    Would the hotter outlet pipe from trans to the new heat exch/cooler be better to just have cable protection over it rather than wrap next to cool return hose and inside heat proof tubing?

    Why wouldn’t you run it through the factory heat exchanger too . I would. I’d try both ways and check trans temp . Unless the heat exchanger is prone to failure and getting coolant in the transmission then the bypass is essential.

    Will this work with the 1.9 dmax? They have the same transmission as the 3.0.

    Will running the hot pipe with the cold pipe in the same heat shielding affect the cold pipe temps back into the box? Would have thought keeping them seperate would maximise the cooling effect?

    • @gwhite618
      @gwhite618 3 года назад +3

      There won't be a hot and cold hose, during operation it will be more like a hot hose and a hotter hose. The heat transfer between the 2 hoses would be insignificant.

    Would fitting one of these kits affect warranty. Because you are bypassing the original cooler.

    • @nitrogearaustralia3949
      @nitrogearaustralia3949  2 года назад

      you would need to check with the servicing dealer, in most cases when you modify a part of a vehicle you may void the warranty on that particular component not the whole car, In the real world a trans cooler will help the transmission last longer

    • @D-Max_macca85
      @D-Max_macca85 Год назад

      Better chance of not voiding warranty if it was to still run through the original cooling system rather than isolate it. I’d say they would take one look and say seeya later and void the warranty.

    Hi - you said you had a custom bracket made for mounting the oil cooler. Can I ask where you had the bracket made please? Also why did you have a custom bracket made? What is the difference between the custom one and the brackets that come with the kit? Thank you.

      Not at all the factory, radiator has a pull through fan that cools very well

    Hey there, this question comes out of a fear. Just bought a new ‘23 Tacoma v6 and put a trans cooler on it for towing.
    I mounted a cooler on it where ports were facing horizontally. Initially I plumbed the hot flowing into the cooler at the top and the cooled fluid going back to trans was coming out of bottom port.
    Wasn’t seeing any temp changes so I bought a bigger trans cooler and mounted it horizontally, but this time I put the hot in the bottom and cool out the top back to the trans because I read it eliminates air bubbles, etc.. it’s definitely cooling more now.
    My question is -> did I do any damage to trans on the first install or starve the trans of any fluid due to air bubbles? I thought it would work fine emulating the radiator. I’m just disappointed that I didn’t do it right the first time. And definitely didn’t want to damage my truck any. First new truck I ever bought. Thank you for your time if you get to answer this!

    What oil is suitable for manual gearbox for Isuzu D-Max 2021 ?
    In the owner's manual they say use SAE 15W40 engine oil
    But this oil is not suitable for gears in high temperature areas

    • @nitrogearaustralia3949
      @nitrogearaustralia3949  3 года назад +1

      Great Question Shane , The dmax's cooling system runs through the transcooler block , if that were to ever fail it would be catastrophic to the transmission, by mixing coolant through the transmission so it is best to bypass it

    • @gwhite618
      @gwhite618 3 года назад +4

      @@nitrogearaustralia3949 I think it's best to put the aftermarket cooler in a loop before the original cooler. ie transmission outlet hose to aftermarket cooler in front of radiator then outlet of the cooler back through the original cooler/heater then back to inlet hose on transmission. The original cooler also acts as a heater to help warm up the auto transmission oil when cold, not just a cooler. Running the transmission too cold can effect transmission shifting characteristics and effect fuel economy. For example some transmissions won't allow the torque convertor clutch to lock up until a certain transmission fluid temperature is reached. Transmissions are designed to run at an ideal temperature range, not just the colder the better. By running the transmission fluid through the aftermarket cooler first, the fluid will lose some heat so it will also not heat up the coolant as much when things get really hot - eg. 40+ degrees C when towing. How much are these kits and where can you get them? I've already ordered exactly the same universal cooler as this for my x-terrain, but would be interested to see how much the brackets are to save me having to make my own.

      @nitrogearaustralia3949  3 года назад +1

      @@gwhite618 We agree, but there is a risk of the coolant lines leaking into the transmission in serious off-roading, the kit comes from direction plus check them out I will put a link in the description

      when in low range off road at low speed or towing heavy loads at high speeds the transmission can get very hot and slip or limit torque

    Hey Nitro, howdy, love your work and vids, Tkx! & Wondering if you've had the opportunity to fit a DP Transchill to an MY22 MU-X? - The MY21 D-Max/BT-50 are 98% same as MY22 MU-X in the front chassis as well as the 4JJ3 engine and Asin tranny, and I'd like to know if this DP kit (for D-Max: TC645DPK) is totally same/suitable for an MY22 MU-X ? I contacted the DP guys and despite Isuzu's shared platform, got a generic "we do everything from scratch / needs 3D mapping / go (away) and watch our social media for updates" response and they do not list a Transchill for the MY22 MU-X. If your crew, or your colaborates, have done a tranny cooler for MY22 MU-X, I'd really value your opinion and experience. - Actually also have the exact same question re the DP Pre-line Plus and Provent kits too. Cheers.
