Was sick with Covid a few months back and i had a fever and could not keep warm… my girl cat sat and watched me struggle to keep warm under my sheets and she came and sat right on my chest/neck. She had never done that before. But she laid there and purred until i stopped shaking. I couldn’t believe it and I’ll never forget it.
Not too long ago, I had to go in for a hernia operation - for the next three days, my boy 'Buddy' stayed on the bed next to me and only got up to eat, drink or use the litter box while I was laid up !
My cat woke me up in the middle of the night recently by growling loudly into my ear. She has never done that before. So I was alert! I have heard her growl before, but that has always been because of fireworks (which she hates!) Never like that, onto my face, clearly to wake me up.. because something was wrong. I jumped up and followed her. Turned out the front door, that I just slammed as usual, had not locked properly, when I came home. My brave guard cat was seriously upset and worried because the door was not locked, and how was she to know, if my neighbours were nice people or scoundrels?? She’s such a good kitty. Much better than I can ever hope to be, and I would kill and die for her. We don’t deserve animals like this. ❤
Bathroom towels?! Wish I could let my kitten fight them off, afraid she would get hurt. Those bathroom towels are VICIOUS!!! They’re jumping out everywhere, bring my ankles, my fists get a workout every time I go to the bathroom
My family had a rough patch a few years ago and ended up living in a motel for a few months. One day we were all still sleeping and there was a brief knock on the door. Unbeknownst to us the cleaning staff had knocked to see if we needed services and then got called away by another guest. When they came back they entered to tidy up the room. My cat was NOT having it....she started charging the door, hair standing up and a low growl coming from her. Needless to say the staff never entered again unless we invited them in and then my baby girl would just watch them the whole time making sure they weren't up to anything nefarious.
I had a cat who began yowling when I was about to take the wrong medication. I had actually put the tablet on my tongue but removed it to see what was troubling him. My current cat is very protective and runs the household.
My kitty (Boo RIP 💕) always knew when someone was sick, upset, or even just feeling down in general. She was so good. I miss her so much but Her memory lives on
Last year we had several window replacement companies come to give us quotes for seriously needed replacements. We sit at the dining room table to review the quote with each sales person. Our cat jumped on the chair behind one of the salesperson and smacked him in the head and hissed at him and jumped down. Needless to say we didn’t use that window replacement company.
I have a prosthetic leg below the knee. Sometimes my balance isn't all that good. I fell backwards between the couch and bookcase. Nacho, my 7 lb cat came running to see if I needed help.
My cat, Ginger, slept on my stomach when I had morning sickness. After the baby was born, Ginger walked 20 paces behind me when I took the baby for a walk in his stroller.
Yup, our cat is protective towards me. She protects me from my daughter. She sleeps with me, follows me, gives me company in the bathroom, will scratch at the door if i have shut her out of the room, will mark me with her scent on me profusely every morning when I wake up with her never ending head bumps and cuddles. She will lash out at my kido if my kido tries to take her out of my lap. My kido is a bit jealous that our cat wants to be with me so much, but avoids her. Also, if all of us have been out for the day, when we come back home, she will ignore my husband, my daughter, but will check to make sure that I have come back too, and then she dances her happy dance around me. But I think we have this bond because I was the one who was by her side all the time when she had a terrible back injury, and I took care of her, fed her from the spoon, gave her medication, made her feel safe when she was totally helpless... Later physiotherapy, daily massages and warm compresses. So we have that bond from daily intensive interactions. She wouldn't be alive if I hadn't fought for her life. The vets initially said that her prognosis is bad and that it's better we put her to sleep.... But i clung on to the little hope there was, and I am glad to say that she recovered very well and is back to a fully functioning cat full of zoomies and mischief.
Absolutely! I was a dog person my whole life, until a feral momma kitty brought me her tiny tuxedo son. I was owned so fast I didn't know what hit me! ♥ Love from dogs is cool and everything, but when you get love from a cat, it's something beyond special!

My cat does a perimeter check throughout the house, including the basement, as if she were a night shift security guard before hopping into bed for the night.
I had a cat that would follow me to the shops! It was about 30 seconds down the road, but she would hide in the shadows at night, and the nearest garden in the day. A few times she’d wait for me outside the shop doors!
My first cat, Moon, we were in an apartment at the time. Every time someone passed or loitered in front of my door with someone just having a conversation she would growl. Or if the maintenance guy came in to fix something if they came to close to me she would growl at them. She was my watch cat.
All cats I've had did this. Blood glucose affects our scent, and when the adrenaline gets pumping during hypoglycemia, we sweat and emit pheromones of alarm and panic.
My 10 month old tabby ran down the hallway out of my room and in to the kitchen and began attacking my mom's blue heeler because he thought he was attacking me. He wasn't. He was barking at the stupid little chihuahua I was attempting to get hold of who we're currently stuck with, who causes issues. But that's a *whole* different story. So that was some chaos, haha. But I cannot say I have ever before been defended by a cat I owned, though I have seen videos of *very* protective kitties.
My (now dead) soul cat would follow me everywhere and always keep a look out. And i would sleep with my cat. He would mark me a lot, and he would lick me a lot. He would protect me from mean cats. I found a kitten in my apartment parking lot one summer and gave her to my brother to take care of, she was a feral cat for sure (I suspect she may even be part wildcat) my brother said that one night, his downstairs neighbor yelled really loud and woke both of them up, she was sleeping in the bed with him and when she woke up, she looked down and growled for a couple seconds "she's a good guard cat" is what I said
I awoke a few weeks ago to my cat licking my forehead. I am terminally ill and think I may have not been breathing. Now I'm afraid to sleep for very long. My cat is 17 years old and I have had her since she was 5 weeks old.
One of my cats is very protective. When she comes into the room she meows, hops up to where I'm sitting for a short time, then leaves the room. When my other cats meow in another room she runs to where the cat is meowing to check that all is ok. She runs over to where any noise may be to check the noise out.
One of my cat acts as my hearing cat and growls if in the hall if she heats disturbance in the close. She also notices when something changes in my body, so I know something is up when she excessively paws and headbutts my stomach or chest
Had a cat that would wake up every morning and go outside on patrol. Then come inside to check im ok then go outside again, protecting her patch. All my cats greet me when I come home!! The two I’ve left won’t come outside in the garden in the cold, unless I’m out there. They also won’t eat inside when it’s hot. So I’ve got to stay in the garden whilst they eat.
Growing up our two cats, a Maincoon male and a Siamese female would post themselves on my two sisters and me as well as my Mom if any of us was sick. They would stay with us on our beds. if we were sick or not feeling well. They liked the warmth and made anyone that was sick feel more relaxed.
My girl, Money did a few months back. I didn’t realize that a lit butt fell into the upstairs bathroom plastic garbage can and smoldered. And I don’t have a sense of smell. Money was on my lap and kept staring upstairs and tensing. She’d never done that before. So I went up to check. The entire second floor was filled with smoke. The plastic garbage can in the bathroom was a melted mess, part of the linoleum floor was melted and I was inundated by the smoke so thick couldn’t see well. Called the fire department they put it out. For at least a month I could feel I was a bit changed by that bad smoke and it took a long time for it to clear from my brain. Ironically I was gonna go to bed early. If it wasn’t for my girl Money, she, her brother and me would’ve died from smoke inhalation. And her cat brother, Manny2, noticed how I wasn’t functioning well breathing in the smoke and he follows me more everywhere to make sure I’m OK. Money is my heroine and her brother is more a guardian than before.
My LexiFur girlie has appointed herself as the 'Official Bathroom Attendant for Mom'. She takes this position very, very seriously. She insists on 'Attending' every time I go into 'That Room'. Every. Single. Time. If I accidentally close 'The Door to Another Dimension/Of Certain Death', she leaps into action, determined to save me, no matter what! She must NOT fail! She yells at the door, and taps at the door, and yells some more, asserting her dominance, demanding it 'Open RIGHT NOW or else!'. Sometimes she yells until her voice becomes weaker... and quieter... until it's just a tiny, defiant, 'mewwww'. It's as if she's given all of the energy she had, and is now weak, and feeble. Pitiable. But, determined to stick by that Door..... until the very end........or, I let her in. (of course this all plays out over the span of about... 30 seconds to a minute) She's sooooooo dramatic! LoL I have zero clue what it is she thinks is going to happen to me, if I go in the bathroom, without her, and close the door. She just loses her furry little mind!
I have kind of adventure kitty that I take with me. We were visiting my mom. My mom has her own cats and a stray who our heart does not let to send away. The problem is that the stray thinks it is his area and he tries to fight my moms cat. I witnessed one of those situation where the stray drove my moms cat up the tree and I was screaming and trying to stop anything going out of the hands.
