I love how at 11:50 when that girl asked him a question Mellencamp chose to ignore speaking into the microphone and turned around to speak directly to her. People can say what they want about "Johnny Cougar" but John Mellencamp is a top notch man.
John has it together even back then.. Makes total sense..everything he says..but that interviewer is totally creepy. the way he places his hand on John's leg.. and keeps it there.. then try's to control the interview Lookin for specific answers and not happy with John's answers..
When the interviewer put his hand on John’s leg & thigh at 1:16 it looked very uncomfortable to John. If a guy grabbed a woman there she’d file charges.
Always enjoy listening to your stories, Melly. Your pure sweet innocence, honesty, is very appealing. Can only imagine the dangling carrots. Would be difficult not to be swept up, swept away. The Interviewer is a little creepy.
I met john at a johnny cash concert I had gotten his autograph told him I had been a fan since I had seen him on american bandstand he ask me what song he had sang I laughed I said can you give me a harder question then I said its one of my favorite songs I need a lover and he laughed his wife was with him she ask him if I was right and he said yes he is awesome down to earth great guy

I talked with some of his guys in the band. I don't think he was very happy back then!
Actually, he wanted to be a visual artist (unrelated to the music industry) before and that he majored in college in that profession.
