That would be interesting, though he might want to first do Question, even if that gets into a whole thing like with the original Blue Beetle and several other characters originally not in DC comics, but Charlton, which I only learned via the DC Showcase of Blue Beetle making a little in joke. That short (not sure if you can watch it independently through streaming, I had to buy Long Halloween Part 2) was more in the vein of 60s pulp with promotionals about comics, like the Charlton Action Heroes (Question, Blue Beetle, Nightshade and Captain Atom all featured as heroes, plus the villain Dr. Spectro). Peacemaker, at least some version of him, also originated there, which is interesting.
That would have been good timing, with the *Gotham* Renée Montoya, played by Victoria Cartagena, reprises her role in the (terrible, so far) season 3 of *Batwoman* I wanted to at least watch the 5th episode, *"A Lesson from Professor Pyg"* , because I love me some Prof Pygmalion, and this particular episode is directed by my man David Ramsey (aka Diggle aka future Green Lantern). But yeah, it turned out to be a piece of shit. Much like the Mad Hatter in this same season 3, the *Batwoman* Prof Pyg doesn't hold a candle to the *Gotham* version of the character. I stuck by season 2 because my man Black Mask was a great Big Bad, but without him to carry the entire show I can say with confidence that this will be the last episode of that show I'll ever watch. ... I mean, they teased Flamingo at the end of last episode, and Eduardo Flamingo has been a favorite minor Batfam-rogue of mine since times immemorial (and he was pretty badass in *Gotham* even if sadly he only appeared in one episode) I'm kinda curious as to how they'll butcher him, but I'll just watch clips on youtube. Maybe. Probably... Dang it :'(
@@randallflagg3700 Only having a bit of exposure to Pyg, I enjoyed what they did here, even if he might've been a bit theatrical. The character is tough to do justice, esp. if the Gotham version really emphasizes and shows off his psychotic nature that was part of his inception as a new part of the rogues gallery. They ended that episode with the character dead, but teasing a new version of Joker seemingly (given that they confirmed in S2 he was killed by Batman), so there's that way to get around the embargo, similar to other characters that are limited. Poison Ivy being in a relationship with Montoya was also noted in that episode, possibly an original concept, though I recall she and Batwoman or another prominent female character were in a relationship (maybe from Batman Bad Blood, iirc, where she and Kate talked about their past fling)
@@randallflagg3700 as a batwoman comic fan, Batwoman (Kate Kane) has dated both Renee Montoya (this goes back as far as the weekly series 52) and Maggie Sawyer (they shared a dance in 2010 before starting to date in the new 52)She’s had other love interests, but those are the two of note. In fact, Kate was supposed to marry Maggie in 2014 or 2015, but DC editorial nixed it. They stated that it was because they didn’t want main tier superheroes to get hitched as it would make them boring (completely forgetting that Aquaman Superman and the Flash (I think) we’re all married at this time). The Batwoman creative team of JH Williams III and William Blackman felt it had to do with it being a gay wedding and left the book in protest. And no, poison ivy and Montoya have never dated in the comics. Montoya despite being created in the early 90s, wasnt confirmed gay until 2003 with the excellent Rucka/Brubaker penned series Gotham Central and the five part story Half a Life. 7:30 having unfortunately seen the animated version of the killing joke, I sadly could see Linkara’s joke being entirely serious to her character. 11:00 Was that a Kindred reference?
Well to be fair, both The New Batman Adventures and Batman Beyond all blatantly stated Bruce and Barbara had a thing at one point. I’m just surprised how many people forgot that.
The reference at 11:00 was actually to Spiderman Sins Past, the story where it looked like Gwen Stacy gave birth to Peter's twins but they were actually Norman Osborn's. The whole mess starts with a letter addressed to Peter.
@@drakkenmensch Yeah but one of Nick Spencer's last Spider-Man issues actually retconned those events. Turns out the twins were clones- Harry orchestrated the plan before his death and used subliminal hypnotherapy and mind-altering gas to make Norman think he was the dad. And then Mephisto used versions of the clones to create his Kindred puppets.
Let's be honest - as much as everybody makes fun of Killer Moth and his Silver Age costume, we all love it. It's goofy, sure, but in the best way possible and way better than the needlessly grim and cynical "Charaxes" redesign he got in Underworld Unleashed. I think we can all agree that other than later artists smartly updating the cape into wings, Infantino nailed it with this design and its always fun seeing KM pop up in this outfit.

Maybe it's the alliteration, maybe it's the technical term being used, maybe it's because it's charmingly over-verbose, but "lethal lepidopteran" is a description that just makes me happy.
The Caged Demonwolf sneers at such feeble efforts. True alliteration requires at least a triple play to even qualify as worthy of notice. Go with "the larcenous lawbreaker in his lepidopteran livery launched into a lethal lunge" and you've got something going on. :)

But yeah, it turned out to be a piece of shit. Much like the Mad Hatter in this same season 3, the *Batwoman* Prof Pyg doesn't hold a candle to the *Gotham* version of the character.
I stuck by season 2 because my man Black Mask was a great Big Bad, but without him to carry the entire show I can say with confidence that this will be the last episode of that show I'll ever watch.
... I mean, they teased Flamingo at the end of last episode, and Eduardo Flamingo has been a favorite minor Batfam-rogue of mine since times immemorial
(and he was pretty badass in *Gotham* even if sadly he only appeared in one episode)
I'm kinda curious as to how they'll butcher him, but I'll just watch clips on youtube. Maybe.
Probably...
Dang it :'(
@@randallflagg3700 Only having a bit of exposure to Pyg, I enjoyed what they did here, even if he might've been a bit theatrical.
She has also had several love interests but Kate Kane is the only one of note.
@@ToHoldNothing also when Alan Moore was originally writing watched he planned on using the Charlton heroes. When DC said no, we are going to bring them into the DC universe proper, the Peacemaker served as a template for the Comedian (The question was Rorschach, captain atom dr Manhattan and blue beetle nite owl)
What the good doc didn't say is that he really got carried in the poles by his choice for VP which was also a collection of ghosts only they haunt a Monster Truck they went around battling Kajius. Also a great wing man of dates and really tried to cover for Linksano on a few.
I have no idea where that rambling came from.
Linkara hearted this so it's canon
11:09 I see Killer Moth took the Leaky-Eye Luca school of Protection Rackets.
"Pay me money so that I'll protect you from myself!"
Wow. Ya got me. I thought I knew everything about the Batman TV show, but Batgirl's TV roots were well beyond me. Although this DOES raise the question of why Bill Dozier felt the need to create a brand-new Batgirl in the first place instead of just adapting the original Batwoman and Bat-girl to quell rumors that Adam West and Burt Ward's Batman and Robin were ALSO gay...
10:19 - Oh dear... The narration is talking about how Babs is having the time of her life... and her face in the 3rd panel looks like THAT. No comment... lol
"Seriously, her outfit is a frikkin' Transformer!"
They DID have a little sequence in Yvonne Craig's screentest/pilot that showed her doing this, turning her skirt inside-out to become the cape, her purse becoming her belt, etc. I wish we saw a bit more of that in the show itself, that was awesome.
*_"I just know your BOOBS would get in the way of crimefighting!"_*
No, Batman, you're thinking of POWER Girl.
_Information: My cat is jingling on the stairs._
...I've never been so afraid of something so seemingly adorable...
" WEE WEE WEE" words of gratitude mr Billy
To quote a nursery rhyme, "And this little piggy went 'wee wee wee' all the way home."
Might've been a reference to TFS, where after Seras kills the Captain, he squeals in a falsetto while burning to ash.
You know, from the description of the famine and the decision to murder people to feed others I was already thinking "Wait, isn't this the backstory of The Conscience of the King?" And then the governor in question's name is Tarsus
Well played.
_[Watches storyline segment]_
This little serial killer went "WEE WEE WEE" alllllll the way home!🤣
(Couldn't resist)
Yep 😂 we were ALL thinking that 😜
Linksano’s sexuality being causally brought up. Nice. What he did to help Linkara in this episode, he’s a true bro.
Linksano is easily one of my favorite in the storylines
I actually really like the idea of Batgirl's normal outfit becoming her costume. I think that's so cool. (12:56)
"Hello, I'm Babs Gordon." "And I'm Babs Bunny." "No relation."
4:18 Must say I kinda already miss the last Secret origins mouth intro and theme, sound more cartoony lol
23:26 Nimue would make a great Pokedex :D
31:31 That ending made me laugh out loud, thanks, Lewis :D
Yvonne Craig's story about the time she ran over Vincent Price's foot with the Batgirl Cycle is the stuff of legend.
Yea I was literally thinking about "But Linkara did Harley Quinn" and now I'm like "OH... didn't know that!". I guess we can thank the Batman show for causing DC to create the actual Batgirl huh? Kinda neat!
KILLER MOTH! God I love how stupid he looks and how in Teen Titans animated series version makes him like a moth man.
Hey, at least Linksano was president. I'm surprised he wasn't kick out of his office for creating a doomsday weapon against an alien invasion that work BUT cause the birth of mutants.
God, I LOVE the over-the-top intro text of 1960s comics. A charm you just can't get these days.
My first exposure to Barbara was Batman 1966. Heck, my first exposure to the Batman franchise was Batman 1966. :D
Same here! With the reruns!
Well, as it turns out, she was invented for the show, so you caught her in her purest form.
The Batgirl cycle is so delightfully over the top, and then you see the Kitty Car…
I still want to read the Batman ‘66 Meets The Green Hornet comic.
"Is she heroine or villainess?" seems pretty obvious, but now I want to see the alternate universe where Batgirl is a villain.
You know how it goes, the creative mood hits you. You start making a cosplay. You get really into it, and next thing you know you're integrating it into your regular wardrobe...
So there was a precedent for how in Lego Batman Barbara Gordon went to Harvard for Police.
Yep apparently
Barbara Gordon is one of my favorite characters.
And it's awesome that she leaped from the comic to TV so soon.
Well, that was a fun episode. A great debut for a beloved character, thus setting the stage for a long eventful career. For better and worse alike. And the story segment made for an interesting encounter. I won't spoil it for anyone who browses the comments before finishing the video, but I will give credit where it's due. Top notch, everyone. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
What do yall wanna bet that Linkara is gonna be mad at himself for schedule slip when nobody else is mad about it?
How could one be mad with his wonderful storytelling and funny reviews. He still has has me engrossed with his show 13 years later. He needs to stop being so hard himself.
@@fanofpink Agreed
Bab's is one of my favorite DC characters...didn't even let the injuries and horror that Joker put her and her father through in The Killing joke stop her from fighting crime by helping Bats and the JLA as Oracle...
And all this characterisation go on the toillet after new 52.
@@MrSafior From what Linkara has said, that’s one of many problems with the reboot.
Still think the original way her injuries came about was gross and fridgey… but good on the likes of Gail Simone for salvaging her
How foolish I was. I believed that Linksano was just making a fake video that made it look like he was the president. I should not have underestimated that magnificent bastard! Well played! :)
I’m a big fan of the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl, so that got an automatic like from me. The Sins Past joke got a chuckle. Great review overall.
I really like the Batgirl of TV series. Her portrayal was my first exposure to Batgirl as was to many kids in the late 80s and early 90s. Sure, it may seem bland by today's standards, but it was a great start.
Governor Tarsis was a reference to the TOS episode the conscience of the king right? the governor there executed half a population due to a draught amongst them a lot of Jim Kirks friends and the event shaped him for the rest of his life.
9:42
"What the hell is that attached to?"
Well, Killer Moth obviously.
Touché
I assume the other end was tethered to Spider-Man, who was swinging by on a web-line off-panel and far overhead. Said web-line was, of course, attached to the Satellite of Love.
6:22 Funny thing about his helmet resembling a grashopper is that in the original Teen Titans cartoon, in spite of the moth aesthetic being more clear, his helmet looked like those of the classic Kamen Riders who had a grasshopper motif.
28:38 huh, baller move Doctor.
30:26 well, as long as everyone is happy and you don’t give away state secrets.
That "moth" logo with 8 legs kills the biologist in me.
Science!
Linksano revealed to of made himself President to fix this mess made me laugh so much. XD
"My Cat is jingling on the stairs"....why does that sound ominous? Also, she finally got a new monitor to communicate with!
Linksano 2024! It's just a matter of figuring out who his VP would be. Also, Allison has a great computer voice for sure.
I appreciate "Lethal Lepidopteran" so much.
Also I can't get over the idea of Barbara disguising her voice by doing the Nolan--verse Batman. *"WHERE ARE THEY?!"*
Comic: What is her startling secret identity!?
Linkara: Ehhhhh... *shrug* Alfred?
Alfred: Just once I'd like someone to believe that. ...Hold on-
"My cat is jingling on the stairs."
To Quote Linkara: "WHAT?!"
Absolutely LLOOVVEE the new visuals for the Secret Origins intro
0:09: That is a nice and exciting intro to Secret Origins Month.
So Linksano's plan... was to be elected president in order to help Linkara? I was not expecting that, and I'm glad I was here to witness it! :)
10:39 - 10:46 Unless those shelves can be accessed from both sides, she's putting all those books back on the shelf backwards.
OK, I did not see that ending of the fight coming... Well played, Linkara! Well played!
I do not know how to feel about NIMUE's final message. I don't know if that's a clue for future storyline stuff or just Allison talking about Ash in NIMUE's voice
Also, Bi Poly Linksano FTW!
It was just a joke blooper that Allison had that I decided to keep in. =)

Good to see Dr. Linksano being useful. Any chance we have another trial run of Political affairs for this universe?
Now that is a badass intro for secret origins month. And covering Batgirl too? Now that's a hell of a way to start the month.
Linksano jumped universes, became president, discovered is sexuality, and balanced tge time differential between universes so he could go back to see his Russian lover.
Good for him.
Barbara is at least 26 here, evidenced by her PhD. This takes place in Silver Year 7 making Batman 27 during this story.
Her purse is a utility belt? why kind of origami-esque shenanigans are at work here?
She turns her purse inside out because it’s like a tardis except that it’s bigger on the outside.
Ah Barbara Gordon. A great character all around, though I honestly prefer her as Oracle instead of Batgirl.
I just think a wheelchair using hero who still just as, if not more, capable to stop crime by using her brain instead of her strength is cool and I'm sad we lost Oracle since the New 52

So Rate me dumb, but was I seeing the Billy Tor ending as he Literally went Wee Wee Wee all the way home?
That little piggy certainly did, yes.
Myself, I've always found the middle piggy's unnatural lust for the flesh of cattle quite off-putting. I'm vaguely surprised the little monster didn't appear as a porcine supervillain in one of those Chick-fil-a supercow comics.
"Wee wee wee!"
...to quote Linkara: WHAT?!
I like Billy's gesture after he lands in the pocket dimension. It was very,
"You dropped me in a pocket dimension? Seriously?"
Just once I'd like to see a pocket dimension that's actually that. Trapped between two constricting walls of fabric, struggling to keep from being crushed by comedically-oversized coins and car keys, and just when you think you're safe a gigantic smartphone descends from on high to grind you into the lint.
Poor Linkara. Falling behind on his video posts because Moarte hogs up the computer and editing suite in October.
That and Sinclair taking over his studio on release nights.
Wow, that's my new headcanon
14:38 I was really hoping for Lewis to say in a his serious Batman voice "Girls are ewy and have cooties!"
Damn it Linkara, I was eating at 8:30, and I laughed so hard, I have tomato and cheese sauce in my sinuses.
Weird thing is, it's Robin who wears the domino mask.
I’ve always loved Killer Moth, ever since I played LEGO Batman The Video game in 2013
This was really good and worth the wait...but WOW this storyline is cursed to hell considering how long it's taking to finish (None of which is your fault). Over 4 years.
“Okay, that’s enough fourth wall breaking. Back to work” may be my newest favorite line
