Kid me would have lost so many hours and days playing with those goblins in their diorama box, and would have been inconsolable when, inevitable, some part would have been lost or broken through excessive play. That is the perfect diorama.
In the grim darkness of the far future, Louise came along, sprinkled fairy dust on everything and the universe was saved. And there was much rejoicing. Even Khorne was said to go "awwwww" at the cuteness.
In the far future there is only rainbows and kittens and cute goblins handing out lollipops to happy children. Roll to hand out gifts! Success! You always succeed in this game of pure joy!
I love everything about this. The tiny goblins in costumes sewn from stolen kilts and tablecloths. The goblins hanging out in a set bedecked with cardboard props, like they're putting on a school play. And of course Louise's infectious delight.
This is my favorite video I've watched on your channel. You did a wonderful job on the goblins and the diorama is brilliant! Don't knock yourself for using cardboard and glue and not all the expensive items for crafting. Most of us in the crafting community try to figure out ways to be as cheap as possible because we are all incredibly broke or don''t want to spend more money on something if our skill level isn't up to par. I absolutely loved every second of it. And Eric was right, it shows how much you love these miniatures ❤I hope you make more like this.
The simple joy of bright crisp colours. Thanks Louise, you have gotten me out of the 'grimdark and only grimdark' rut I was stuck in. As a painter returning to the hobby twenty years later it was so easy to just mute every colour and drench everything in black wash to get quick results. Now, with a little more practice I can start integrating much brighter colours- shoutout to the prismatic sword tutorial again. The cloth goblins look really cute, I might get my partner one as a present.
Keep telling yourself you're the 'most dubious' if that helps, but you must be the least dubious person in the hobby, if not the entire world! ☺ I love the diorama, especially the idea of making it out of the box and the way you've leant into the nature of the materials like the corrugated cardboard edges rather than trying to hide them or polish the look. Really inspiring!
We have a couple of people at my Flgs who love these, including Mrs MLG, who love these little dudes. They're brilliant minis. I really like the fact that they have stitching. What a brilliant video. I love it 😃
Your love of all things Goblinoid is like my love all things Orcoid, which is fitting given how they are practically cousins. These Cloth Goblins actually remind me of the more light-hearted JRPG art style (like Bravely Default, FF Crystal Chronicles, Story of Seasons etc). What I like is nowadays the miniature scene is wonderfully diverse. You can have mean, green or anything in between. It's actually why I enjoyed art in High School when I was younger because everyone's work was so different (seriously I saw a girl's work which was like beautiful fairy tales from a bygone era to then see another girl's work where it was just pure macabre. Gods, I miss art) I just didn't have the mental fortitude to pursue it as a career but that's a story for another time. Like you said a good palette cleanser really does go a long way!
The goblins dont need set lore or rules to be awesome! My headcannon always moves back and forth anyway so I really appreciate the dynamic nature of the diorama. Excellent work!
Wow love the energy. Because let's face it despite the art, techniques, model building, probability and statistical analysis, years of study and practice, that goes into table top gaming. And I say this with no shame and no criticism. It all goes back to setting up our toys on the bedroom floor and telling ourselves a story. Thanks for sharing and letting us connect to that old bit of fun.
As a big old man I must say this was brilliant to watch, I paint and not play and I have also ended up turning a squad of miniatures into a diorama (3times lol) just because it felt the right way to go, do what makes you happy and sod those that don't get it. Can't wait to see what your next diorama will be, it will happen 😅😅
I'm at a stage in my own major hobby project where I need to muster up some enthusiasm and get stuff done (because it involves spray painting and remote-controlled droids and Winter Is Coming, so if I don't get a wiggle on there will be three feet of snow on the ground and I'll be stalled until March). See how gleeful you're feeling about these cloth goblins is reminding me of all the good bits of my own project. So I'm going to finish this comment and then go clean of my bench so I can solder some wires. :) Also - You should totally consider using the Cloth Goblins and their stage to make little stop-motion stories, because creativity wants to be shared and that could be awesome!
Creating something for its own sake is something special. There's no end goal other than to have fun with making it and enjoying it once it's done. It's a pure type of joy you can't really experience in another way. The diorama is adorable and honestly, makes me want to create something similar. But all I paint is scary big daemons and monsters, lol. Maybe I can find some cute daemon sculpts and make a wholesome diorama too?
I really like your appreciation of the simpler style of these little goblins. They are so reminiscent of the early Citadel figures that I fell in love with. Perhaps your Cloth Goblins are defending against an attack by the Psyco Hobbit. 😅❤️👍
Your absolute joy and excitement for things like these are probably 80% of the reason I'm going to wind up back in the hobby, even though I know I could never have the sheer pleasure you seem to exude whenever minis are involved.
This made my week because at the end of the day there is so much joy in the hobby and people…think you hit that all in its basic form. Thank you. From one that is using our hobby to keep the fight in his life!
Ohmygoodness, their adorable little jammies!!! I can just picture them bobbling about and talking to each other in squeaky noises! 😊😊😊 And the scenery is just perfect for them!!!
This was lovely. Has made me want to make my own little diorama. My daughter loves painting anything goblin and monster related too and always wants to build little projects and she loved seeing your diorama.
Cloth Goblins, when Clangers go to war! Reminds me of all the stop animation shows I loved watching as a kid. Which reminds me, I really should make a Parsley the Lion model sometime that'd be a fun thing to have.
I love it! The diorama is like you opened the lid to the box, and their was a tiny little world already living inside it , like something out of a fairy tale
Aw. I have a "comfort minis" box too, except it's paper minis. Cutting and gluing them is so relaxing, it really does make me feel better. This makes me want to build some paper terrain for my paper goblins now.
I'd been tempted by a few of Statuesque Miniatures' Kickstarters but Cloth Goblins was the one that I finally backed. They're brilliant! I'm just beginning to paint them now, but my Cloth Goblins have gotten lost following a Cloth Troll that has a crown stuck on its head and have ventured far from the Habernagerie - all the way to the Bloodwind Spoil! They'll be squaring up to some decidedly more grimdark warbands in games of Warcry, and I suspect that while they're going to have the stuffing knocked out of them on a regular basis, a lot of fun should be had in their glorious defeats.
as a fan of GW highly detailed new models an generally a WH snob, I gotta say this is the most amazing and wholesome hobby video jet to be seen on YT :D
I love cute, colourful, and whimsical things the most so I'm happy to learn of the Cloth Goblins! They are the kinds of things I want to paint and I'm also super excited about the Fishing Goblin coming back for the same reason (missed it the first time around).
I’m not into war hammer but I enjoy her energy and passion so I stay and watch - I challenge you Rogue Hobbies to find what I’d be into so I can feel like I belong here
oh my god, this is so cuute! such a wonderful project. I had no idea that miniatures in the style of kirby's epic yarn or animal crossing were even possible, let alone that they'd be so sincerely endearing. I have not owned or painted a single miniature in my life, but these really make me want to pick some up and try
Such an amazing video! It is great to see you found Statuesque Miniatures too. He makes so many delightful "cloth" creatures. Your painting really helps add additional whimsy to the models (which already have a lot). So charming!
Awww, I backed this Kickstarter and have had the STLs for these cheeky little gobbos sitting on my desktop for ages! Now I'm inspired, already set the printer going and am off to your patron to shamelessly copy all you little rascals!
This is incredible, the painting you did on those absolutely tiny goblins is so crisp and refined! And the diorama is adorable, it really fits the goblins perfectly.
An insanely adorable video from the most adorable minis painter out there! I love how the minis and the terrain turned out, and I wish I could do something like this without being all grim dark as my tendency is to be. The way you wave and squee "BYEEEE!!!!" at the end of every video melts my heart every time I see it, too.
That is awesome. Love the way the scenery looks, such a simple style made great by the painting. The retro style fits those little Gobbo's so we'll and I would love to see more of their world in your vision and style.
So adorable 😭 I recently bought the Female techno raiders XL heads from Statuesque Miniatures to build some female space marines, they've got so much good stuff!
Definitely easy at times to overlook or forget the 'fun' aspect of miniatures! The end result looks fantastic! Looking forward to seeing more of these in the future!
Aww, they look like little Wombles! I can't help feeling that these cloth goblins were crying out to have their spears and shields replaced with pillows, blankies, teddy bears, crisp packets and ice creams to go with their onesies.
Another Joyous video! Thanks for sharing and for painting up a play set for your goblins, as a new Dad with a lil girl I’m adding this to a to do list with her in a few years… looks like you had so much fun!!
I never painted a miniature in my life, I come to this channel because this lady is delightful. 😊 …and I love WARHAMMER! (Cloth Goblins good too though)
Adorable yes cute indeed, this video gave me such a relaxed meditative vibe your joy for painting fun stuff is infectious delighted with all your videos so far this was by far my favourite 😊😊😊😊😊😊

I like the cardboard cutouts, looks like a popup book :)
Making it an actual popup book would have been even more awesomer.
@@brionl4741 I agree
Yeah!!

Haven't you noticed that the World Eater marine helmets have giant bunny ears on them? 🤣

That's the most adorable diorama ever
It really is. Thank you for making it. The hobby needs more voices like yours 😊
It always makes me happy, when it's a "bye, bye-bye" video and not just a "bye" video.
I love everything about this. The tiny goblins in costumes sewn from stolen kilts and tablecloths. The goblins hanging out in a set bedecked with cardboard props, like they're putting on a school play. And of course Louise's infectious delight.

i had a similar realization doing a commissar recently- i used 3 different slightly different grimy dirty washes and
ya, i didn't really have to.

Fab video - captures much of what I love about the hobby: the interplay of craft, storytelling - forging narrative where none previously existed.
This is ALL SO GOOD!
Goblins? Amazing!
Flat pack Forest castle diorama? Amazing!
The energy? Amazing
The edits? Chefs kiss

A modular diorama in a box is GENIUS! You could walk past it and move it all around whenever you fancy, very marketable idea ;)
I love the idea of a box of cheer-up miniatures! I’m going to make a little box for myself 🙂
Louise this is absolutely amazing. If you showed the box and told us this is how they came to you, I'd believe you. Amazing job!

I love listening to your RUclips and twitch videos with my daughter. You are an inspiration to her and an old man like me, bless you Miss Sugden.
The thumbnail gave some hard Super Mario World x Paper Mario Vibes! Looks fantastic =)
The whimsical cardboard setup imbues this project with such a sense of story

Oh my gosh I love them. The scenery was a perfect fit too. Painfully wholesome.
Your videos are joyous, thankyou for sharing the cloth goblins!
absolutely adorable as ever, the little stage feel reminds me so much of crafts i had as a kid
And their mono- low brow!? That I can respect
I really love this style ! It's cute and lovely and adorable. It has a child school play meets story books vibe !

Just your enthusiasm made me smile all the way through this video. I love the cloth goblins

Everyone who has not already used the word "adorable" in their comment needs to edit to add it. Because that's what this little diorama project is.
My wife was getting seriously concerned by all the cute sounds I was making while watching this.. LOVED IT!
Super mega cute. The vibe of the whole project is extremely sweet

It's like the Clangers have gone militant!
The movable "stage props" it's a stroke of genious!
This gave me the same vibe as playing with my Lego castles and forts when I was a kid. Lovely video!
Lovely work on them Louise. Andrew makes a lot of fun stuff. You should check out his "left at the bottom of the garden" range for more cuteness
Visceral- why I like actually chucking dice vs. TTS or computer gaming. Metal minis seem to satisfy more. Thx for the metal mini asmr!
I love this. I love how wholesome it is, how unique it is, and how versatile it is. I just adore it so much and now I need some of these little guys.
I love it so much !
Those lil goblins are the cutest and the diorama you made for them is just adorable. 💜
Awesome job again, Louise ! : )
Aww, they look like little Wombles! I can't help feeling that these cloth goblins were crying out to have their spears and shields replaced with pillows, blankies, teddy bears, crisp packets and ice creams to go with their onesies.

The goblins are so cute !!!! Your paint job is super impressive and satisfying, and in the diorama it all looks so good omg
