    I think you are right about the flood test. It's probably not worth the risk of damaging the water proofing. When you use a high quality system like Schluter brand and follow their exact instructions like you have, it's gonna be fully water proof 100% of the time. Again, so many little details that are so well thought out and done to perfection. That drywall work must have been so much work and I hope people can really appreciate how much work that is. Once again, you get a "like" for this amazing content and Happy New Years to you and your family!

      @@WorkinwithWolkon Thats exactly what I do on all my shower installs. I use ardex 8+9 waterproof membrane, but I think laticretes hydroban is probably better, just a lot more expensive. Ardex is a really cheap ($100) insurance policy considering all the Schluter failures I've seen have been caused by water wicking behind the tape at the pan edges and corners. Never seen a wall leak. Schluter is awesome, their install method just leaves something to be desired when it comes to standing water.

    Another top notch banger!!! Here's my 2 cents on flood testing a curbless shower (keeping in mind I'm only a jackass from South Jersey with ZERO comparable skill level) why drill approx 8= holes into your substrate to have to patch them back up to test how much water a zero clearance curbless shower pan can hold without leaking... We ALLLLLLLL see the preparation you guys take for waterproofing so it's a waste of time in my opinion. With that being said, still waiting for a ceiling mounted tub spout, Blessings for 2024 & of course Dirty Jersey out!!!!

  • @hal263

    A really nice, professional job. However I've never understood why home owners would choose to put a freestanding bath against a wall. It makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible to clean behind it when dust, hair, soap scum and water eventually build up in those hard to reach areas. Also, the base sections against the walls are not able to be sealed with silicone, so water ingress under the tub would take a long time to dry and possibly cause issues with mould or mildew.

    I envy you guys who live in timber framed house countries as to how easy it is to do these kind of renovations. Im in the UK and my house is over 200 years old and is made from stone and brick. In fact the only timber we have are our floor and roof joists so a job like this would be a huge undertaking. Having said this I do really enjoy watching your bathroom remodels. The only change I would have made is to have the bath at a slight angle from the wall as I really hate how furniture always seems to be pushed to the edges of a room.

    Hi Liam! Great work as always! Fellow general contractor in Toronto and York Region here and your videos really inspire me! Keep up the good work!
    May I ask where you get your schluter glass profile from? I'm getting them from Schluter with a $125 shipping fee.
    May I ask what your considerations were to use the glass profile on the wall on the shower control side wall, but on the glass panel the shower door is hinged on, I see a glass bracket on the floor? Is that an extra bracket on top of the schluter profile or did you opt not to use the schluter profile on the panel the door is hinged on? Thank you and happy new year!

    • @WorkinwithWolkon
      @WorkinwithWolkon  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey there thank you so much! I get most of my schluter products from floorbox an online distributor. Make an account with them and you can get products significantly cheaper (I get 30% off at this point)
      The only deco profile for glass in this project is the one by the pocket door. The reason we used this here was because we wanted the shower pan to be 48” wide (exactly 2 tiles long) because of this the niche wall is also 2 tile long. So in order to have something for the glass to adhere to we were able to use a profile which allowed us to get our 48” pan and 48” wall without having to do any sliver cuts.
      Hopefully this makes sense, let me know if you need any clarification

    Finding out if someone wants the privacy of a water closet should be a first date question.

    I an new subscriber very nice work. Would you ever install vinyl plank flooring over tile?

    • @WorkinwithWolkon
      @WorkinwithWolkon  5 месяцев назад

      Yes I’m actually a fan of vinyl plank myself. Waterproof, resilient, easy install, not as cold as porcelain. However when it comes to high end projects like these ones I do think that the look of porcelain is superior and vinyl would detract from it.

    I see where you are coming from regarding the water leak test. I hope there is sufficient space between the tub and wall for the homeowner(s) to get behind so they can clean and dust behind the tub. Is it possible to do a video on glass wall installation in the future?

      Yes we’re gonna get that done at some point, just gotta coordinate with my glass guys

      @@WorkinwithWolkonSweet! I look forward to it. When y'all knocked down the wall between the bathroom and bedroom, I was excited as I thought I'd get to see a homeowner(s) who has the same desire as I do, to have an open bathroom and bedroom concept. Maybe one day I'll see a video of that remodel!

    Your videos are awesome! I only wish you'd go a bit slower like showing the bit where the exhaust fan was installed in more detail... I believe you used tuck tape around the jagged drywall cut-out... then installed the flush-mount vent frame...?

    • @jasonlee9876
      @jasonlee9876 5 месяцев назад +1

      Technically, he doesn't even need to put tape around the edges but he just goes the extra mile as usual to make everything neat and tidy. He put some blocking at the top above the dry wall so he can screw the white vent frame to the ceiling and keep it sturdy. And then he finishes it off with mudding after and then paint over it. I hope this helps, cheers! :)

      I’m gonna come out with an A-Z series hopefully early this year showing in detail every step of the process. It’s quite difficult fitting all of the small details into a video like this one but with a series of videos I should be able to better explain each step
      There will be a video on the flush mount cover included in that

    • @Shahnanagans

      @@WorkinwithWolkon That would be incredible. Thank you!
      Additionally, I wasn't trying to imply that what you are undertaking is simple... Both construction and shooting/editing videos take a tremendous amount of work and effort. I was more over putting out a wish list...? Your videos are great... I'm just inexperienced...
      Also (while I am at it...), should you ever have the chance/desire to document your processes in a condo setting, or a space with steel studs/concrete floors/ceiling, I am certain you'd trend here on RUclips. There's such a gap for content of this nature.

    Have you considered single fall wet room shower trays? Saves all that farting about with envelope cuts and looks cleaner too.

    Looks great! I was looking for the long version…missed it was a question. Long version would be nice for us DIYers trying to get up the nerve to try this. I would break it up into 10-15 minute segments so you can monetize it more if it works that way.

    I've noticed that, in a number of your projects, the bathtub often leaves a large, irregular gap between the walls and what not, making it inaccessible (hard) for cleaning. Why is that and how do you maintain a clean bathroom? Thanks.

    I would have loved if you explained why you ended your shower tile the way you did on the floor by the tub, looks like you did a small piece by the tub fixture and then continued with a full piece. It looks great still but wondering why you did that smaller piece instead of just continuing with a full piece?

    Just my opinion, but it seems easy enough to just repair/refinish the waterproofing where the temporary curb was. I think you have the right idea for peace of mind.

    • @saljablo2767
      @saljablo2767 5 месяцев назад

      Yea but that defeats the purpose of the initial test. If you pull up the waterproofing you were testing AND then have to replace it after the test, then you’re initial test isn’t accurate. So you’d technically have to retest. It’s sort of a paradox.

    • @WorkinwithWolkon
      @WorkinwithWolkon  5 месяцев назад

      Exactly as Sal commented. It’s not redoing it that I have a problem with (doesn’t take much time to do) but it just makes the test feel pointless as you’ve now got new untested waterproofing going in

    • @jerrellrice3413
      @jerrellrice3413 5 месяцев назад

      Understandable but my point is that there's no perfect way. Either you go without water testing it all and hope for the best or you water test it with a temporary curb and maybe have a repair to do. I understand either way, but at least with a temporary curb, you know that the waterproofing is good at least up to the point of the curb, and the plumbing is good as well. Waterproofing a flat spot where the curb used to be, really doesn't need a test, in my opinion, especially since you know how to properly apply it.

    • @WorkinwithWolkon

      It’s apart of a built in plug in one of the drawers, this way small appliances like electric toothbrushes or beard trimmers can be kept off of the countertop
