    Fellow contractor here
    Consider adding 2 coats of liquid Hydroban to your showers AND run a 24 hour flood test.
    Thinset has been proven to wick water under the banding.
    Hydroban is the Best 100$ bulletproof piece of mind for your projects. 👍

      @WorkinwithWolkon  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah couldn’t hurt adding a second layer of waterproofing. I think I’m done flood testing curbless showers though. In our most recent project we built a makeshift curb to flood test and it’s always sketchy removing the temp curb as it has a tendency to pull up additional banding

I am intrigued by the difference between spraying and brushing, looking forward to saving time and smooth surfaces. I haven’t tried it yet because a little intimidated by the mechanics and clean up, but that’s starting to sway. I’m ready to use a sprayer.

    That pre-formed slope pan is really a game changer, ain't it? Instead of using large format tiles, is it possible to install waterproof wall panel in the shower? I know the selection are limited as the market has not caught on to it, but if I had to do my bathroom again, I would have gone with waterproof wall panels instead of having tiles and dealing with mold and mildew.

    This was fantastic, great job guys. We’re in the UK and had something similar done at pretty the cost too…with having kids my focus was waterproofing so they recommended the waterproof panels you put up and then applied a blue waterproof paste between all joints which are used in swimming pools and it was excellent. I wanted that small cove in the wall too but they recommended a long ledge too which was great, and then they tiled every surface before popping in a whirlpool bath. The interesting part was the ceiling, instead a normal matte white ceiling with spotlights, they installed white clickable plastic panels that connected like floor tiles, that a surprise. I get it now, no need to paint or anything, it’s simply wipeable. I hope people can see the extra few thousand you guys quote as an important investment and avoid making mistakes by cutting corners. Great work guys.

    • @WorkinwithWolkon
      @WorkinwithWolkon  5 месяцев назад +2

      Depends on if the transition will be tiled over or not and is within the wet zone or not. When we do this we kinda go by what will be within the glass enclosure. In this project the glass actually started after the tile because of the DECO profile so the kerdi had to continue outside of the tile. Because of this we opted to drywall tape over where the kerdi meets drywall

      We’re constantly trying to improve our process and a big part of that is housekeeping. With our projects now we typically require the use of a bedroom to store all of our tools (our projects are always on second floors). So at the end of each day we clean the project space and reorganize our tools. Everything is vacuumed and cleaned before going home. Its a good bit of effort to have to start and end each work day organizing tools/materials and cleaning but it’s apart of the job

    Looks awesome. One question: why the need for a heated floor in the shower?

      Porcelain tile is a cold tile, feet be shivering 🙂

      Tile is cold. Canada is cold. This shower design is very open and without a full glass surround is extra cold. So heated floors just make everything not cold

      @@WorkinwithWolkon I just assumed it warms up relatively quickly with the hot water of the shower anyway. Regardless, I love the open concept bathroom.

      You’d be surprised at how drafty a shower can be when it isn’t enclosed. Obviously it isn’t necessary but if you have the money for it and value nice warm showers I think it’s a great option

    great job! ive always wondered how the slope is kept in shower using the leveling clips, wouldnt they bring all tiles level by using them? or do you not squeeze em down that much? thanks!

    • @WorkinwithWolkon
      @WorkinwithWolkon  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks! This is a pretty common question. The wedges only make the tile edges flush with one another, they don’t pull the entire tile to match the same plane

    I don't hit the like button for anybody anywhere ever, but since you asked so genuinely sweetly, I was compelled to do it. You deserve it.
    That was awesome of the client to demo and even start in a little bit for you. I think I would too just because it's easy and would save time and money on the project.
    I've been wondering, with the thinset or whatever it is you spread over the wire heating elements in the floor-would that start to degrade and break down over time from the constant temperature fluctuation? Or is it designed to withstand and hold up to that?

    • @WorkinwithWolkon

      Thank you so much! It’s designed to withstand the temperature fluctuations. You just need to ensure you’re using the right products as per the manufacturers specs
