I think you have nailed it. This is one of those songs that encapsulates everything about Zeppelin. And it highlights Jimmy's skill as a producer as well. He's not "just a guitarist"

This really is one of the bestest rock songs of all time. I think it's Zeppelin's best. The opening guitar chords are seemingly orchestrated to draw tears from our eyes and then the song just gets more interesting from there. Will we ever hear the likes of Zep (Beatles, Stones, Floyd, etc..) again? In our lifetime? I dunno.

This song is about a girl Robert Plant was dating before he became part of Led Zeppelin and famous. She gave him an ultimatum, her or music. He obviously chose music. The rest is history, and the world is a better place for that choice.

What's amazing about Led Zep is they released eight albums in just 10 years from 1969 to 1979 until John Bonham's death at age 32 in 1980. Their ninth album Coda was released after Bonham's death and after the band had broken up. Page put it together in the studio to fulfill contractual obligations but none of it was new material. How amazing that these four guys created all of this amazing music in just 10 years from their early 20's to early 30's. Just crazy amount of talent in this band.

Given that Physical Graffiti has Kashmir, In my time of dying and In the Light...This is by far the greatest guitar extravaganza committed to vinyl by Mr. Page. That it is a slow emotional ballad, albeit with crazy guitar harmonies and a vocal line to die for, is just a bonus. They wrote The Rain Song because George Harrison said they didn't do ballads, this one proves that not only do they do ballads, they do them better than pretty much everyone else. Thank you for your reactions...watching the young lady falling in love with Mr. Plant is sooo sweet.

And, Lord, Carol, if you went back through time, Plant would have fell in love with you, married you, and gave you five children! No doubt! He would have seen that you're too beautiful for words! I generally like listening to this track, and a few other Zeppelin songs like it, when I am reading, or doing some housework, almost like being confined to the indoors and making the best of it with some gentle rock and roll from the band while Robert reads poetry. I can jump in at any time with my attention or I can fade out for thoughts of someone else, but never have to adjust to the song because of my addle-mindedness, instead, it just accepts me when I am there with it.
Another great reaction from you both. Wishing you well from across the pond.

This superb song is overlooked by some...it doesn't seem possible that a band can have so many memorable songs....56 years listening to LZ...like your sincere reactions...40-50 years from now, you'll still be listening to them...keep up the superb work...

Have you guys (The Couple Crib) considered evaluating 'The Battle of Evermore' by them? My favorite Led Zeppelin song. Robert plant (vocalist) was a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, and Tolkien's works inspired Battle of Evermore.

“What is & what should never be”-Led Zeppelin

So a couple of things, first, as had been said elsewhere, the song is about a girl who gave robert plant an ultimatum, music or me. Jimmy had actually had this piece mostly constructed as a purely instrumental piece prior. Many many who consider themselves as true Zepophiles list Ten Years Gone as their favourite Zeppelin song, me included. The high and low Elie alluded to is Jimmy's trademark, "light and shade", he loves the juxtaposition. Now i'm going to BLASPHEME, and say the best version of this song is a live version Jimmy did with the Black Crowes, even if Chris stuffed up during the song! The 3 guitar parts are all there with Rich Robinson and Audley Freed really meshing in with Jimmy. You should REALLY do yourself a favour and go check it out, simply incredible! Anyway, stay safe, stay well, stay happy! We are Eagles of one nest, the rest is in our souls!!!!!

Must react to these under rated Led Zeppelin songs:
    1. In the light
    2. Down by the sea side
    3. Battle of evermore
    4. That's the way

The songs are like ......remember the Crayola box of Crayons 64 count .
The Crayola box was Led Zeppelin
The small boxes within were the Albums
And each Color was a song ❤
