a little bit now, I'm just now starting to come back from being burnt. My opinion might be off because of that BUT I think they can be good in the right circumstance.
      They give Magic Strength, which makes them better than Ahrim's instantly, it's just not a lot of Magic Strength (unless you're using Ancient Spells, which boosts the total set bonus from 3% to 12%). An unfortified Elidinis Ward would give the same Magic Strength bonus as the entire set and it costs ~100m less. For something like Bursting you get a lot more value out of them from the boosted Magic Strength amount.
      While they are good, I think the price is high for what you get out of them. I really like having a magic set in between Ancestral and Ahrims though and I think they're in a nice spot for the game. I could see a case being made to buy them somewhere between 500m-1b, just depends on how much Magic Bossing or Bursting you plan on doing to get your value out of them.

    Super solid progression. I would have really liked to see some mention of when dumping for a rebuild is valid, what rebuilds are worth it, and how you'd go about it for each respective rebuild. I've personally found a ton of fun in the tbow rebuild after dumping my bank for it when it was a little over 950m but I'm not certain how viable a shadow or scythe rebuild actually are, and I've even seen some people in my CC do a bowfa / crystal rebuild focusing heavily on Zulrah / GWD

    • @TryHardCasual
      @TryHardCasual  Год назад +2

      I thought about adding a rebuild section to the video but I also felt the video was long enough as it was, and it keeps things more straightforward without mentioning it. I personally don't like doing rebuilds because it locks you to specific content and it's easier to potentially lose money to the market value of your specific gear dropping. However, I know a lot of people like rebuilds and they can be considered "more efficient" in the long run for gp, as you can run specific content with BiS gear.
      I think the Tbow is the most common rebuild people go for, I can also see a good argument for a Bowfa one as you're saying. Scythe is a little harder to justify, you have less content reach with it and your supply cost is a lot higher. I'm not as familiar with a Shadow rebuild but there is certainly possibility with it.
      Thank you btw :)

    • @Corzappy

    I definitely think the Fang could fit in the 100m upgrade category and replacing the BGS/zammy spear. It's an incredibly strong general purpose weapon that, as you've already mentioned in the comments as well, can be used during many slayer tasks as well. The only tasks it performs notably worse than the whip on is where you have more than 88%~ accuracy on the mob. Which is mainly stuff like bloodvelds and greater demons. But even on mobs like gargoyles/nechs it performs better than the whip does and on virtually any boss or mini-boss-esque slayer task, it performs notably better than the whip. It's definitely going to be my next upgrade at least!
    Edit: If not planning on bossing I'd personally also throw out the guthans set. For slayer it's a noob trap since the time spent DPSing unoptimally trying to regen HP with its set effect could've been spent just TPing to a bank real quick and restocking.

    • @TryHardCasual
      @TryHardCasual  Год назад +2

      Yeah when I started getting my numbers for everything the Fang was over ~20m more than it costs right now, I would possibly consider skipping a Zammy Hasta and putting it a tier sooner with the price of it being so low.

    • @QPoily
      @QPoily 11 месяцев назад

      @@jordobangs6930 Then you don't know what I'm saying :P - the point is that the time spent healing up could've been spent DPSing optimally and the time saved could've been used simply restocking at a bank instead.
      At the majority of slayer tasks it might take you a minute or so to restock 20+ pieces of food. In that minute you can do 20 guthan spear hits, on average 5 of them healing you for lets say 20 on average. So instead of spending a minute healing 100 HP, you could instead spend that minute getting 400 HP worth of food., assuming you're using Sharks.
      Even if it takes you 2 minutes to restock, that's 200 HP worth of food. Even if it takes you 4 minutes, at that point you're breaking even on time spent.

It provides a nice accuracy boost when paired with DWH and as mentioned in the video def draining specs are insanely valuble and with lance this let's u start efficiently grinding Cox or with a tent whip TOB, there is a reason both these upgrades hold high value. As for me comparing it to rigour it's just cause they are the 2 big untradable unlocks for an acc. It all really comes down to content u do tho, like if ur gonna grind tob ur way better off with a scythe/sang/avernic/dwh/blowpipe setup then just a tbow, but if ur going to rebuild at nex obviously an avernic won't be of much use there and a tbow will pop off even in void/dhide.

    • @TryHardCasual
      @TryHardCasual  Год назад +2

      Just to clarify something first: we only had Dragonlegs in the video and upgraded to Tassets, so it would be a +2 strength bonus.
      The main reason though, is that I had us pick up a Serp Helm earlier. It's obviously best used at a Boss where you want to avoid poison/venom, but it gives a +5 Strength Bonus and you can still take it on any Melee Boss over a Helm of Neitiznot (yes a Serp Helm requires charges which is a downside to it). BUT If we look at it this way, the Faceguard Upgrade would only gives us a +1 Strength Bonus for about the same price as Tassets. Also a lesser reason is that the Faceguard has a quest requirement and the Tassets do not, typically that doesn't really matter but it ever so slightly made me value the Tassets more.
