    Living in Ohio I grabbed two bottles without a second thought great price. I’ve only had batch 12 for comparison but I love batch 15, great classic Laphroiag profile and very easy-drinking. Preferred it over the Sherry cask Laphroiag even that everyone seemed to love. I have a LORE and an 18 I need to open and try someday soon expand my medicinal note experiences lol cheers guys

      This is still a great whisky that I normally buy. Lore is an underrated dram and the 18 is… just a staple on my bar. One of my most purchased whiskies and a beast of a whisky. I can’t think of a more perfect Laphraoig . It’s got everything

    Obviously this should be taken with a grain of salt, but Fred minnick said he’s tried makers mark that was ages 12 years and at cask strength that the owners had for experimental reasons, and he said it was out of this world good and would clean house in all of the whiskey/spirits competitions that Fred is on the panels for

    • @topshelfdustin3060
      @topshelfdustin3060 Год назад

      Fred is an odd duck, but I wouldn't be shocked if maker's is better with age (if you find the right magic cask). But the people who make it sure as heck don't seem to think so. There's no other way to explain why they don't have a 300 dollar 12 year on the market otherwise.

    the single cask CS store picks should be here soon but I have heard they are all going to be around 9 to 10 year and around $200. 4 or 5 different cask types were chosen from and the sherry interests me the most

  • @jackthepickledhound
    @jackthepickledhound Год назад +2

    I hear you. Not only is it an entry level whisky, at our $83, it's also the benchmark of value for young CS. GA 10 went from $70 to $95 real quick and the NAS selections like A'bunadh over $100 are sad. Kilchoman single casks are something; top shelf prices with smaller age statements. I have a 9 year bourbon cask, would love to find a 12+.
    Independent Islays are rare. I only wish I could stop buying $100 bottles long enough to buy a Laph25. I know it's a better bottle but I can't find a good time to drop that much at one time

    You have a favorite batch #? I've been sitting on 2x Batch #7 for awhile now. I've had 8, 9, 10 and 11... all were good, I remember really liking 9 and 10. I still want to see you guys do a Laphroaig 10 CS vs. Lagavulin 12 vs. Ardbeg Corryvreckan.

      4,7 & 8 are my favorites. I missed 1-3. One of those was 59.9% and probably my favorite but it’s been a while. Those early days I didn’t stock up the way I do now.
      Not a bad idea for a review. That’s gonna come down to distillery preference I’m guessing.

    Debating ordering this online but on the fence considering the mark up to $90-100 + shipping. Is it worth getting or will I be happy with the regular 10 for $58? From what I've heard across other reviews it's the 10 but "more". For reference, I've only had the Ardbeg 10 which I love but I'm trying to expand my collection.

      Do you put a high value on CS whisky for the mouth feel, body, and intensity, plus the ability to play with water? If so this is a no brainer. If not...maybe you'd be fine with the regular 10. I'd never get a regular 10 over this for 100, but I value those. If you don't, you'll be fine.
