DESUS & MERO, the Bronx’s very own, reconnected online in the early days of Twitter, where they unleashed their potent personalities and found themselves kindred spirits.. That led to stints on Complex and MTV, the Bodega Boys podcast, and a daily late-night show on Viceland, developing a feverish following. The quick-witted duo brings a distinct voice to late night, delivering smart and comedic commentary on any and all topics, that keeps audiences buzzing. DESUS & MERO continue to host their Bodega Boys podcast.
How letterman be the guest but still manage to be the one asking questions, lol? The brand is TOO STRONG!
I think its ingrained in him now, such a habit he can't turn it off.
Bro’s been at this since ‘82
Aryan Dwivedi. A master at his craft.
Letterman is THE GOAT
Old habits die hard.
Man this is like getting recognized by your dad that you're more than just his secret family
LMAO
🤣
Aaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha sad that I can relate to this comment smh ahaha
Lol yea... Just what I was thinking...
I felt this. Lmao
Letterman has this thing of just going to young talk shows and being encouraging. He did it with Jon Stewart and Conan in the 90s.
Kimmel in the 2000s. And now the bodega boys and Busy Philips.
He just goes on and heaps praise on the host so they'd feel legit and relax.
He just cares about the artform.
Hakim I was thinking the sameThing. He just seems like a fucking stand up dude
Jon Stewart needs to come on here that would be amazing
Well Carson did it for him. And he does it for the next generation. He realizes that the talk show is bigger than one person. So Dave gives them notoriety and his wisdom. He just wants it to keep going and live on past him. Which I gotta say, I respect the hell out of...
Letterman should go on #HotOnes next!
good comment
Dave looking like Rick Rubin's responsible brother.
David Letterman is such a good host that he did his homework for a show where HE's the guest
B
I absolutely loved that! So classy, you can tell he's a fan of the artform.
Bro I'm corny as shit I've watched this like 4 times and I cry every time. There's so much respect both ways. It's gorgeous tbh
fact fact
"We're cool in the streets, but we also get our prostates checked". That was a killer line that nobody acknowledged ha ha.
I was going to type this same shit bro!

When David Letterman sits back and says your joke is “Strong”, you know you’ve made it as a comedian.
Without a doubt!

"Funkmaster Flex night, *hard to get a ticket* for Funkmaster Flex night" - David Letterman
As a fellow New Yorker, born and bred, it gave me chills hearing them say it straight to the source...a legend in the game.
#FACTS
Me too, we grew up with that
I was today years old when I realized that was David Letterman. 😂😂😂
@@lexiavoyne9298 I'm dead 🤣😂🤣😂
Yes! I was today years old when I learned it was David Letterman’s voice. “It’s hard to get a ticket..to FunkMaster Flex Night.” Damn, I then had a vortex memory of being 15 and sitting in my kitchen basement listening to that loop. Geez, that was great.
"You dont want the smoke" - David Letterman
lol david letterman doesnt want any smoke mans got alot of allegations against him LMFAO
031shelf666 aint nobody mad at david letterman bro
031shelf666 funny how you can say literally anything on the internet and get likes.
💯🚀🤘
i wonder why neil didnt want to talk about the moon 😏
Dave came with the heat tryna expose viceland 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Chyko Money I know!! He stayed talking about Vice 🤣
Those were most of the parts that cut from TV too LOL, Dave don't give a fuck.
Dave has been a fixture in the industry, he might have production credits but he's a creator that's always supported the art, not corporate money chaser. He was really mad about the way NBC screwed Conan and probably has a really bad taste for networks screwing over young talent that he respects.
10:00 DID LETTERMAN JUST CALLED QUENTIN TARANTINO CLINICALLY GOOFY 😭😭😭
lol
He made a career out of pissing off really famous people.
Isn't he?
It’s a nice way of saying drug addict 🤧😭
We new phrase!
YOU DON’T WANT THE SMOKE - David Letterman
2020 the brand is strong.
i bet sean and the hot ones crew hearin that letterman watches their show is gettin em hype
Thats the best co sign
Drew Barrymore just had Sean on her show and she mentioned talking to Letterman and them both acknowledging that he's amazing at his job, and Sean looks damn near about to cry. It's really wholesome.
SuperJNG18 i gotta check that out thanks for bringing it up!
@@josephstaton3561 No prob! It was part of a longer thing she's doing where she interviews interviewers she particularly admires, so that's already a really nice thing of her to do. And she was great on Hot Ones!
Imagine getting a shit ton of praises from one of the greatest late-night talk show host. Season 2 is gonna be lit!!!
Desus:
"You got in trouble for a joke"
Me: *Shouting* "Envy Envy Envy"
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, sorry.
YO apologize to my wife
They should send him a lemon tree

Tony Brown This will draw a whole other demographic to them too I think. Good. Everyone needs a bit of D&M in their lives.

It’s like watching 2 brothers talk to their favorite uncle.
"We're the same" is such a compliment to Desus and Mero... Might be the best neon sign they have gotten.
This back and forth reminds me of a pair of father/son who went into the same profession. The sons are showing their Dad around the office and lamenting on what's changed/what's stayed the same/how things run now.
Sheryl Smallwood this was the perfect analogy! 💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Damn, that’s really on point. Amazing
@@dominiquepowell-saidykhan2916 At first I was just going to say former boss but as the interview went on they got along so well.

Yes, perfect
David’s the man. He lives in my tiny town in Montana and just acts like a local. Having coffee in local cafe, has a float in the 4th of July parade. So humble for being so famous
And yes, the brand has reached us Hicks in the sticks 😂
He’s so fucking loaded too, richer than most celebs but the way he acts you’d never tell. Humble guy
Scr8 Up Factz not even lol. Eastern Montana is a little flat but still has huge mtns. Look up Glacier National Park, I’m really close to that
Minkailu Lamin my cousin met him once and my cousin said “holy shit you’re David Letterman” and he responded with “holy shit it’s, what’s your name” lol
@@VIi726 Seriously, the name "montaña" even means mountain. 😅
David Letterman was a straight up G. Dude say he wanna beat you, and you provide not only the weapon but the transportation too 🤯😂
“This is either going to be something or nothing, & it turned out to be both!” Right on. I’ve been watching you guys since I found you on VICELAND (wow, whoever decided to let you two walk should’ve been fired). You two were right on your f**king game in this episode. Smokin. The way you both played off David Letter, & Vice versa, was some of the best comedy I’ve seen in a long time, & my favs are Murphy, Gervais, Chappelle, Burr. Honestly couldn’t be happier for you both. You’re on fire right now. Wish you every success. It’s well-deserved. Screw those critic award shows.
The person or persons that let Showtime scoop em up are living under an overpass somewhere.. * PROBLEMATIC LIGHT INTENSIFIES*

They're probably out there hustling with stevie B
I've been on since complex days when they had the same producer as everyday struggle does now
if you look closely, you can see Desus' secret family hiding in letterman's beard.

Take this W my G
coming all the way from Mississauga
Letterman passing the torch !! The brand is official now !!
"We're a diverse sleep apnea commercial"
See how the smartness of that caught Dave off guard?
That was hands down the best interview I've seen them do. You could feel the admiration on both sides, it felt like a passing of the torch from the old guard to the new wave. The brand has no ceiling.
since times of slaves.... fact
@ed edd... How is that the first thing you think of? And why??.. That shit dont even make sense
Nothing beats Letterman’s dry delivery. He’s so damn funny.
Michael Giannetti Legend
The best to do it
He’s such a dinosaur 🤣🤣!! I love him.
I'm cracking the f up when he asked him does he got to go??? Lol
I think D & M missed a couple them too 🤧
"Dick olympics" was said in front of David Letterman, I love it. Legendary, this whole interview
"The holiest day in the Christian calender"... Im WEAK😂😂😂😂
The ending made me cry. What a beautiful soul Letterman is, respecting and appreciating the brand like that! So so sooo proud!
since slavery
@@ededd3175 Wtf?
You can tell Letterman is the GOAT. He knew how to play of there wit and still take charge. Genius pure Genius!!! 👌
Lmaoo this man drank from the bottle next to a recovering alcoholic 😂😂
savage. smh lol
Pure savagery
He’s been sober for decades. He’s past that point where he can’t be around drinkers.
Letterman back in the day used to take huge swigs off of bottles that were clearly real as a joke and he was already identifying himself as an alcoholic. To me he just knew he could not drink daily. He was also a self professed huge pothead in the 80's after he quit drinking but stopped smoking weed because he would get bad case of the munchies and eat a gallon of ice cream in one sitting.
My roommate has been sober for over 10 years and sometimes we'll be at a show and she will buy me a drink. Which I actually think is a little weird. But yeah people drinking doesn't bother her. She just knows that if she drinks it'll be fucked up for her personally.
The older I get , the more I appreciate Letterman's dry wit. This was such a great segment. Damn he put The Brand over strong. Good on you ,sir.
The ending when he hits you with “We’re the same” was absolutely awesome. And the reaction was seriously the best.
Bruh when Dave "son"ed desus asking if he to leave had me dying. That look desus had 😂😂😂 dope ass interview. The brand stay brolic gang gang
I read that 3 times and all I remember is theodore
Yeah dave definitely fucked with mero more 😂he just wanted to chill and knew desus had all the questions
The fact that they all harmonized the Ozamphix jingle was hilarious!!🤣🤣🤣
I feel like the uber driver for Mario Andretti. That was a really beautiful and respectful joke. Well done
And Dave used to or still does own a Indy race car team.
Their interviews are like you eavesdropping on a hilarious conversation. Pure entertainment!
David Letterman said rolled a blunt with the ease of a man who knows, I salute u sir
David Letterman started his career doing stand-up in 1975. He got passed at the Comedy Store and regularly hung out with Richard Pryor, even had him on his NBC show in the late 80s.
70 year old grandmas know what a blunt is. Not that impressive lol
@@aspaceproductions lol? Okay
Letterman being on here is a nasty boost. The Brand is being recognized 🤟🏾🤟🏾
Letterman is such a pro. He did his research on the folks that were interviewing him.
I love how effortlessly the GOAT took control of this. What a great goddamn interview.
For letterman to ask you questions like that and be intrigued is amazing . He actually care cause he kept asking víceland questions lolll
He reallllllly wanted to know how they cashed in and moved to Showtime lol.
Dave is effortless with his humour and yet still remains sharp. So glad the Bodega Boys had him on! The brand is astronomical at this point.
I was really pleasantly surprised by how quick he was, he hasn't diminished at all with age or retirement. Legend.
this is so legendary, probably the biggest and best interview they've done. getting the torch passed to them by the GOAT at the end was beautiful. these guys came a long way from quarter waters on a table made of milk crates at complex
since slave times
“Clinically goofy”😂😂😂
Yo this is by far the oddest yet greatest thing to watch. The brand is strong. It's so cool to see someone of David's caliber praise the "boys from BX"...
Best neon sign, period.
For real, shit gave me goosebumps, it don't get better than that
That show was so funny that I was caught off guard when David said, "We're the same." I got a little teary eyed when he said that!
THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL
I TEARED UP MYSELF
Dave is a comic who wants to make people laugh. Great to see him admiring the deals guys got and praising the fun of the vibe.
Been watching since complex. This is unreal. Makes me proud.
how they go from the quarter waters on the crates to this, legends
Bodega Boys have been annointed with Letterman's beard. "That's when the blessings come in!"
Blessings in that beard 🔥

Somewhere Jay Leno is calling Showtime, attempting to take the show over.
HaHaHa!

I Did Not know Letterman Had this much swag. Desus&Mero bring it out of ppl
No, he's been doing this. The show is great though.
@@estebanb7166 Nobody tryna diminish or downplay letterman.. I'm referring to how comfortable he is in a hip hop environment. Don't comment on my comment with misguided notions.
Antoine, I also think Dave retired and is just happier now, he is passing the torch, he was always for young comedians, and realized his other calling, he always had swaq :) in his odd way lol
@@katlap3101 I like that insight, you are right. Thinking about it a lot of young comedian's careers were started through letterman. He an OG! 😆
Antoine Jones, and it comes from the heart, you can see that, he was like these were my sons, it’s good to see that in our times, people just having a good time, enjoying each other, plus that was dope
I don't know how you could possibly dislike Desus & Mero. How do you adlib "a diverse sleep apnea" commercial. They just seem so happy, too.
Are we going to skip over the fact that he low key called Mero basic at 23:10 ‽ 😂🔥🤣🔥🔥
Shoutout Letterman tha god for recognizing the brands strength!
Letterman is the man. Dope he's passing the torch on to D&M.
The Tarantino story gives an insight into the violent and homicidal themes in his movies.
Letterman being with other comedians and talk shows just highlights how comedically sharp he is.
How tf does Desus comes up with that sshh! "The African American Studies" part... 💀☠
Frandesan Cruz “tell me about Mandela” LOL
They graduated from college with a english major
That's why they have a show and the brand is strong.
This was hilarious, what comedy is about,
That's what makes them great...they're witty AF. A lot of people are funny. But to be that quick, ALL THE TIME...it's a talent. Desus is a fuckin' savant with it.
Grew up on “Late Night with David Letterman”. Always liked him more than Leno. Now my worlds are colliding!!
Or maybe you recognize realness when you see it.
Same here!
Same, comedy at its best
Letterman vs Leno was like a fine steakhouse vs Sizzler. I get why Sizzler gets more people, but the quality is SO MUCH LOWER than at the steakhouse.
30:29 gotta be the funniest part of this interview. DESUS’s honest confusion of the question kills me everytime I watch it.
I didn't get it. Couldn't tell if Dave was actually trying to wrap it up or just making a joke.
So glad you pointed that out...I would've missed it... PRICELESS!😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Love the Quentin Tarantino bat threat story. The best part is his rage + video store nerd history + Dave's producer listening on the other phone + not showing up. A combo of weird things that are so stupid that they're hilarious. Thanks for this, I needed it.
"He didnt want the smoke"
Pretty much sums up Tarantino on the real. Glad someone lifted the curtain on it
When he said Scotch Bonnet.... 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 The brand is....
Wow this was amazing. I’m so glad Dave finished all his stories because not everyone can do that.
I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen a public “passing of the torch”
Congrats guys. You earned it.
Respect to Uncle David. Someone give him this message. Much respect.
How fast he came up with the phrase for his sign just shows you what kind of a person he is. Respect.
Desus' beard is luxurious.
this was one of their best interviews ever!!!
David Letterman our here beard shaming Mero 🙃🤣🤣
Letterman said hes common lmao
This is by far one of the greatest interviews i've ever seen, Letterman is extremely genuine and his humor comes from it and you guys handled it as perfectly as possible. Great way to start the season
Mero: "And then we're left with Taye Diggs...." Ok but did NO ONE HEAR THAT!?!?!?!?!?!
Joseph Kyle 🤣🤣🤣 I’m like dang don’t do Taye Diggs like that lol
I just remembered Taye Diggs was married to Idina Mendel.

It's all those little asides that kill me. It's like Sergio Aragones' "Marginal Marginals" in the old Mad Magazines. Just a little joke here in addition to the main ones, if you're paying attention.
Joseph Kyle they’re sleep
"Tell us about the original man." LOL
I don’t get it.. A prior comment mentioned This as a subliminal… what’s there all about?
Man Mero's heart was about to come out his chest when Dave passed the torch at the end. Shout out to the boys for making it
David said "Oh yall like to throw in speed bumps? I INVENTED speed bumps"
I'm so glad they brought up the Funk Master Flex night story !!
I can only pray that I reach David’s age and be that cool.
Desus - "We have to ask every guest, what would your neon sign say?"
Letterman - (Without hesitation) "We're the same"
What a great/brilliant man Letterman Is. Legend.
33:27 was definitely a Black queen 😂😂
that was a great moment :')
I'm so proud of you guys! THE BRAND IS STRONG!!! Staying true to who you are has made that authenticity your strength. You are an example in this age of pretending and social media, that owning who you are & where you come from is our own secret power. I think that's why the Bodega Hive is so positive. Make peace with all parts of you, so that you can call to you all that you desire. Our REAL POWER is in being authentic, and this platform captures that reality. This is beyond a heat check for The Brand. This is nuclear war on every other late night show. I am beyond proud :’)
This was my two favorite things smashed together. Like Desus, I also got beat for watching Letterman.
I loved that Dave did research. He knew what kind of show he was going on. When he didn’t know something, he didn’t pretend that he did. Letterman ain’t listening to Funkmaster Flex and he said it.
There was respect all over that stage.
