sad that all these RPG aspects are gone, sure they draw the game out but it had a grander feeling than what it is today
Got some requests for something like this....enjoy! If you happen to use this as a guide here are some timestamps:

5:43 Scepter of Celebras
7:50 Key to the Searing Gorge(Alliance only)
9:40 Scarlet Key

MadSeasonShow what is the keys you still have to this day and what key you farmed the longest time?
MadSeasonShow yeyyy another time warp video(nice video)
How about black rock depths key? (or keys? I don't know, BRD is one of those dungeons I never fully understood)
Well, made famous by Hendrix, the original is Bob Dylan.
That's interesting...never knew that! I'll give that song a listen.
Keep it up Mad Season. Your content is the best!
Thanks my friend...it means a lot!
Searing gore key had it’s purpose in early vanilla when there was no flight point in thorium point. Nice video!
Former Keymaster here when that was an actual achievement. Man, I was so proud of collecting all those keys. I loved showing friends how to get them and showing them places or dungeons they might have skipped otherwise. Even now I deeply miss the keyring and my collection.
Haven’t played WoW for ages, but your videos always help me to remind those good times with friends. Greetings from Chile and keep up this amazing work pal!!
Can't wait for the ZF mallet one of my favourite dungeons and I canremember always having to ask, "Does anyone actually HAVE the mallet?" lol
It was actually quite easy to get once you knew about the quest chain.
These are hands down my favorite type of videos on the internets PERIOD.
I've played vanilla probably more than 99% of wow players, but I never knew about the Postman set. What do you know, you taught me something new! Great vid as always.
This is why vanilla was awesome, we had to to extensive quests in order to even gain access to these dungeons so when we finally got in it was exciting. Now people can just click a button anywhere in the world to magically teleport into the dungeons..... smh
It's a must I have to explore the entirety of every zone Seeing all that barren space on your map drove me crazy
I can't decide what I like more, the content of your videos, or the low key Mitsuda love.
Hey Madseason I love these types of vids gives soooo much nostalgia I wanna cry! Keep it up man and your voice makes it much more satisfying.
Here is my obligatory REEEE for that inferior horde comment.
Love your videos, sir. Keep up the amazing content! :)
Zenyatta yea I was about to write this too!!
Taz'dingo mon!
All in good fun =)
MadSeasonShow Of course! Just a game. Haha
FOR THE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Love the FFX music in the background too! Great video again.
You're the key to my heart Mad!
rewatching these hoping they don’t butcher HC servers for classic. miss you madseason and you’re awesome for standing up for us ❤
Thank you for all the content, sir! Looking forward to CLASSIC stuff!!
These videos never get old.
Nothing better than getting home and seeing that MadSeason posted a new video!
Really like these video's , brings back the nostalgic feeling of playing wow back in 2006
The perks of playing a rogue with max lock picking -- not having to deal with most key quests, and getting picked for dungeon groups more often :)
Watching your relaxing videos before going to bed is really satisfying :)
Yes I collected a LOT of keys,... but I also have a Rogue, which could open many of the doors with lock picking!!
how great to make an episode about keys in vanilla!! I LOVE IT
When we start the game with a friend back in early 2005 we started a dwarf pala together, we journeied to Loch Modan at level 10, knew nothing about the game. A random guy opened the gate to the Searing Gorge and we went through, we aggrod the first spider from a mile, had no idea what is happening it killed us over and over. We eventually deleted the character because we had no idea about hearthstones and such. Never going to forget that day. :D
For me it was goin sliiiiiightly through the bulwark on my 8ish ud warr...Huge bear came, its lvl was a skull on while I was pondering that, my UD was very dead.
Really miss this mechanic in the game. Yes it slowed down progress, but it made it so that you're no JUST gearing to advance.
What made it suck though was tiny bags that were full of shit like keys to places, and if you banked the keys you always had to run back to a city to get them when some bright spark wanted to run the instances...
The keyring did alleviate some of this crap... but I still think straight out passive attunement was the better way to go.
I loved collecting those keys. I was pretty pissed when they took them away. Nice video as usual!
It was only a matter of time 'til you made this. Been looking forward to it.
Your music choice is beautiful and nostalgic.
Watching a video from Madseason is time well spent
4:45 "We've got quite the costly skeleton key there, don't we Derp?" I lol'd a lot at that hahahaha
Thank you for these great videos !
Thanks for watching them Flash!
I love watching these videos.
The more of this vanilla wow videos I watch the more I want classic wow.
Older wow up to bc or maybe first half of wrath was set up almost like an old school rpg. In that you needed "these mats" for this quest, and need to travel the world for "that mat", pay x amount of gold, etc. Something which further immerses you in the world.
It's not just the broad picture, but all the small details that make vanilla wow a more immersive experience to me. Such as a keyring for all the keys you need for the dungeons, let alone physically walking to these places. There was also no random reward besides one time quest and mob/boss drops back, unlike today where just running a dungeon earns you extra gold, rep etc. Or like M+ where it feels more like an arcade game having to beat your high score instead of immersing yourself in the world you are playing in.
Another small detail is having to physically train to earn your next higher spell rank. Well in the sense of physically walking up to the training and clicking a button and spending gold that is. I guess you still have to draw the line at some point as no one wants to go through some big quest or chain for each spell rank.
Hype for the next key video, weird goofy quest items like this always intrigue me.
I was sad when they removed keys. I was proud of my collection.
Oh i remember the Key to the Searing gorge quest, Alliance quests are so good
I loved having a giant janitor sized key ring!!!
I looove this! Things were so much harder back then... I'm super excited for Classic WoW :)
A lot of those doors' and gates' locks could be picked by rogues. I played a rogue, but still got most if not all the ones you listed. It was a relief when they put the keychain in. I kind of liked the idea of acquiring keys, but apparently it was enough of a pain that Blizz removed them.
Love the use of the Wind Waker prologue music.
Absolutely love your videos, especially the "Time Warp" series. Just a little clarification, at 8:30 when you talk about the multiple entrances to the Searing Gorge, you mention one of them is through Westfall and after that the Burning Steppes, it's actually through the Redrige Mountains and then the Burning Steppes. Keep up the great work!
I love the cronotrigger music in the background
OMG cant wait for Classic WoW!
When do you think it'll be ready? I'm hoping by the end of the year, but with how sparse the info is it could take longer.
Well, I think the same. At the end of the year. But Maybe Jan, Feb or Mar 2019 :/
But I mostly hope for this year because they already have the game, right?! Blizz just need more servers more employees and thats it I guess. And if you want to ask what version of Classic WoW I would prefer!? I prefer 1.12.1 version but I would start from the Very Beginning. And all the way to patch 1.12.1 and I would leave it there!
Btw I started playing on Nostalrius so basically I am new to Vanilla WoW. I had Pala on lvl 32 and blizzard shut it down :/ (as a new player it was amazing 32 lvls of experience :) I dont mind no flying, no mount until lvl 40. I fell in love with it.
Now I am playing on retail and if I should compare it with Classic WoW well, yes its easy af but I dont care and I like it as it is. Classic and retail are very different games now and I am excited to play both :)
I think at the end of the year sounds realistic
They already made 2 prototypes and made the game so you can level and quest soo
hope's up!! 😄😄
I remember feeling so proud and accomplished when I made the key to Scholomance, I was sad when the key ring was removed in cataclysm.
8:26 You can also get into the Searing Gorge by heading west out of the Badlands, there's a little canyon that leads right into the eastern side of the gorge.
I love your choice of music. The Linkin Quest is still my favorite to this day. Nice sword. :D
One of the best video so far! (Atleast for me) enjoyed the ffx music too..great work sir! Amazing
Is that Chrono Trigger music I hear?? LOVE IT.
Yes it is. CT is still so underrated. Not only the Music was Awesome!!!
Always have a competent rogue in your group !
Post Master Malown is another Easter egg. NBA player Karl Malone’s nickname is the mailman because he always delivered
HOLD THE PHONE, It's Postmaster Malown!!!
Nice touch with the Darkest Dungeon Hamlet theme :)
searing gorge used to have a hidden entrance in the badlands, was a jumping path that connected to the quest mob, just a friendly heads up....burning steppes was suicide at level 45
dude i enjoy your videos soo much, keep up with the great work!
Funny anecdote about the Scepter of Celebras is that the portal stops working as soon as the one who made it, uses it. So if that person goes through first, all the others who haven't completed the quest can't get it and once you're inside the only way out is to hearthstone. Many runs have been ruined this way.
Ruins of Andorhal was a breeze for Rogue. Stealth into the corner, put the torch down, do it again on the other towers :D
Hey I recommend doing an episode on the T0.5 set quest chain. You can easily do an entire episode about it. It was hard, expensive and quite long (like most end game stuff in vanilla).
Notification Squad - ROLL OUT!
Post Malown?
Sheepsauruszillarex haha was lookin for this comment
Holy shit
Exacty my thoughts lmao
My momma said, son I see you in wow
@@heycharity_ I was about to add this comment
I remember these they where fun to mess around with
it's just great watching you vids. keep on rocking!
"inferior horde" hell yeah!!! For the alliance!!! Keep up the good work!!
To my knowledge, I am the only horde who had the key to searing gorge, though I'm sure there were others. I switched my nelf rogue to horde when faction changes first came out and the key came with me. I carried it until cata came out. It was very entertaining to be chasing an ally to the tunnel, letting them think they'd escaped, then open the gate and watch them panic summon their mount 🤣
I originally had almost every single key in the game. During late BC a friend and I finished off the last few with him insisting on doing a blink, instant cast, run fast attack on the npc in strat dead that dropped the key to the city that took a half hour instead of just running the dungeon.
Excellent topic and video as always!
you can also get to searing gorge from the badlands. much lower than burning steppes, so it's a far safer run. the passage is in the lower left corner of the badlands. i just did it in classic about a week ago on my priest.
I wish they'd make the Keymaster achievement award a title. Keys were one of the things I used to collect in game, and I think it'd have been a good reward.
That would piss me off more than anything... I had my original account since vanilla, and all the grinds that go with it, and some asshole hacked it and broke it so bad I basically had to start fresh... Still waiting on Blizz to see if I can get it back.
Postmaster Malown is Post Malone character ingame OMG Secret Revealed!
I never knew about that Maraudon shortcut. Did that quest many times though.
Thank you for your videos MadSeason ❤
"For the inferior Horde..." That's it. Unubscribed, Windows uninstalled and hard drive formatted. PC is in the trash.
😂😂😂😂
Can't argue with facts :D
Crono trigger music!!! Fantastic haha
You forgot to mention, but there was a way to open the Scholomance door without the key. One trick was to somehow kill yourself near the door, phase through the door as a ghost, and then respawn behind the door to open for your friends. It was easy for me to do as a Warlock, since I had the spell Hellfire (an AOE spell that did a lot of damage but also hurt you in the process) and cloth repairs were cheap. Eventually I got the key anyways, cause it feels good to be that guy everybody can rely on for anything.
Postmaster Malown was the best. When he killed a player he would say "You've been MALOWNED!" It was super hilarious to let him kill a couple players just to hear him say it.
I had most of these keys.. Even the scholomance one despite being a Rogue at the time and not needing one.. hehe
I really like your voice. So calming.
Key to Strat was awesome for farming Rivendare's Death charger.
waiting for more key videos :3 we really need this
I remember the free HKs when the horde will stand by the Scholomance door and /beg. You killed them so that they could res on the far side. Hilarious.
dude love this vanilla content
I love your style of video making and voice
There's a secret entrance to the searing gorge near Kargath in the Badlands. Faster for Alliance than going through Blackrock Mountain...
Bro awsome as always. Keep em coming
I heard chrono trigger music and it happens to be my favorite song of all time. I subscribed.
Nice Zelda music ! héhé
Keep up with your work, it's really brainy relevant since you're talking of many things that are now unable to get
UNTIL CLASSIC
you're becoming one of my favourite youtubers!, keep it up
Lmao inferior horde. I love your content because I stopped playing just before cataclysm and started again in legion and it reminds me of all these little things I forgot was apart of the game.
I understand why they got rid of this, it was often a pain in the ass finding someone keyed. However it definitely immersed the player in the experience of the dungeon being more than a loot farm.
effort to get the Scholomance Key was well worth it, it meant you were guaranteed to get a group to run it every night - as with any dungeon you were a key holder of.
As a paladin I had a little trick to enter scholo, I just used Divine intervention next to the door, then i could pass trough the door and open it from the other side.
best content creator ever
keep on doing them you do a great job
:)
I really want u to make a guide for all other keys (even if it is not as legendary as it is for the keys you showed in this video)! Keep it up!
Mad your videos allways make me homesick and i end up buying a gametoken 😄
I miss keys, and when they added it the key ring. Made the game feel more RPG.
I remember making keys with my Blacksmith talent and selling them on the AH. Those were the days.
I shared an account with a friend since WoW wasn't allowed at my house. In the guild we were in my job was essentially 'Key Master'. Or alternatively, 'Key Bitch'.
I don't know why but I love your intro
Man that undead elite in Andorhal was tough in his day
I feel like the background music at one point in time (at least at the end) was from Final Fantasy X. I can't remember the exact location the music played - Macalania Woods? But it definitely reminds me of it!
