Motorcraft 2150 Rebuild in 3 Minutes

  • Please note not all 2150s are made equally. Different eras have different intricacies. Like variable high speed air bleeds vs not. Or the vacuum operated dual power valve vs an internal single power valve. This was also the first carb I ever rebuilt, so view this with some caution. Although I followed the instructions, maybe I still did something wrong! The carb being rebuilt in this video is a 1.21 Venturi late 80s AMC Motorcraft 2150. This was to upsize from my stock Ford Fairmont 1.08 Venturi. So this video might not be as helpful to Ford Fairmont owners as it would be to a Wagoneer owner.

    Thank you for the credit. I had no idea that Jeep used Motorcraft carbs too but I'm glad to see everything else seems to be going smooth. Someone else probably told you but you really need to put some Loctite or JBWeld on the threads of those throttle blade screws. They are obviously not the kind of fasteners you want backing out. Can't wait to see how it runs!

    • @Str8sixfan
      @Str8sixfan  4 года назад +1

      Did get red locktite on the throttle blades, thought I mentioned it in the episode before. Dealing with a cooling system leak since Sunday, and one hose short for the cab otherwise I would have starttit up. And I need to send you a question about the enrichment valve

      Hey thanks! Yea there are a few things that I "think" I did right, meaning I'm not 100% sure I got 100% right, but kind of know what to check right away if something isn't working right too. For the most part it was pretty straight forward!

      There's always a balance with this. Sometimes when I take the time to explain things, I'm long winded and people end up scrubbing to the parts they care about getting to the point. And I know sometimes when it's a matter of getting something on the road so you can get to work on monday, you're looking for the version of the video that cuts to the chase and gets down to the show don't tell business...so for this particular video I chose the second style (usually I do the talk too much version) TBH, this was the first carb I rebuilt, so not sure I should have been trying to explain much more anyway. But to wrap it all up, I appreciate the comment, and am happy to know I helped someone out!

    Excellent quick video ! Just went thru a 2150 on a 78 f150 351m and sadly the Venturi tube on one side was split,had a missing check ball weight and no clip for attaching the needle. Since I can’t find the Venturi assembly, I broke down & ordered one of those cheapo knockoff 2150’s off of Amazon just to see if they were any good. Awaiting it to arrive as I type.
