This really may be the most important swing video out. I’ve realized this take away and back swing sets up everything else perfectly and it’s easier to focus on the takeaway rather than finding the face from the top and trying to get it on plane and square it up for impact
Absolutely, honestly once you're at your hip the backswing is essentially done, the only thing left is a tiny bit of turn to the top, but takeaway sets it all up
I’ve struggled with an inside takeaway the last few months and its caused a lot of hooky misses left. I only realized after watching this video and rehearsing in a mirror how inside it really is. Great video
I’m a 1.7hcp and for two seasons now I have even disgustingly inside out as well. This video made the sensations tangible for me so I can attempt to get myself back on plane and firing down the line. Huge struggles but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. While it is a better players’ miss, striking the ball from the inside can be pure torture for consistent ball strikers.
What a great video!! The bit that hit home for me was hands moving outside/along the toe line. Its helped me find the feel of the perfect set of the club which has been so illusive. I played terribly yesterday, implemented this today and played so well, night and day difference. This is what ive been searching for, a move off the ball that will "automatically" set the club up where it feels like the club stays in front of me, rather than going too deep/flat around me Subscribed and very happy i found you mate! THANK YOU! i need to buy you dinner 😂

As someone that unconsciously took the club inside for 20 years, these Porzak videos are pure gold. I actually need to push quite agressively down the handle at takeaway to keep the clubhead in front of me. Starting drills on this 2 weeks ago. For me, the feel is: 1) the clubhead rocketing up so fast that I simply have no time to take it inside and 2) increased great sensation of width while having the uneasy sensation of sticking the club up vertically. Took a couple of slo mo videos of myself today in this drill, and when I have the wrist set at lead arm parallel, the shaft angle is at 60 degrees (filmed down the line), where it used to be barely 35. In transition I still manage to shallow it out to a what is probably still a functional 55 degrees (self assessment as functional as the ball flights are pretty great) That trust I am developing with this new backswing seems to quiet my wrists down too in the downswing (always had been using a lot of wristy compensations to compensate for the backswing flaw), which I find really intriguing - I guess the body responds naturally to these things if the movement just lasts the odd 0.3 seconds.
Amazing how you answer the question in my mind as you go through your process. I.e “how do I know if my hips are aligned correctly”? You…set the club aligned with hip and ankle then end at the hip”!
This drill is a fantastic exercice for understanding irons shots…and we don’t bent anough our iron shaft to have the toe of the club a little bit higher up. I noticed that the kid now have grownup and is quite a good golfer .
Omg where have this video been hiding? This is like gold , priceless education for golfers. This took my game to the next level. I’m able to hit down on the ball and keep the club in front of me that before it was impossible and I just couldn’t figure it out why. Thank you so so much.

I’ve struggled with an inside takeaway for years and until watching this had never considered it stemmed from poor setup posture/being too sat back, which is what I do. Great video this!
TYSM I have been battling what is making me kill the ball and what is making me miss and I’ve been trying to figure out what the key moves in this setup were that make it work and what messes it up. This is HUGE and clears up tons!

Man, I love your videos. You really are good at simplify my mindset while setting up. Thanks for sharing all these secrets. Wish you were here in Nashville!
The club at the side drill should help get into a better stacked position. Have not been able to get it right but this video should help. Thankyou so much.
Fantastic lesson. This has been a go-to checkpoint for me anytime I feel a little lost for a years now. That feeling of being more up and out with the takeaway puts the golf club in such a better position to shallow it on the way down. New to the channel and love your teaching style. Great stuff!!
Great video. One thing that confused me as a “viewer” is the wrist angle. A few of the practice rehearsals from you and the student showed a couple different “hinges”.
Has to be the BEST coach on RUclips?? Wish I could get his instruction live. Really helps these young guys out that will eventually be on PGA tour!! Good stuff!!
I have experimented with hips at the heels and hips over the ankles. With the upper body that forward and trying not to early extend I find it very hard to keep my balance and not have the momentum pull me forward. I have to be missing something. Yeah talent I know, LOL
So there really is a huge difference in the takeaway as far as taking the hands straight back and hinging vs the left shoulder taking the hands back hinging?

Really like the bullet points you're now putting into your videos that highlight key points being made during lessons.
Thanks for your feedback! We will continue to add them
I agree. Bullet points & highlighting the important parts are very helpful 👍
Without doubt the best RUclips coach out there.
I'd like to see a bit more fairway metals and driver lessons

Best teacher on RUclips because even great swingers get the advice they need
Been working religiously on your setup points and has helped me nail down a confident consistent swing. Thank you for all the quality content!
WOW-This is Brilliant!!! I’m wondering if this applies to my driver and fairway woods as well?
Yes, absolutely
Phenomenal video! This really helped me to put the finishing touches on my preshot routine. Your analysis and comments were invaluable.
Amazing how you answer the question in my mind as you go through your process. I.e “how do I know if my hips are aligned correctly”? You…set the club aligned with hip and ankle then end at the hip”!
You are a genius started using this takeaway method have not hit the ball better hitting long irons never could before many thanks
The downward pressure feeling to start the takeaway helped a lot. I hit the range yesterday and played today and had a good round.
This drill is a fantastic exercice for understanding irons shots…and we don’t bent anough our iron shaft to have the toe of the club a little bit higher up.

@@PorzakGolf subscribed . Thank you for what you do.
I am heading to the range to practise these setup drills and movements. This was such a “penny drop” moment for me. Thank you!!
At last, a teaching pro who can explain it in a simple way for someone who’s dragged it inside for years..thank you!
You're very welcome!
I have watched alot of golf swing videos and this is the best of all time. Very much detailed excellent coach
Much appreciated
This video is an absolute pearl
🦪… that’s an oyster I guess lol
Thank you!
This tip was pure gold. I was struggling with my takeaway and bringing it too far inside. This will hopefully fix it and make it repeatable.
I’ve struggled with an inside takeaway for years and until watching this had never considered it stemmed from poor setup posture/being too sat back, which is what I do. Great video this!
Aweosme! Hopefully it helps! The set can change everything! That’s why it’s no.1 for us always!

Really like your analysis and clear explanation of the setup and takeaway! I also like all of your short videos as well. Great job!
this is the most beneficial golf instruction video i have watched, thank you. subscribed
Man, I love your videos. You really are good at simplify my mindset while setting up. Thanks for sharing all these secrets. Wish you were here in Nashville!
Loving this content.....I was the guy with the inside move. Not now, keeping that club in front of my hands on the back swing.
Fantastic tip. Been trying so hard to get a better takeaway. Who woulda thunk posture and heel pad. Can’t wait to try tomm at the range!
Literally, the best instructional video on takeaway, ever!
Mr. Porzak is the best!
Your videos are some of the best out there
The club at the side drill should help get into a better stacked position. Have not been able to get it right but this video should help. Thankyou so much.
Wow this video is just event everything!!!! Absolutely brilliant mate

Welcome aboard and thanks for watching!! We strive to make golf more simple and easy for everyone to understand and implement!
Yup. Always next level content on this channel!
Brilliant video! I'm going to try this tomorrow during practice. 🤗
Wonderful information you shared with us today
Great video. One thing that confused me as a “viewer” is the wrist angle. A few of the practice rehearsals from you and the student showed a couple different “hinges”.
It looked like wrist cocking but was wrist hinging in the actual takeaway.
But initiated by pushing down. Once you get it you get it.
Shot tracer is nice addition gives better feedback neat!
Several have already said similar-
Great video! Thx
Awesome content , so simple. Thank you
Took your tips out to the course today and was getting 15% to 20% more distance and more accuracy to boot. This is just brilliant. Cheers Mate.
We always say, the same thing that helps you hit it straighter also helps you hit it further!!
Oh man I needed this for years ❤
😃😃
Has to be the BEST coach on RUclips?? Wish I could get his instruction live. Really helps these young guys out that will eventually be on PGA tour!! Good stuff!!
I appreciate that!
Brilliant. Thank you.
Do I see it correctly that the same basic move-away and posture basics apply for driver / fairway woods as well?
Best regards from a fan from Germany
Once you have hinged the club on the toe line do you just turn the body or do you lift arms aswel?
Brilliant Adam, thank you
Thank you!
My goodness, it looks like he holes it nearly every time with tracman. What a great tip and swing.
Thanks very good.
The student looks like he has a sway back thru impact do you think?
I have experimented with hips at the heels and hips over the ankles. With the upper body that forward and trying not to early extend I find it very hard to keep my balance and not have the momentum pull me forward. I have to be missing something. Yeah talent I know, LOL
Great video 👏
Thank you!😊
How much for a session? Simple teaching love it so much. Would Need to be 3 solid days lol.
Great stuff
Does this apply to the driver as well?
Hello, when I bend over more, the toe of club is up as hands lowered. What could you suggest? Any fitting needed for line angle?
Does this set up still recommended for tall people ? 6’3 when I get my hands out in front of my feet I feel very crouched over and on my toes ! Thanks
Great stuff how much is a lesson
You've had some good instruction vids but this may be the best.
Great insight. You need to be at the PGA tomorrow giving instruction.
We are
Amazing!
Thanks!
9:35 Amazing instruction! It’s exactly what I’m working on during Wintertime here in Sweden, this helps a lot✅🏌️♂️😀👍
Another awesome video, feel like I’m stealing after watching each one 😊. Would you feel a little more weight on your toes at setup?
That swing is a swing that many average Joe can copy !
Thnx 👍
What if someone has a longer torso than legs ratio? Wouldnt it be more natural to have your hips behind the ankles to balance correctly????
Does this work for driver as well?
So there really is a huge difference in the takeaway as far as taking the hands straight back and hinging vs the left shoulder taking the hands back hinging?
Yes, both will look it on Camera, but only when you use the left shoulder is everything happen in a truly connected fashion
This is huge! Passes my living-room trials! Almost feel sorry for my skins guys if they haven’t seen this! Almost. 😂
Let’s go!!
Gold......my swing would be money if I didn't have to put a club in my hands lol
I’ve been fighting this inside move for a year. Do you work with any seniors? If I swing this hard something might fall off…! LOL!
Are you having your students bumping the left femer over the left foot prior to the backswing?
Is it the same take away with a driver?
I love the detailed technical explanations. Incredibly helpful.
Glad to hear it!
Finally found my fault! Thank you thank you thank you
200k subs this year lads
I can't deal with how good this video is!
Haha thank you!
wow
Yeah, look like JT and Rickie’Swing
The most important thing he said was to cover the ball and swing under instead of around you body!
That’s great stuff!! We encourage you to watch multiple times because even as simple as it sounds you can pickup something new every time!
FIGHT ON
☆☆☆☆☆
This was painful to watch -if you want some proper natural coaching Zen Golf Mechanics - it’s teaching you to swing naturally not positions
That’s great!
😂 need to rethink what your teaching...
